To much forum arguing.

Forum Cops

Let the mods do their job.
The forum cops are annoying.
If someone starts a thread in the wrong section, rather than play moderator wannabe, if it bothers you that much report it.

As far as the question about this thread starting another arguement...yes it did, and if it hasen't , it will.

My Take

Hello

I am new here to AZ. I have read a ton of threads and have done several searches. I can say that in some cases the information searched for is never found or there is just way too much information to go through in a reasonable time. I have also noticed that the threads are from years back and maybe some of the information has changed or no longer of use. The other thing I have noticed is that some of the members will not treat new members with the same respect as the others. Just because somebody asks information about something that has been covered numerous times before does not mean that the poster has not tried to find the information elsewhere. This hold true with wanted/forsale posts as well. I was degraded by a member because I did not want to send an item for inspection before payment. I was "told" thisis common place and that the itrader should tell the story. My side of it was that I did not know this individual and did not care about his itrader and stated that I would give all his money back if he did not like what I was selling. My word against his. My honesty against his.....and yes,,,I was insulted and it probably cost a sale. Fact of the matter is, I am honest and will stand by my word. The bottom line is this....this is a public forum and is owned by the members. Everybody has the same right to post and at the same time, the right to mutual respect. It takes a while to find all the features on here and how to use them all....instead of bashing someone, try pointing them in the right direction or explain how these features work. We are all here because we have an interest in pool and the more we know about what is out there, the better off we all are.........

Your points are noted but the search feature here could be improved just a bit.

One feature of the Search function that I miss is that it will not allow me to search for a word that is three-letters long. It is too short of a word for AzBilliards Search. I would also love it if the search function allowed us to use quotation marks around certain phrases, like in Google, but I'm sure that's a feature that only Google can provide.

I'm a pretty good Googler in recent years. :p

Any questiion is a good question and if a person doesn't want to bother posting an answer that's because they don't care.

If they give a person a ration of crap then it's because they've decided to be an a--hole and they ought to grow up and be decent to people. Period.

If a newbee is politely shown the search function it needs to be done politely, and it's not necessairly a slap in the face.... it's a suggestion and an attempt to inform the new person.

This is the best pool site around but a person does need to learn to fade the big-mouth lowlifes.... just like in the ph.

Lately it seems that when people post something that has been posted before by someone else the new poster gets jumped on and told to use the search.Or if someone posts in the wrong section they are yelled at instead of being advised to post in the correct forum.
I don't understand all the rudeness around here, it use to be we all helped each other out and gave advice selfishly. I hope we can make this site more user friendly again, especially for the noobies.
We all have the same interests and thats pool so we should all try to be more civil.
That's all i've got to say on this.

are you so dense you can't see that there isn't enough arguing?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ok:

I'm going to start anger management when i stop yelling....l.o.l.

Some good input on this thread. Many have stated to use the search even though it is flawed to a degree.
If noobies don't ask the same old questions, there would hardly be any new posts on here. As all forums about whatever topic the site is for you will always have repeat questions. If this bothers some, they should not read that thread and move on to the next one instead of bashing the asker.
A good discussion is fine but when it comes to calling someone an idiot that crosses the line. You have to remember some of the new posters are young and just getting into the sport. Why would anyone try to discourage that by bashing them for asking a simple question. Again that is just my take on the main forum.
If your looking for a good argument then go to NPR and you will get more then you bargained for.

Absolutley!I for one am new to forums and honestly computer illiterate so if I were to do something wrong a kind word of help would go alot further than all the negativity. If someone continues to miss use or post then maybe a firmer word.Remember alot of us didnt grow up in the comp. age but are trying to use this great tool. Thanks for any future help anyone gives. And for all the bashers, sorry were all not as smart as you.

Too many duels on this forum, and I don't mean Corey. :D

Alright Noob, start learning how to make a paragraph and punctuate your sentences better. :D j/k

I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying. You've made some great points.

Old threads contain outdated information more often than not.

Fresh new perspectives on old subject matter is great. It's always nice to hear another person's view.

I like to see newbies getting involved in the process of good posting and if the threads are old news to some of us, we can simply not read the posts.

The one thing I keep coming back to is that the forum's continued success depends upon NEW BLOOD and making the new people welcome is an important consideration.

Good communication on the Internet is difficult for some and not so difficult for others. It takes effort to make the other person understand what you are trying to communicate, especially when you don't have the facial expressions and inflection of your voice to help communicate.

The forum needs more members posting and the senior posters need to be more understanding of those just coming on board.

I like it when a thread comes up that has been started and another member offers a link to another thread on the same subject. It would be nice if those kind souls would share how they obtained that link so that the new folks would have similar knowledge and tools.

The only thing I have to disagree with you on is the ownership of this forum. This forum is owned by Mike Howerton & Jerry Forsyth of AZBilliards. You can read about the ownership by clicking here. The members of this forum are GUESTS and nothing more.

I'm still waiting to taste some of those delicious vegetables that Jerry grows for the FOOD BANKS down in Georgia. :clapping:
