ID this cue on Goodwill Auctions Please

Not to hijack the thread but there is also some masters chalk for sale on the good will site. I looks to be pre-flag for the pic. Just thought I'd throw that out there to help out a good cause.

I looked at that auction but can't say for sure it is pre-flag the way it shows the cubes arranged.

Yes , many cuemakers work hard to copy the master's designs , and there have been many counterfeits offered as 'genuine' over the years .
It could well have been a "Babushka" - but it's not a B a l a b u s h k a .
Wanna buy a watch ? I have a nice Relax I'll sell you - looks just like a Rolex , and they even have the second hand thing figured out .

So wait you mean to tell me my BABUSKA custom cues isn't real? lmfao

FWIW it went for 21 bucks. I bid up to 20 but got outbid last second. Wonder if that was another AZer?

It looked old enough to be pre-flag, and I figured for 20 bucks you couldn't go wrong for a gross of master chalk any way you slice it. Be interesting to know, if the person who won them was an AZer, if the chalk is indeed pre-flag stuff.

I think it was a good deal either way, just was not sure about it being pre-flag.

Probably an Adam. Very early, if it is. It does look like Balabuskas I've seen but the pin is definitely different.

Good, I'm a vinyl record collector, so I've gotten lots of goodies from Goodwill, so bid this baby up!!! Also, one of my objectives is to see that the cue collectors know this site exists, because I've seen some fine, obscure vintage cues go through this auction.

Vinyl (analogue) rules and digital blows as far as music is concerned.

It is an Adams AH-10 I had one I bought in 1972, it was exactly the same, even to the aluminum rings above the butt and below the wrap.
Good cue for the age. I wonder who made the blank was it Helmstetter or not. Someone told me that Palmer made some of his blanks I don't know for sure, would like to know though.

Frank Paradise also used the same pin on a few cues, with the pointed end.
Have a great evening and I hope the person that gets it knows it is a good old cue.

Hi Knifemaker, how are you?

Adam made the blanks themselves. That one is a full length full splice - if you pull the wrap off the prong wood goes all the way through the handle. Dick Helmsetter was a friend of Burtion Spain and he set up their operation in Japan. That pin dates it to early 1970's. I can't tell the wood for sure but it looks like rosewood. They are good playing cues - I had one too.

Great ! I have seen personally how much they help people who are truly in need .

When I wrote this I was unaware of all the facts about the "Goodwill" auctions. I still feel they are great at helping people but I found out when I started to sign up to be a buyer that the items may not belong to Goodwill , they are the property of sellers and Gooodwill gets a commission for selling the stuff from what I can figure out, I mistakenly thought it was articles from their stores. You will be better able to ascertain what is going on if you decide to become a bidder or seller.

that is correct . however , the seller on this item happens to be GW of Albuquerque , one of their own stores
