who are some of the nicest and meanest people that you have meet in the pool world.pool players, backers, sweaters, pool room owers, story tellers anybody related with pool.thank you guys and gals!

The meanest must have been a heroin addict in N. Charleston, SC. He was betting on my opponent and losing money. Apparently he approached me from behind while I was making a shot with a large knife in hand. 4 guns pointed in his direction convinced him to behave.

I knew none of this until it was all over. I was shooting pool.

That's intense. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

without question . . .

ABSOLUTELY the nicest person to ever run a poolroom was Jane Brown , who ran Brown's Billiards in Holly Hill FL for her son Tommy . Jane was this sweet little old lady who looked completely out of place in a poolhall ! She always had her little toy dog with her , and cooked the most wonderful homemade dinners to serve to the regulars . She'd keep Sinatra playing on the jukebox , even if the room was filled with young 'urban' teens . Had a smile for everyone , and was like a second mom to lots of the players there .:)

On a sad note , Jane is still around , but Tommy passed last January . The room reminded her too much of her son's death , so she got out of the business . . . :(

The nicest person I've ever met at a pool hall would have to be Mr. John lepartice that used to run the tulsa billiards palace........awesome character, very nice, full of info and old stories....always a pleasure, I need to say hi to him for sure next time I'm around Oklahoma.

Nicest person I've ever met at an event/tournament was Gradys wife Randii (RIP) bless her soul she was the sweetest woman.....met her for the first time when I was sleeping on the dam beach at Gradys Gulf Coast Classic back in '04...its was nice of her to befriend me just a kid amoung all these legends and older players......months later they didn't want to let me stay in sidepockets for Eddie Taylors b-day cuz I was too young (18, had to be 21)....well she bought me a little time to at least visit and say hi to a few of my friends I had made down in Gulfport and wish eddie happy birthday (wasn't that much of a long time that he passed away after that).......wonderfuly nice woman I can't say enough about her......Grady, I can only hope to have as great a woman as you had in my future.

Randii and John are some of the finest people I have ever met and I'll stick to that comment pretty dam strong.

Nicest person I've met in the pool world has to be Dana Bufalo of Joss Northeast 9-Ball tour fame and Greg Sullivan of Diamond/DCC fame.

Meanest person? I'm saving that one. You see, you're supposed to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

The higher you go, the harder you will fall, and those who laugh last will enjoy it very much for keeping mum. :grin-square:

Nicest... close call between Tony Robles and Tony Crosby. They are both great players and good people that epitomize the word "professional".

I'm not sure if this fits the definition of "mean", but Gene Skinner was a very intimidating character, and if he didn't like you, he had no problem letting you know about it. Kindness and subtlety were not his strongpoints.

rodney morris is one of the nicest pros i have ever meet.....in fact what a great guy all around...

nicest = Efren

meanest = Hubert Cokes aka Daddy Warbucks (never met him (too young to have) but read and heard enough that I'm glad I didn't)

Best,
Brian kc

There isn't just one Tony Crosby, Stevie Moore, Rodney Morris are a few that come to mind just to name a few. they are all some of the nicest guys and greatest overall people in the pool world.

Rodolfo Luat would be near the top of my list. Great attitude, quick to smile, and very gracious even in competition.

Aaron

Sarah Rousey came into town to play a local tourney, and was as nice as could be. Luckily I didn't face her in the tourney, or I might be calling her the meanest. :p;)

Honestly, most all of the pros, cuemakers, room owners, and of course AZBers that I've met; were all really good people! The approachability of the pros is kinda mind boggling really, especially when you compare it to pros in other sports. Have met numerous pros and not one snub, or brush-off, and for the most part they all seemed pretty down to earth. Very cool.

There are certainly some mean folks that hang around and even play the game, but for fear of having to replace four tires, or sustain large medical bills; I'll not naming any of them  :D

Nicest

Nicest....Nick Varner, Sarah Rousey and little Joe would rank the highest on my list. They are great assets to the pool world. Friendly, funny, knowledgable and just nice to be around.

3 of the top of my list as well. Nick and Joe are treasures, and will help out anyone (and with their wealth of knowledge - being able to tap into it can help immensely)!!

rodney morris is a super nice guy,the old bill and billies in glen burnie, the owner ed cikanenis, check spelling, was the meanest!

Happily, there are far too many nice people in pool to single out one or two. But the meanest I've encountered over a pool table was Little Paul beating a man to death with a pay phone. Some people are just bad losers.

Francisco Bustamante, has time for everyone.

Joe Kerr from Ohio was very nice to me every time I saw him. He did so much for the game in that area.
