Do people really have an interest in how their case looks?

When I came to AZB I was amazed to see people caring about designs on their case. Some cases don't even have storage space for other supplies.

It honestly reminds me of highschool when we cared what our backpacks looked like.

I'm not complaining, it's just odd. I think pool is the only game where some people like to design their storage cases.

I mean, once I win a few US Opens, then I'll worry about cosmetics.

First......

So you don't want to buy the case in my avatar :)? I don't think there is anything wrong with spending some coin on a nice case and caring about the design or how it looks. It doesn't take away from how I play the actual game, and I have a nice case to look at to carry my weapon in. You can have the similar comment with pool cues that you have with cases to an extent (minus the playing pool with the cue as opposed to the case part).

I do have the same argument with cues. Of course everyone is free to do what they want, but how often are you even looking at your case?

only sport ?

I spent $600 on my bat bag - and thats a cheap one . . . .
baseball haz bin beddy beddy good to me . . . .

Although I find it strange to see some cases with elaborate designs, but no room to hold other supplies. Maybe they have secret compartments.

I'm not ~ but SHE is !
I can't tell how good my ass looks in straight -leg Levis , either ~ but SHE can !

Daily, and I make sure to sacrifice one piece of chalk to it at night to appease it so it will take care of my cues.

A real nice case is usually way more functional than cheaper cases. Pockets and such. Carrying handles, straps. Some people spend thousands for wheels for their ride, I think thats crazy. Carrying a packpack in high school sort of dates you. Nothing wrong with being young mind you. Sometimes I feel like I am 16 years old. Usually in the shower.

I dont think you get out much. Have you seen recent bowling ball bags, golf bags, tennis racquet bags? People who care about a sport tend to splurge on the sport. Does it make them a better player? Hell no. Does it make them feel better? Hell yeah.

This is a tennis racquet bag:

Look familiar?!?!

The last time I bowled was maybe 15 years ago, I never saw the designer bags like in your pics.

I watch alot of tennis, even juniors and such, and I never see anyone with a special bag. It must be just the millionaire tennis players at local clubs.

Beware of any man that walks into a pool room with an expensive, ornate case with nothing but a cheap cue inside.

By gosh, he's a hustler!! :D

Let me ask you this, do you care about how your treat the family jewels?
Of course you do, thats why you wear Hanes boxer briefs.

You want to afford your cues the same comfort and protection.

Protection and function are important. I need big pockets to keep all my doo dads in.

Protection is IMHO paramount over "LOOKS", but I know people who use Two Rubber Bands from a Bunch of Lettus to secure a Butt Section, and Shaft Section for Transport coming, and going to Play Pool.

If you could drive the Car of your DREAMS would it be this,

or something with a litte PAZAZ.

Believe it or not, you care about the look of your case.....grab a giant, hot pink purse, put some tubes in it, and rock it to the pool hall.....I'm guessing that wouldn't last long.....because you want your case to be minimalist, yet functional....cause that is the look you like....

I have a basic ghettofab case, but it protects my stuff.....on the other hand, I love my sweet pimped out Adidas golf bag.....and I might even get a nicer pool case, but I like the fact that nobody will steal the ugly one I have :D

I LOVE the looks of some of the crazy-expensive cases, but I'm too cheap these days to shell out the bucks...

I knew a gentleman in California who Case Case, and Accessory Holder was WHITE PVC PIPE with Plastic CAPS. He had his Cue Wrapped in some Baby Flannel cloth, and then Slid it into the PVC TUBE. Dropped in his Chalk, Willard, Tip Tapper on top of the Flannel at one end of the Tube. Looked AWEFUL, Protected his old Willie Hoppe Cue GREAT!

We are all of course different but I can honestly say you are missing out on something so nice. I just love cues and cases, mostly cues. I look at my cues often, and play with them all from time to time. It´s like art, I bet you do appreciate something that you are willing to both spend time and money on even though a few people doesn´t understand why.
The cues I like most is the ones that I have ordered direct from the maker because in most cases the cue gets even better because the dealing with the maker was such a pleasure.
On the other hand I can also agree on that it is a tool for playing pool and it should do the job right, the bad sticks I put aside. I havn´t any top, top dollar cues but if I had they should get played with and if they couldn´t play because the maker concentrated on the looks only it´s not a good cue in my book.

Take care

Chrippa
