Why is Wych so critical of the US players?

And where the heck is Michaela Tabb?!

5-4 USA on the hill!

I truly believe if they broadcasted this event on ESPN it would be a smash hit!! I mean the crowd alone makes me fricking nervous!!!! Its so loud and ever shot is really exciting and swings the match. Does anybody else think this???

100% agree with you. This kind of atmosphere would attract people who might not normally be interested. Its a shame this is on live TV over there and we have to struggle to find a live stream.

People on this forum have been saying that live presentation of this sport is the only way to truly get fan interest.

ESPN will play editted matches 6 months after the fact and they will get shit ratings, for reasons that should be obvious.

Crap promotion and marketing in billiards by Matchroom, ESPN and crew. Nothing new for this sport. Par for the course.

It truly is more about the venue than the players, I think.

Mainstream Americans don't have any respect for pool. The image of a pool room casts a vision of an opium den where women aren't allowed and cigar smoke fills the air. Mainstream Americans think pool rooms are frequenetd by scoundrels and scalliwags. They have no idea who SVB or Johnny Archer is.

It is not quite the same in non-American countries, where snooker also comes into play. There is a respect for pocket billiard games elsewhere.

Even within the American pool culture, professional-caliber play is not as popular as most diehard pool enthusiasts would like. There is more interest league play and amateur pool.

I hate to say this, but what makes it seem exciting for TV viewership is those Euros pounding their feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, and blowing their air horns. :grin-square:

Oh how i much i hate nineball. What a great second match going on. Ralph can't find the speed of the table, and a big fluke shot. Great Great match
