Mr Hatch, I saw that one coming

In the words of that great American ' It's easy to critisise..... and fun too'
If you don't know of which great American i refer to , clue : he lives in Springfield.

Hello Jam,tell keith I said howdy if you would.Always liked Keith just like everyone! I'm John Brumback,I think he'll remember me.Anyway I really like the way you put that. It's the dam truth! Why would any pro come on here and have to put up with all that crap??? As for me I'm going to try to be very very careful what I say.and it's mostly going to be to my buds and people I know and or like. yeah, I haven't ever missed a ball from this computer yet.I don't blame them at all. Thanks for your time.Like reading your posts.Ok I'm done.John

John, thanks for being one of the few to engage in discussion here. We are all better off for it. I really think that this type of interaction can really promote the game and garner fans in the process.

Thanks to Dennis Hatch as well as the rest of the players ON BOTH TEAMS! It was a really exciting event that was interesting on multiple levels.

Cheers and happy playing to all...

Dennis played much better than Rodney or Shane by far.

Seriously I watched most of the cup and Dennis in no way played better then Shane, and you claim "by far"? Umm, no.

If one adds up the unforced errors Shane made way less errors then Dennis did, hell Shane made less unforced errors in the event then Dennis made in the match against Darren alone.

You said in one of your posts "Sit on your couch and watch US" You are referring to yourself as one of the team or a pro that we may watch on the streams. Please can you tell me who you are? I am not critisizing your post at all just wondering who you are.

Calm down and don't get your thong in a bunch. Ok maybe not by far. I'm a huge fan of both SVB and Hatch. It's just funny that no one is commenting on the bad misses Shane had at the begginning of the Cup or about how bad Rodney played. I have the upmost respect for all of those guys, including Europe but the fact of the matter is that we have all seen better play from all those guys.

I think that you may have me confused with someone else. What post are you referencing?

Pros are peeps. They're "pros" because they consistently play really, REALLY gr8 pool, however, they are human and put their pants, knickers or thongs on like the rest of us.

Those of us that were there will never forget the six in the side that REMPE missed on his way to a world championship that got away in the mid seventies. Some of the worlds best have missed with ball in hand...you never know.

i applaud all of the participants for putting on a super show under enormous pressure

I think he was quoting what Hatch said.

Ah, rossaroni shed some light here. In the post I think that you mean, I had pulled a quote from Dennis Hatch's post from yesterday, so the quote I think you mean really originated from the Hatchet Man himself!

I provided a link to that thread in that post.

Cheers...

I am calm, my not agreeing with you and telling you so is simply that.

I have commented on a few pool matches. Most of them with 2-3 different camera angles at my disposal.

Unless you are the one bent over the shot you can't say what should have been done. If I had to hire a player to make a shot to save my life, Dennis would be on the short list. He's amazing, and human.

I REALLY appreciate the top players that play in these matches and allow us all to have some really awesome matches to sweat and discuss.

Dennis and the whole USA team ROCK!!

USA USA USA (insert your best Joe Rogan Earl impersonation) {I love that guy}

Well, apparently he was just on here yesterday:

"Until you are out there and you have to fade that pressure keep your uneducated opinions to yourself. It's a lot tougher out there than you think it is so don't sit on your couch, watch us on your computer and bash all of us. It's not fair. Sometimes we play bad and sometimes we play good. When we play good we're hero's and when we play bad we're bums. "

Logan, I was mistaken. Sorry about that, I missed that you were quoting Hatch. My bad.

It's easy to say how he "should" have played that shot. Who here hasn't ever overrolled a shot by a couple inches in say a regional or local tournament? Maybe in a league you lose a match due to a slightly over/under hit shot. The fact of the matter is this guy is playing for the pride of his entire country, few people here will ever experience that kind of pressure. The alternative is he could have under hit the 7 easy and left a long 8 in the jaws of the pocket. Would that have been any better? I believe he was doing what ANY player would do when put under the maximun pressure in a match, that is shooting the shot that gave him the best chance to win under the circumstances he was playing. I saw the shot, 1 inch less roll and he gets out and hes the hero of the day. Give the guy a break is all I'm saying.

Over Rated Hatch

I think that poor play on the 7 to 8 may have cost US the cup.

I saw the shot he had, though to myself, I'd make sure I stayed up high enough not to get near the 9. Then I saw him line up the angle he wanted, and I though again, that's a bit close, hope he hits it up higher on the rail. And then... he made the mistake that most A players would avoid much less pros.

I was here yesterday and spoke my mind about Mr Hatch. I was attacked by some of the star struck members who get off on the fact that a "pro" (if you want to call Hatch that) stop by and posts now and then. You are right on with your above comment. Hatch needs to be dropped from team USA and so does Morris. These two guys were talking all kinds of trash the week before the match and got their butts kicked. Morris was saying how he changed cues and his stance tweaked his stroke, stopped eating cheese puffs after midnite ect......And he is in top form and the best in the world. Well Mr Morris you forgot to show up 1-5 come on man! Hatch 3-3 due to a few choke shots. Lets bring Earl back and find some new blood. Im sure I will be getting jumped on for saying it but I don't really give 2 craps. Oh and people Dennis Hatch USED ALL OF YOU to get the votes after he made the team you were all dirt under his feet. Sad but true!! Don't beleive me just go look at what he posted to a member yesterday when he made a comment about The match against Appleton. Hatch attacked him. No respect for Hatch ZERO!

Great Mosconi Cup

This was an Exciting cup. Europe played better as a team pure and simple. As far as missing a crucial shot, adrenaline and pressure can make anyone look like a rookie at a given time.

I have played enough and watched enough pros play to realize it happens to everyone if you are a competitor. Thanks Jay for the great commentary. It is refreshing to hear your knowledge of the match yet with a humility in your voice.

For all competitors know one of the things that is so great about this game is no matter how good you are, or you think you are, it will humble you from time to time. You just hope its the other guy or girl.

All in all...how cool was that! I loved the format, I loved watching live...and I loved all the good play on both sides.
Mika, Ralf, don't really know the other guys but these two are great guys and great players.
That being said...I love my boys!!! The good, bad and the ugly. Press the stakes and see how strong America gets!!!

Very interesting when someone exploits the forum for their own benefit, then criticizes those very same people who gave him the opportunity to represent the USA in the first place, when they criticize his errors.

I guess everyone's uneducated opinions really mattered when Dennis could benefit from them, but now that he no longer needs people to get on mosconi cup, all those opinions are trash.

Maybe they should put it up for a vote again next year just to see who comes to the forums, begging and crying for all those uneducated opinions, to vote for them so they can represent the USA and basically get paid for winning a popularity contest.

Did Dennis really get his butt kicked? I believe he has only lost 3 matches in 2 years at the Mosconi Cup against some of the best players in the world. Pretty sporty in my opinion!! If Dennis and Rodney need to be dropped from the team, who would replace them? You would be very hard pressed to come up with 5 better players, not including the other 3 that were on the team this year. Bottom line is the ENTIRE TEAM USA got beat, not just one person.

Dennis never exploited this forum this year when Team America lost, rather... he asked for votes last year when Team America won and he was considered to be the hero. I think we got our moneys worth. And I also believe Dennis is correct when it comes to being uneducated about what it is like to be out there. Not one of us who post here besides Mr. Hatch really knows what it's like to be playing in York hall against team Europe. I for one would be happy to vote in favor of him again next year, he will be ready and a monster.
