Mr Hatch, I saw that one coming

Hatch played great again this year. You can't blame him for hooking himself on the 9 there. That happens to every player once in a while, it was just the wrong moment for it to happen.
Remember his gentle roll off the frozen 4 behind the 8 or his jumpshot along the rail where he made the two off the 3? Highest standard of play

But in the end a team wins and a team loses and as Archer said the Europeans got their breakshot working faster than the Americans which was the key to success.
You can't blame Hatch or Rodney who did some strange fire and forget shots to catch a lucky nine...
You can't blame the crowd or any rolls as both teams had good and bad rolls

It was just Appleton and rookie Boyes (would've been a deserved MVP as well) and the whole team making up for an out-of-sort Kaiser on the first days.

If you don't win the Cup with Souquet out of sorts as he was thursday and friday you don't deserve the cup. Look at how many games were lost because of Souquet's errors
Would've been a 11-5 or 11-6 if his shoulder would've been ok

And don't forget, you're on home soil next year again and Hatch is in my eyes the most patriotic player out there and he'll be the secret weapon again.
IF there's anybody you Americans should drop off the team it's Rodney, he's far too relaxed sometimes taking shots like he's banging with a couple of friends

Dennis never exploited this forum this year when Team America lost, rather... he asked for votes last year when Team America won and he was considered to be the hero. I think we got our moneys worth. And I also believe Dennis is correct when it comes to being uneducated about what it is like to be out there. Not one of us who post here besides Mr. Hatch really knows what it's like to be playing in York hall against team Europe. I for one would be happy to vote in favor of him again next year, he will be ready and a monster.

I know full well when he asked for votes.

How quickly he forgets who gave him that opportunity to play initially.
The very same people who's criticism he can't handle.

I seriously doubt the guys dogging on him this year voted for him last year.

All this finger pointing sucks big time !

Twas beauty that killed the beast !

Beauty would be the Euro's breaking !

Thats where it was lost imho.

Pros are peeps. They're "pros" because they consistently play really, REALLY gr8 pool, however, they are human and put their pants, knickers or thongs on like the rest of us.

Those of us that were there will never forget the six in the side that REMPE missed on his way to a world championship that got away in the mid seventies. Some of the worlds best have missed with ball in hand...you never know.

i applaud all of the participants for putting on a super show under enormous pressure

Well said Adam, positive rep to you buddy. I agree, however I do think snatching defeat from what looked like certain victory in that match was a big momentum killer for the US and I think the play in the following doubles match was a direct result of the downer losing that match caused. Did it cost the US the cup, probably not since the US regained some strong momemtum in the morning session on Sunday.

I think the Euroes just played better than the US team overall. In another thread someone mentioned the break being a big differentiator, the Euroes were breaking with much better results than the Americans. In these alternate break short races one or two dry breaks will make the difference between winning and losing a match.

If they played next week USA could win, the next week Europe could win. IMO its that close which makes for a perfect match to watch! Appleton said they are better players. Maybe in this format, but not for the cash. Just ask him and Mika;)

I'd love to know what gives you this thought. Not sure why people aren't allowed to be somewhat skeptical when they were basically used for votes and then heard nothing from that person for a year. Ever consider MOST of the people dogging him are the ones who voted for him last year and feel slighted? They were excited to have a great player like Mr. Hatch posting on here and contributing his knowledge and experience, and then he vanished. Considering he got $15K last year for winning and $7500 this year for being on the team, thats $22.5K that AZ helped him pocket, I think they've bought a little *****ing and moaning if they want it.

True round robin, 5 peeps team format, races to 30 or 10 ahead for 7 digits would be the cat's meow

teams selected via qualifiers

Lets see. How do i word this so that it is clear and to the point.

CHA-CHING!!!!!

I voted last year for Hatch not because he petitioned here on AZ but because I liked his talent and style, I still admire him for those same attributes.

I like Johnny Archer a ton also although he scratched in the side towards the end of his match. I also like Shane even though he over cut a few. Right after Ralf choked 2 or 3 shots in a row I still think he belongs in this match. I guess IMHO for me it shouldn't matter at what part of the match a player fails because everyone fails, these guys just fail less then we do.
Everyone on AZ that feels like they were tricked into voting for Hatch last year can be as mad as they want, but our boys have won as a team and this year they lost ....as a team.

Was Dennis all the way hook on the 9 when he try to spin in the 8?(last game)I thought he could see a good part of the 8.I was hoping he would play the 8 3 rails down table and sticking the cb behind the 9.You cant say the Man didnt have any chances. I also feel this match was a turning point for Europe. What a great match though!

I don't really care how he played. I agree completely it was a team effort and team loss. You won't hear me b****ing about his play one bit. I simply referred to you saying he posted here from time to time and how that wasn't true and that he disappeared from the forum after winning the Cup last year. Then you said that you didn't think anyone saying anything voted for him last year and I think you're really wrong. I'm more than sure alot of people who wear anxious for his involvement after he came here campaigning for votes feel somewhat slighted at his lack of interaction the past year.

Dude you sort of lost me there but I did get that you think I am really wrong. LOL I am not going back and reread my posts but I don't remember saying he posted here from time to time. And yes you could say he found a way to make this forum work when few other pros have. If that means he disappears for a long period then I guess Superstar said it best. I still say we voted for him last year and he was MVP.

Sorry, you're right, it was another poster that said he posted here from time to time. Sorry, going on about an hour or so of sleep the last day and a half, lol.

It's cool I don't debate here very often because...well I suck at it:D. I know what its like to be exhausted, in fact tonights going to be a short one.

Ah, yes. A story of unrequited love. We AZ members are a spurned lover and demand satisfaction. So, he pocketed $22,500 as a result of OUR vote. $22,500 / 20,201 AZ members (as of 9:12 EST) = $1.11 each. So, shall that be our cut for Mr. Hatch's efforts, or shall we decide to alot a portion of that sum to him?

Look, would Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson EVER take the time to respond to ANYONE on an internet forum about how they missed a put or misread a green? Negative. This sport (and this forum) is nice because the players are "accessible" compared to other sports.

Just food for thought...

Team Europe got to 11 points 1st...Period...doesnt matter how..Congrats !

I've staked pool games that we lost even tho i felt i had the better player plus were in matches where i felt we outrun it...Hats off to team Europe for their win.

Ps..One particular match I staked Scotty Townsend against one of our local guys "Jason Lafluer" on the lil table with Scotty G giving him the 6..race to seven...it was 6/5 Jason...Jason gets st8 in on the 6 "A stop shot" in the 12th game & i was like Chit !!! starting to think if we were gonna fire another barrel & Jason gets down & shoots it with alot of emotion & draws it completey in the opposite side...Scotty wins that game & then breaks & runs out the next...we win the set but shouldnt have & no I didn't give Jason his money back...point is...Shit happens especially in pool....I Saw some great pool played by both teams @ time..some near perfect some not...The reason people keep playing high level pool is the thrive to be the best & playto the highest level that they can...Even the sets that I've seen that were won by the player running the set out had a few lil lucky rolls & kisses that could have very well went the other way...I tip my hat to both teams for putting it on the line & shooting a great match all in all no matter what the final score wound up.

Most of the time your the windshield, but sometimes your the bug... Thanks U.S.Team for your efforts and congrats Europeans for your win...

Hello Jam,tell keith I said howdy if you would.Always liked Keith just like everyone! I'm John Brumback,I think he'll remember me.Anyway I really like the way you put that. It's the dam truth! Why would any pro come on here and have to put up with all that crap??? As for me I'm going to try to be very very careful what I say.and it's mostly going to be to my buds and people I know and or like. yeah, I haven't ever missed a ball from this computer yet.I don't blame them at all. Thanks for your time.Like reading your posts.Ok I'm done.John

Wow! I am so pleased to meet you, even if it is on a pool forum. I feel honored. Congratulations on your recent One Pocket Hall of Fame induction. :)

I think you actually do *get* it, John, as I noticed your join date of 2008 with only 11 posts. :p

One famous author of pool books told me that he lurks on AzBilliards quite often but does not post anything. When I asked him why, he said that if you reply to someone and they reply back and it becomes unpleasant, then you feel compelled to continue the colloquy. He enjoys the forum much better at a distance. I can kind of relate to that. ;)

Keith sends his regards and congratulations. Hope we meet someday, John, in person.
