Rank your achievements

Congratulations, just the type of things I was looking for.

Had the highest score in the country on the National Boards Part I in medical school; then did it again on Part II. Unfortunately I couldn't even run 3 fricking balls at the time. I'm doing better than that now....

All that you mentioned are real and worthy.

Why not post the other ones which you said are "real" I think both that you mentioned are impressive.

Lots of people have probably hit 2 HR's in a game, much fewer 2 in one inning, even fewer 2 in one inning switch hitting. That's a small group.

why not....

in high school I was up to bat in the 1st inning just looking to move the runner over (bunting). I decided to do it left handed (drag), since I was quite fast back then, and I could beat out a throw if I laid down a good one. First pitch was a bit high....called strike. 2nd pitch I laid one down the 3rd base line really well, but it rolled foul. With 2 strikes I now had to swing away. CRACK - went yard over the right-center field fence. Team batted around, and my 2nd at bat in the 1st inning I went yard again, this time right handed! lol. I'm sure it's been done before (since switch hitting is very prevalent nowadays), but it was pretty cool at the time. Same year we had a kid hit 2 grand slams in one inning too....BUT, both of his were right handed (I still remind him of that, lol). :p

Another maybe, less rare thing - I've had 2 hole in ones. One of them was on a 330 yard par 4. And just this year, I kind of equaled the 1 on a par 4 with a nice little 2 on a par five (520 yard hole).

I have had many other things I consider REAL accomplishments, but the sports related ones are more FUN.

I put this in the main forum as opposed to Non Pool, because I think there will be a lot of pool accomplishments.

Please rank the thing you have done in your life which you consider to be the rarest accomplishment vs the number of people who could do it.

Example, You win the US Open pool tourney. not many people can do that
You have flown a plane (more people can do that)
You scored perfect on your SAT
You've been on ESPN
You made 200k in a year
You shot a 60 in Golf
You ran a race to 7 out from the coin toss
You scored 4 touchdowns in a game
You played in the NFL

Whatever it is

So, it's the one thing you have done, that you think the fewest number of other people in the world have done. It could very well end up being something like winning a local bar tournament. I don't care, just interested to see all the different answers.

Thanks.

Big Ed would come into the pool hall twice a day and regardless of who the available opponents on the rail were, would always offer the same deal: one set; race to four; 1pocket; for $200.

One day he came in for what the regulars called the "Matinee Show" and I leapt up before my competitors, and we played and he got me stuck 0-3. Somewhat unbelievably (because I was just learning to play 1pocket at the time) I came back, winning four in a row.

Later that night Big Ed came in for the "Cocktail Show" with the standard proposition: one set; race to four; 1pocket; for $200. Once again, he got me stuck 0-3, and even more unbelievably I came back to beat him 4-3. Again.

On his way out of the pool hall he passed Al who was sitting on the rail and he cautioned him, "Ed, if I were you, I'd avoid any bridges on the way home tonight."

U12,
Not really. I was MUCH prouder this summer when I broke and ran the last 2 racks for all the cash in a 10 ball match on the tightest table I've ever seen (Cue and Cushion in St. Louis), against a superior opponent. MUCH, MUCH prouder this week when I ran 2 racks (non-consecutive) of 15 ball rotation on a tight Diamond against a pro...very cool (a year ago I was struggling to run out 9-ball racks). Still there are a lot of better players on AZB, so I'm heading back to the woodshed....bye....

A lot of people could have done this, but it's still one of the things I'm really proud of, so I'll rank it high :)

In Manila a family of 4 (to be 6) were sleeping in the street, just outside the poolhall, and I bought food, diapers and blankets for them daily. Then I collected lots of autographs on a poster during World 9-ball Championship, sold it, and used the money to buy more for them next time I went to Manila. My nephews aged 6 and 8 even gave me some of their savings for this :)

Been there 3 times, and I've bought them food and stuff every time.

It's impossible to save the world alone, but you can make a difference in someone's life, atleast for a day.

Don't know what they are doing now :(

-Ran 12 racks unfinished on a barbox.
-Made 8 balls on the break playing 9 ball on a Gold Crown 9' table.
-I'm one of only two people to win our city championship bar table tournament twice before leagues got going strong. (was non-league)
-Won the 6th Naval District 8 ball championship.
- One of very few people that have driven a submarine, a semi-truck, and flown an airplane.
- One of very few people that have taken a dump at test depth on a submarine and on a transatlantic airplane. :D
-Was a Missile Technician on the only sub I know of that has launched 24 Intercontinental Ballistic Nuclear Missiles. We launched all 16 in one test launch, another two times launched 4.

I like all this, but you could have saved the info about taking a dump! :D
By the way, I hope none of those ICBM"s blew up. I guess I would have heard about it if they did. Five million fish are exterminated!

Pool Wise.......

Took a local 5 to a 9 in a couple years.....his first session as a 9 he was league MVP, Points Champ, 90% win ratio !!! very proud of my pony.
NOT TO MENTION ALL OTHERS OVER THE YEARS THATS I'VE TAUGHT OR HELPED TO BETTER THEIR GAMES...............

My Most notable student would have to be az's own Mnorwood (Marucs Norwood) not based off his cueing expertise but for his love of the game ever since I got him hook hooked lol. Friends for nearly a Decade and he was founded his own afterschool pool program and runs one of the best pool instructional sites on the net on youtube.................he gets the rep for my most notable student by means of MERITOUS SERVICE. So through him and b/c of him I have inderectly helped and introduced many many others to this game.....I wish everyone i worked with had as much to give back as this man does.

7 Racks 8 Ball B&R on BB
7 Racks 9 Ball B&R on 9' / 9 rack B&R BB 9B

9 banks in row on 9'
12 banks in a row on 7'

Went to Gradys Gulf Coast Classic in 04' not knowing how to play One pocket....Ray Martin showed me really quick and I played Joe MacNamara first round race to 3 and I lost 3-2.

My first rack I broke I made the corner ball and ran 7 played safe and kicked my last ball in for a 2 inning out. I lost the last game by 1 freaking ball and the match took us 5.5 hours to play:cool::thumbup::wink: (always been really proud about that)

Beat the Crap out of Bobby Pickle and Ronnie Allen in Golf, with Earl watching tape on fingers and everthing at the time lmfao.......even after they tried to pull a move on me and by putting Ronnie ahead of me lol......I still didn't miss and switched from making Ronnie pay out his a** for hickies to handing that pickle over to a pickle himself lol.

Top 10 finish McDermott All American Stop 06.....B&R 20+ racks of 8 ball in that tourney. (If memory serves me correct I believe it was 23)

Non Sport:

Cuemaking

Selected to attend one of the countrys top HS.......and full paid academic and athletic scholarships to college. Tho I never finished my degree I'm very proud of my education and in continuing it out of the classroom.

Became a Pneumatic tech in under 3 years of working offshore and landed a position as such for one of the worlds most productive oil and gas companies......tho the BP spill saw to taking away those 11 months of awesome job.

Becoming a respected memeber of the pool community for reasons OTHER than how well I can or can't play. I made the Grey Ghost and now sometimes I think he makes me......but he is a creation of mine that I'm def proud of, all the kind messages I get from so many of you are a token to that and make it more than worth the wile:thumbup:

I'm most proud of my ability to just keep going, just keep trying......without it I don't think I would have ever accomplished any of the things I mentioned above.

You're a good man charlie Brown! I knew I liked you from the start. Just think if all of us saved just one family!

Thinking about what were my greatest personal accomplishments on a pool table: Once during a 9-Ball match, four times in a row I was hooked on the object ball. They were all out in the open, none near a rail. Each time I kicked the ball cleanly in the pocket, and got hooked on the next ball. Four in a row! Never done anything like it before or since. I wish I could remember who my opponent was all these years later. It happened at the House Of Billiards in Van Nuys in the 80's.

Second on my list is the few times when practicing Short Rack Banks I've run all nine balls. I've done this maybe three or four times in my life. It ain't so easy! :)

Royboy,
Very admirable. Are you sure you are a pool player? I'm starting to wonder...

I'm hopefully heading to Manila for a month in 2012, your post has definitely made me re-think my budget planning.

I came within 2 games of beating tommy kennedy at one of his tournys. I later that same night put a 5 pack on him....then he ran 7 straight lol.

I lost only one match, my first, in full contact martial arts competitions. Fought 5 years 21 & 1.

I guess that was supposed to be something funny.

Epic fail, especially for a serious thread.

I am changing my reply to "While you are telling the great achievements, also put down the 2 things you are the most ashamed of that you ever did" and I will consider this a serious thread.

Ran a 4 pack of eight ball on 9 footer

During a varsity singles tennis match me and Paul Francois from Mariner High school started a rally at 3-3 in the first set that lasted one hour and 10 minutes. The whole team was watching because all there matches had ended. I got a side ache and went for a winner and missed long. It was reported in the school paper

As a baseball pitcher I picked off three straight line drives in one inning.

I've made 5 wing shots in a row on a snooker table

Hosted a weekly open mic playing guitar and singing covers.

Have spent 10 years winning $100 to $200 net every month playing casino games (not poker)

The semi truck, not a big deal, the airplane pretty big deal, being a bubble head really big deal. That may be the hardest to do accomplishment yet. E school is pretty exclusive
