How a person dresses is a form of communication. We have a staff of 40 employees. How we dress is one of the ways we communicate respect toward our patrons, the place of work, and ourselves. I require the patrons to display a mutual respect to one another and to my staff. If a person does not understand this concept, I don't need his business.

I agree... About 50% of those rules are ridiculous. To stuffy for my taste.I like to relax after a hard day not worry about my attire.
 
Its good to keep a certain level of class in your place. I don't get the whole sideways hat thing and the oversized white t shirts fad that most of the people my age pertain to. One thing though, I sometimes play pool after work in my uniform, so I wouldn't be able to play in your room? Also I have semi long hair about nine inches and frequently wear a beanie to cover it up or even a backwards hat, would this be frowned upon?
 
I don't quite get the part about the "work clothes" and "work boots". Wouldn't it be a matter of where someone works? White collar workers wear "nice" clothes to work all the time, and would obviously make the dress code.

On another note... what if some military people came there in their uniforms? I have no idea how close to a base you are, but I bet you would be fine with them (and rightly so), yet they are coming in "work clothes".

Guess I just come from a generation where a young lady doesn't use the word in public either verbally or figuratively. Must be in the minority here. There is no common decency anymore. Not aware of any such store but if it exists, they must have an unusual clientele. Just don't see the humor here. JMHO.

There are many many young women today who do not buy into the vulgar culture. You are not in a minority. There is common decency. Come to my place. You will see it on display every day.

I do not tolerate profane language, women or no women present. When someone swears, it shows stupidity and ignorance.

Do you mean families don't sit down to dinner together anymore?

Do you mean you can't walk around your block after dark anymore?

Do you mean teenagers don't respect the law anymore?

Do you mean cops can't defend themselves without getting sued anymore?

Do you mean people don't have enough respect to wear their pants around their waist anymore?

Or do you mean you can't even say Merry Christmas anymore.

I could go on and on, and if this is what you mean ..... you're right, sadly, very sadly, it's not 1950 anymore.

Everyone has moral values. Some are unfortunately much lower than others. I for one applaud the people who have the balls to stand up for higher values. Values that show respect and decency for others. Values that say if you are going to act like a pig do it someplace else. You are not allowed to do it in my private establishment.

Go infect some public gathering place where the politicians dare not put their decency and values before votes, but keep your scummy butt out of my private house.

I couldn't say it any better. I live half a world awwillprobably never get to Gold Crown, but I applaud Paul's actions on the behalf of public decency and standards of dress and behavior.

For those who don't agree, there are plenty of places to play where you can show you ass if you want.

Imagine this. You are planning an expansion for your business, maybe adding a bar/restaurant to your room. You invite bankers in to inspect your business. They see trashy girls with inappropriate attire, thug looking patrons with their hats on sideways and their buttocks hanging outside their pants, and every fourth word is the F word. See how that sells.
 
OK, when i win the lottery i am moving there. It's your place and you set the rules. Don't like the rules? Go play somewhere else! Happens to be rules I personally like. My current room has 8 or 9 nine footers with at least 4 or 5 tv's all going at once, several radios/juke boxes mostly going at once. The predominant music is either rap/rap like or heavy metal/acid rock, all at levels that during APA night you have to shout at your opponent. The tables are in bad shape, hardly ever cleaned, balls the same way, with so many pits in the one balls that you are afraid to shoot them. It's a very small town, and that's the BEST place to play short of driving 35 miles. Don't know how much longer I can take it lol. I have my own set of Aramith pro's but dont often take them as each time they go into a pocket, they come out covered in dirt.

No, I mean people don't wear suits to the movies anymore. People don't wear suits out to dinner anymore.
How you dress does send a message I agree, but I don't think how one dresses has the least bit to do with moral values. Clothing doesn't mean a thing at all about the quality of a person.
Admittedly much of the clothing mentioned on that list for the just looks stupid to me and makes the wearer look dumb, but don't make clothing more than it is. My parents didn't like my pegged pants, cuban heels, and duck's ass hair style in the 50s, but somehow I made it through it and was a decent moral person before, during, and after that phase. (and yes I looked stupid with my pegged pants, cuban heels, and duck's ass haircut)
For instance a guy bust his hump at a construction site all day and wants to stop by and shoot a little pool before going home... tough luck bud, you're not good enough for our place.
 
His rules are most likely very attractive to many patrons.. I would not have a problem with his rules, if I did, I'd frequent another establishment. The dress code is quite strict but if it keeps the clientele coming back, he must be doing something right if he's been in business for 32 years.

I'd personally like to visit a room like Pauls as we have nothing like that around here. If it works for Paul, & it apparently does, good for him. I wish him much more success down the road as well.

I disagree. It most certainly does. We communicate in many ways and one of those ways is with attire. Not only do words have meaning, manners have meaning, conduct has meaning, and yes, clothes have meaning too.

When a man walks with his chest puffed out, all leathered-out with a muscle shirt, bandanna, and black boots on, I get his message. He does not have to say a thing.
