Johnny is 30 minutes late, so the match starts with him down 6-0.
Sound fair?
If the race is to 6 or 7, yes.
If the race is to 5, no.

What the heck does this OPINION you have do with the rules?
There's a huge difference between right and wrong in life.
One's integrity and actions and how we treat others is who we are as a person and whats right in life.
''Lets be honest'', what a crock/misconstrued statement you threw in there trying to define whats right and wrong in life.
You sound like a rich kid who missed his flight because you arrived at the gate ten minutes late and complained all the way home because the plane and everyone on it didn't wait for you.
This OPINION has nothing to do with the rules and everything to do with the fact that he wouldn't have been mad if he would have won. He thought he dodged a bullet and didn't have to play JA.
I'm not the one who didn't forfeit Archer, I had nothing to do with it, if I did, I may have forfeited him. But that doesnt change the fact that his thread was started because the OP lost and is bitter. Rightfully so, but it doesn't change the fact.
When you are driving 15mph over the speed limit and you see a cop up the road, do you slow down? I would image you don't since you have so much integrity and its only 'right in life' that you get a ticket. But I'm sure you have never broke the rules like that.

.
Why enter a tournament like DCC if you want to win by forfeit? You gonna tell your grandkids how you got 7/8th at DCC nineball one year and that you forfeited out one of the greatest all time to get there because he was 20 minutes late? This reminds me of all the handicapped tournaments where a kid doesn't want to win because his handicap will go up and he never gets better. I just don't get why some of you even play pool.

Flip that around. Do you think the OP would get a break from JA if he were that late? Would JA want to win the whole thing, even knowing he had forfieted someone for "just being late"?
LOL.
Now you are enlightened?
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
How do you determine which rules are to be followed and which are OK to break?...I can't understand how any of you could feel good about forfeiting JA ...
Is it a big deal for JA to beat a nobody in a tournament? He's won hundreds of big tournaments and this is his livelihood. He's trying to make a living. Amateur players should try to get to his level and you're never going to do it unless you play better players.
I can't understand how any of you could feel good about forfeiting JA or any other top tier player that's trying to make a living for being a little late. I'd wait until it was obvious he wasn't going to show up for the chance to beat one of the best all-time. It's sad that players just don't care about getting better these days, they'd rather win a few bucks by any means neccessary.
You couldn't even brag to your friends about finishing well in the DCC because they'd all know about the asterisk next to your name and how you got there. There's no feeling of accomplishment.
How do you determine which rules are to be followed and which are OK to break?
I'm with you, man, but seriously, it may be time to erase the derogatory term 'apa 2' from your vocabulary. I have a very good friend who is an APA 2 (sometimes 3) who has more heart than anybody I know. He is one of the players to whom I will never play down my game. He is a competitor of the highest order, but it is his unfortunate burden that he has a brain/nervous system problem that causes his muscles to not obey his commands. Please find another term for whatever it is you are trying to imply.
Thanks.
