Its On!! TAR 20: Strickland vs Van Boening at IceBreakers Billiards

I think the break could be interesting. The distance from the cue ball to the head ball on the break is lengthened, which could change the timing of the break, since the cue ball is skipping on its way to the rack. It could also make svb hit the break harder to get the same speed at impact as he has on the 9 footer. These are all small differences and I think in the end he will be make the change very quickly....however its always interesting to think of how the physics change. Cant wait to watch it!

Anyone know anything about the 5 x 10 they will be playing on? It's probably a Brunswick, but what size are the pockets? Original 5 x 10's were 5"+ buckets. If the rails have been changed to modern fast rails, then that won't be a true 5 x 10 table that you need a good stroke for IMO. Although both players have great strokes. I believe this will be TAR's biggest showing, as people tune in to watch two great players and to see pool on a 5 x 10 table. I'll be there. Johnnyt

Hey, Johnnyt-

One thing I know about this table -Isn't a Diamond :grin-square: Good to see you back.

Very excited about this. Just so happens I have this week off so I will more than likely be coming to watch this one.

I would be very surprised if Shane doesn't have his break worked out before the match starts. I am curious to see what happens to the ball distribution on a 5x10. I think this may negate some of the moving that is needed in 10 ball, as the balls will not cluster up as much as they would have on a 9 footer. This may make 10 ball much more of a run out game. Just another thing that will be interesting to see in this match.

I think Shane's high run in 10 ball (at least on video) is a 9 pack against Corey. What's the over/under for highest package in this match, and who do you think will run it. I'm thinking it will be around 4.5; I'm sure some of the line settors will chime in.

well here are the specifics

the table is a 5x10 brunswick with new cloth and new rails the pocket size is 4 3/8 inch at the opening thats the way they agreed to do it! should e a fun match!

Oh man, those are TIGHT pockets! Even smaller than the "standard tight pocket size" of 4.5" that's extolled on 9-footers these days. This is getting really interesting, folks, the more details (like this) that come out!

Salivating at this match's value,
-Sean

Everyone here knows I'm Earl's #1 fan....here... let me get this outta the way:

EARRRRRRRRRRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...

Now, that being said....

This is gonna be like watching a deer die. :sorry:

Spidy,

SHAME ON YOU!!!:( 'watching a deer die?'

Have you seen Earl play lately? He is totally different man than 2 - 3 years ago when he first played Shane.

I had the pleasure of watching him play the final match on 1 Pocket against SVB in DCC and I could see the spark in Earl's eyes. He looked focused -yet loose and HAPPY. I saw the desire in his eyes "wanting" to win which I hadn't seen in him for a long time.

I remember that first TAR Challenge Match between Earl & SVB (luckily, I was there too  ) and man I see today is 10 times more capable than THAT GUY...

I think this match could be very tight and truly entertaining!

p.s. Oh, I scored a used but signed Cuetec pool glove at DCC - that was warned by the event winner during the US Open 9 Ball - year 2000  I'm gonna frame that sucker!

Dude...

Honestly, I'm at loss for 4 out of 4 betting on TAR matches. Not counting the one that I almost bet and still would had lost. With my track record of booking 100% loss, I'm gonna stay away from betting on TAR matches for a while.

Besides, you bet too smart and scare me when you jump
