Its On!! TAR 20: Strickland vs Van Boening at IceBreakers Billiards

LMAO. No, I bet it's not a Valley either. Thank you for the welcome back. Johnnyt

Mike and Earl came to Charleston and bought a 5x10 Gold Crown table from Tuckers Billiard Supply and I assume that's the table they are going to play on. The table is in good shape and I played a couple of games of one pocket on it, but I didn't pay close attention to the size of the pockets. I was over whelmed by the size of the table. You wouldn't think that small amount of extra length and width would make that much difference, but believe me it does. That table is HUGE. It sat in Tuckers in the corner and the few times I was there I never saw anyone playing on it.

I've never seen a match on a 5x10 table and it should be interesting.

Earl has said for a long time that the 5x10 table will show who the best player is. Join us March 18-20 to see how it plays out.

Justin how much is it going to be to watch the ppv stream of this match.

Anyone know anything about the 5 x 10 they will be playing on? It's probably a Brunswick, but what size are the pockets? Original 5 x 10's were 5"+ buckets. If the rails have been changed to modern fast rails, then that won't be a true 5 x 10 table that you need a good stroke for IMO. Although both players have great strokes. I believe this will be TAR's biggest showing, as people tune in to watch two great players and to see pool on a 5 x 10 table. I'll be there. Johnnyt

Let's get crazy and go with 4.25" pockets and knap cloth! That should make it a 5 day event.

I got some pics before the table was dissasembled. This is the table they are playing on, its a GCIII. I play a lot on a Diamond Pro-am with pro cut pockets and it plays like a bar box compared to this GC. I am very excited to see how the real players fair on this table.

There is a place called The Rec in Raytown,Mo. They have a 5x10 that I think every road player has played on that ever went through there. Doug Brink has told me some of the stories.

If that table could only talk. We could probably fill up a thousand books.

For anyone that hasn't ever played on one of these Earl is right. This table will seperate the men from the boys and girls.

When you shoot a shot on that table you need to aim every shot as if it is real tough because it is.............

Going to be an Awesome match!

I really like this match up. SVC should adjust to the table shortly after a few shots on this large table, with the small pockets. congrats go out to the people who made this match possible! Thank you.

Lock N Load.

i think shane has the edge still. i predict he will win by 20 games if not more.
mostly because of the mental aspect

Evan:

With the angle those corners are cut, it looks like a ball would rattle if you just rolled it down the rail.

Evan, those pockets are tight and they cut real deep! I guess cheating the pocket is almost impossible on this table.

The pocket facing in the first pic shows curvature, will these facings stay the same or what?

the table is a 5x10 brunswick with new cloth and new rails the pocket size is 4 3/8 inch at the opening thats the way they agreed to do it! should e a fun match!

Yo guys, pay attention. The table is being altered and the pic's posted don't represent the final product. :p

Earl tends to be very particular regarding tables/spec's. I'm sure he, nor Shane, won't let a mechanic do a hack job here. (Hmm, I wonder which mechanic they'll entrust to do this?)

If Chad says 4 3/8" is the spec, then it's a good bet it'll be 4 3/8" come lag time. And the facings will surely be straighter than a wedding d***.
