Cue stolen in bar: who is responsible?

He should feel the same way i did when i left my Alex brick jump cue unattened at the last job's tournament, like a idiot!

This is easy, just do what the cops would do, Have him provide you the receipt and an unique serial number of the shaft and you'll file a report on it behind the bar.

There, the bar is being responsible!

bucking the trend...

I say that the bar should definitely take financial responsibility for every 5th cue or shaft stolen from this poor guy.

And that they should consider posting a sign stating this policy.

Best,
Brian kc

Same person probably took both shafts. I'd try to set the person up and see if I could catch them trying to steal another one.

Good bait would be a predator 314. They would be licking their chops for sure. Set up a hidden camera.

I had people stealing stuff from me. I was amazed at who it was when they got caught red handed on video.

Good Luck.............

Of course the bar is not responsible unless they were somehow in trusted.
But could you give us a few more details in how just a shaft turned up missing.
Also wondering what kind of Cuetec, was it a 360 or just a POS one?

I wouldn't sweat it if I was him....Once the thief realizes it's a Cuetec it will probably turn up back at the bar.....:)

I know a fella who left the shaft to his Cuetec cue unattended on league night and when he returned, it was missing. Now he claims it is the bar's responsibility to buy him a new shaft because this is the second time this has happened to him in that same bar, and he doesn't feel like he should have to constantly watch his equipment while shooting pool in there.

How do you all feel about this?

Roger

That is absolutely ridiculous!!! You know who is responsible for my stuff?? ME no one else

Car stolen left outside the gas station unlocked with the engine running and 2 dogs & a baby inside. Who is responsible?

Guy needs to look after his stuff a little better...

Can you imagine if the Bar took responsibility for this heist ?

I can imagine a long line of people who are all of a sudden missing a shaft they left unattended ! LMAO

It's really retarded to ask the bar to replace it. COME ON MAN !!!

The THIEF is responsible! Find him and beat him with the butt of the CueTec!!!...(imo)

I had 2 McDermotts and case stole from my home bar /pool room. The owner ,out of the goodness of his heart, gave me a stick that had been in the back , left about a year before by a guy named Ed.I never felt it was the bar owner's problem. The stick was an old Meucci merry widow. I used it for years . It was referred to by everybody as 'Dead Ed's' cue as long as I had it.

After giving this thread a second thought and second read, the question seems so daft that I am surprised you felt it worthy of a thread. I'm wondering if there was some ulterior motive here, such as you hoping to receive a landslide of "What an idiot" posts so you could show them to the guy in question?

If the bar refunds this guy, let me know where the bar is ... as I'm sure I left a huge stack of 100s unattended there and would like to be reimbursed also.

Long live Dead Ed !

No way is it the bar's responsibility, I don't care if it happened a 100 times. If the bar had a cue check room and he checked it in then it becomes the bar's responsibility.

I hate thieves. I caught a guy walking out of a bar after league with a girls case and cue. I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "I thought that was my cue". Yeah right, funny that you didn't walk into the place with one.

League nights and large pool tourneys are hunting grounds for scum bags.
Last week during the Western Canadians, at least two people lost their cues
and cases. People show up for large events like this, blend in with the crowd and wham, cues, purses and just about anything that isn't nailed down can grow legs.

I do have to give the TDs in Edmonton credit tho, they did go above and beyond to help these people retrieve their stolen cues.

Okay, a few more details:

This happened in a very large bar/pool room; and a very busy place every night of the week. This player comes in only once a week, on his league night. This player also has a reputation of being somewhat of a complainer with a bit of a temper. (Just to qualify how "good" his customer status might be considered.)

As the player tells it, he left the shaft inside his cue case, and the cue case lying on the pub table next to the pool table he was shooting on. According to him (and even with his team mates sitting all around the area) someone opened up his cue case and stole his Cuetec shaft..."and this is the 2nd time this has happened in this bar!" (His quote.)

The problem I have with all this is that the pool room owner is contemplating having me order a new shaft for the guy (I run the pro shop there) just to keep him quiet. I'm trying to convince the owner that he should not give in to extortion tactics such as this. My personal belief is that the guy probably busted his own shaft during a little temper tantrum, and now he's going to try and get a free replacement out of the owner. And giving in to this guy won't pacify him, anyway. He would just go around bragging about how he got over on the owner, and then that would really start them all lining up!

On the other hand, Travis Trotter might be lurking around the pool room just waiting for someone to leave their Cuetec shaft unguarded.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I really appreciate it.

Roger

Or maybe hoping to receive a landslide of "What an idiot" posts so I can show them to the bar owner. ;)
