Who are the 'Old Schoolers' of AZ

2702...is that old school?

If it is, I'd prefer to redeem my free gift in person...

Where is AZB Headquarters located? ;)

Thanks for the memories...(Insert Carol Burnett ear tug here)...and many more to all of us old and new

Kevin

So funny JAM,

I was just shown that video last Saturday, they pointed it out to me because that was exactly my Jack. The avatar pic is him waiting for a treat in the kitchen. And if Jack was "caught" or guilty of a doggie crime, he'd show the teeth too...happy or guilty, out came the chompers

The way I figure it, my boy Jack, since I joined here in 2004, has probably sat at my feet whilst I surfed endlessly through AZ posts for so many hours on end...how many times he'd shove his wet cold nose on my arm like, "yo, enough already with the pool stuff, let's get outside!" and usually I'd oblige...

Now that he's gone, it's nice to be reminded of him with his picture while I'm here, but I miss the cold nose ;)

Cheers, Kevin.

Your 'Search' didn't pick up me #95
Also, Mike Howerton aks AZHousepro said that he preriodically cleans up (deletes) old user members that don't post are for all practical purposes are inactive on this forum.

Based on a quick search, here are the stats I pulled up. Interestingly, the user numbers don’t match the search engine – so some folks must no longer be around…

In the first month [3/22-4/22] 126 members show up on the search, although their reg numbers appear to go much higher, including:
AzHousePro (1)
Keith (2)
Porter (3)
Grady (10)
Smorg (32)
TonyA (101)
Joe (classic) (103)
Trigger (132)
Blackjack (141)
Earl Strickland (156)
Sarah Rousey (202)
Theirry (221)
JoeyA (244)

The next month [4/23-5-24] there were only around 40 more including:
Blud (293)
Jude (338)
td873[me] (353)

Search shows 167 in the first 2 months of the new interface.

Tom,

I'm so depressed. Passed over again! Must be my lot in life .

All those Old Schoolers who are present, signify by writing "aye" in this thread.

Aye! :)

I guess it is how you define "old schoolers". I've been around AZ a long time and RSB before that, am an old-schooler in most things about life, and am relatively old at 65. Though I've only been playing a lot of pool for about 10 or 11 years, "I've come a long way baby".
I guess I am justified say "Aye". You all be the judges.:smile:

It did pick you up, but I just randomly selected names to include. You were randomly omitted! doh! Sorry!

Here's an old school photo from the Jimbo Jambo. Many old schoolers there from RSB and AZ.

If you are in this pic, you are officially an old schooler.

............

[edit: IIRC, Sherm was there too - I seem to recall we celebrated his birthday at the Jambo]

I think that pic was missing one or two others, but yes, it was Sherm's b'day. He also won the poker tourney (happy birthday, indeed).

I was just looking through the archives and my first post to alt.sport.pool seems to have been in February 1993. RSB started on September 6, 1994 and I made my first post the next day. I tried to hang on in RSB but the many personalities of he-who-must-not-be-named eventually got me. In the early 90s, nearly everyone still used their real names but then the AOLers arrived.

Boy, now I'm hurt Bob! You and Ron Shepard are both listed twice and you didn't list me! All the time I wasted teaching you the principals of banks and you left me out. Maybe that's why, You still believe you're right about speed of a bank affecting the angle. LOL

Based on searching dejanews it looks like one of my first posts ro rsb was on May 30 1995. Curiously enough it was partially to commend you Bob for appologizing for possibly posting a bit harshly
The thread was titled "Bullies in this newsgroup".

I'm a slow learner -- those darn experiments and facts keep getting in the way:D.

I suspect that you were down the list because you weren't on RSB much in the first year or so. What was your login back then?

I had to check after you posted this. My first post that I could find was August 1999 on ASP. I need to check RSB, but I am pretty sure my first post was on ASP.

Then to Billiards Digest for a few years and then to here.

Okay, I forgot to bring up "CaptainHook". With all of this talk about AZ crushes; CH was the original. His avatar always had one or two scantily clad beauties - it was always implied that one was his wife, the other their girlfriend. A LOT of posters tried to be his friend (sort of like Fatboy or female posters attract attention - if you have fame, money, or beauty you WILL be popular here).

I always wondered how you became so popular.

He who must not be named. LOL

Whatever happened to John Walkup? He sure was a special character. From Oklahoma I believe.

Who was Carla or Carlotta..... was that Carl Pearson?
