Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

BREATHE REPRISE
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white
Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe
And he keeps it, uh, out of sight.

Ya know when that shark bites, with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears old MacHeath, babe
So there’s nevah, nevah a trace of red.

Now on the sidewalk, uh-huh, who, sunny mornin’ … uh-huh
Lies a body just oozin' life--EEEK!
And someone’s sneakin' ‘round the corner
Could that someone be Mack the Knife?

A-there's a tugboat, huh, huh, huh, down by the river don’tcha know
Where a cement bag’s just a'droopin' on down
Oh, that cement is just, it's there for the weight, dear
Five'll get ya ten old Macky’s back in town.

Now, d'ja hear ‘bout
C. Carl McConnell? He disappeared, babe
After drawin' out all his hard-learned bash
And now McConnell sits just like a railbird
Could it be our boy's done somethin' rash?

Now …
Jennie Railbird … ho, ho … yeah … Sukey Tawdry
Ooh …
Messiers Justadub and 'ol Jason Boy
Oh, the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky’s back in town.

Aah … I said
Jennie Railbird … whoa … Sukey Tawdry
Look out to
Messiers Justadub and ol' Jason boy
Yes, that line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky’s back in town …

Look out … old Macky is back!!

Sing it now: Mack the Knife!

Damn! I hadn't realized that this thread had turned into something worth reading. I gotta start paying more attention. Anyway....

In the '60s, before the digital age, there were 45 records, small little black disks that played on record players. There were two sides to the black disk, with a song on each side. Teenagers would go out and buy 45 records because they were cheaper than buying a whole album. Plus, you could buy your favorite song and enjoy it, playing it over and over again.

And before that we had 78s. 78s were better because they went faster. :)

One virtue of 45s was that as a record wore and the tone arm started to skip, you could just stack stack some 45s on top of it to hold it down. Bobby Vinton 45s worked well for this, since nobody but your kid sister wanted to listen to them anyway.

I never thought of that - stacking 45s on top of the tone arm?

You know, I have to give it to the OP! When I first read this thread, I figured he would be banned before the end of the week. Good for you sir, you rise above the drama in your dramatic thread!

It's A Beautiful Day

There's a girl in my room and her face on the wall with no eyes.
There's a girl in my room and her face on the wall with no eyes.
Girl with no eyes,
who can she be?
Girl with no eyes,
she's looking at me.

There's a girl in my room and her face on the wall with no eyes.
If I make a sound she'll know that I'm stirring inside.
If I make a sound she'll know that I'm trying to hide.

Girl with no eyes,
who can she be?
Girl with no eyes,
she's looking at me.
Beautiful girl,
who does she see?
Beautiful girl,
she seems to be staring.

Doesn't eveybody know, everybody know,
love takes a lifetime.
And doesn't everbody know, everbody know,
love is the eye sight,
it's the eye sight of a lifetime.

She's just a reflection of all of the time that's gone by.
She's just a reflection of all of the time I've been high.

Girl with no eyes,
who can she be?
Girl with no eyes,
she's looking at me.
Beautiful girl,
who does she see?
Beautiful girl,
she seems to be staring.

Doesn't eveybody know, everybody know,

Actually, we didn't stack more records on the tone arms.... we would put coins on top of the cartridge. Start with pennies, and continue moving up to heavier denominations as need be... Fastened with scotch tape, of course.

We did this at the radio station I worked at into the 1980's.

I hear Diamond tables has melted down all the old records and are making tables with that stuff !!!

Charliton Heston: Pool tables are records!!!....they're records...!!!

Thank you,

Jeff Livingston

What?
Do you call a game called, call pocket 9-Ball, a BCAPL game? Where are the rules at and I'll play by them, happily!
AND, WHAT ABOUT THE TREATMENT I HAVE RECEIVED FOR MY ATTEMPT TO MAKE EVERYONE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT A BCAPL GAME! But then, how can I expect a person of limited intelligence, to understand the rules that are right in front of them! And your right I don't care!!
C. Carl McConnell

Carl...Sounds to me like they're completely justified in banning you. You're a troublemaker who doesn't want to play by the rules. I'd ban you too. You should take this blather somewhere else, or it might get you banned here too...not that you'd probably care.

If you don't care, then why all the drama here on AZB?

The people who run the league have spoken, and it hasn't gone the way you would like. You should probably move along if you can't play by the rules that the current administration has set forth.

Or as many have said before, start your own league.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.
