TAR 21: Pagulayan vs Van Boening. THE REMATCH !!!

Yes to all questions.

In the past our three day package was $25. It is now $35. A difference of $10. $10 divided by 3 is $3.33. So it costs $3.33 more per day for the three day package than it did before.
I feel this event is worth triple what you're charging!

Thanks again to TAR for bringing the best to the fans!

Shane is en route home from Manila as we speak. Spent time with him here a couple of days ago and we briefly discussed his upcoming match with Alex. Let's just say he was pretty confident, willing to bet some serious cheese of his own. A lot more than 10K will be riding on this one!

I concur with Justin, Thank God for Shane and Alex! One thing I like about hanging over here is that when the good players get together, there's ALWAYS action! The Taiwan gang ain't afraid to bet it up either. Even for over-the-hill, out-of-stroke, down-on-their-luck pool players like me, I can get a game just about anywhere I go. :D

Jay with the inside scoop- thanks for the mental side of the matchup

Thanks for an update on Shane- He's the South Dakota kid,the player of the Decade, and the people's Champion!! Hope your trip is going just great. Cool you are playing some over there- didn't know banks and one-hole was popular in Phi mark

When shane was back home i got to speak with him a little. I am predicting this will go about the same as his and mika's match... maybe even worse!

Just a thought

Actually we all want TAR to succeed. And Justin is right that we all have opinions and you can’t please everyone. I understand that, but if you have children (Thinking TAR is like one of mine in hopes it does well), I will give my opinion so it can have the same effect that it does when I give advice to my kids...

The Shane/Earl match was a gaffed up match. That wasn’t pool, I don’t know what it was, but it wasn’t pool. Play on a standard table, or close to it, as Jay Halfert mentioned earlier.

Please get Grady and/or Billy Incardona in the booth. While I appreciate all the efforts these historic matches need the best we have. Hell, they deserve it. With the subpar commentary we have had in the past, IMO it takes away from the complete package.

I intended this to be honest constructive suggestions. I think Glen, in his defense, is a bull in a china shop, but wants the same...that being the best we can do.

I thank TAR for all they do.

I know you know this, but, it is not that easy to get guys like Grady and Billy to show up or have the time. It would be nice but we will see. I need to find about $1000 so i can have a fun 3 days to watch this match. HMMMMM

my vote

i would love to get buddy hall in the booth with billy. they could tell some great stories. plus i would like to hear buddy's shot selection.

I dont know how else to say it when it comes to the Shane/Earl match. I didn't pick the table. It's not up to me or anyone else but the players and backers. The entire game was about playing in Earl's room, by Earl's rules on Earl's frankenstein 10 footer. If any one of those conditions weren't met then it would of just never happened. I understand what people are saying about wanting things to be a certain way but I really dont think some are understanding just how these matches actually happen.

Commentators take money and even when I have that money you are talking about getting someone to take a week out of their life to do a match. Even if they want to they may not be able. I am trying to get in touch with Billy but so far have had no luck. Hopefully when I do he can work with what I have to offer. If not then we do the best we can.

I appreciate you taking the time to write your suggestions and I agree that we can always do better. I just wanted to explain a little why things are the way they are.

Honestly, for me, I like the banter back and forth of anyone who has good chemistry in the booth. It doesn't have to be a pool aficianado who can correctly predict shape for the next ball while someone is running out. Hell, I've seen so many pool matches live and recorded that I can correctly predict the shots/shape in nearly any rack of rotation pool. I dont need that as much as the next person and that is why I love the Shane/Alex matches at DCC when people were in the booth just hamming it up...that was entertainment!!

TAR does what it does and I for one love what they do (would love to have some new dvds though to select from in the TAR store) and will support them no matter what...I have missed 2 PPV matches since they started and its still the best show in pool...bar none!!

Justin...do what you can regarding commentators but you sir have become one I enjoy having in the booth...enjoy BIG NASTY too except for his darth vaderisk breathing...lol:D:smile:

You mean you don't like the

"he will draw back about a foot here...oh wow I didn't realize he had that much angle...nice shot."

Commentating is a no win situation. No matter who it is someone thinks they suck. Anymore I say right up front "If you want to learn something from this commentary or expect me to know what a world class player is thinking you should hit mute right now."

I hate trying to call matches ball by ball. You always look stupid. The thing is when you call matches for 8 hours you run out of shit to talk about so its either silence or "he will draw back about a foot here...oh wow I didn't realize he had that much angle...nice shot."

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Unless you're Billy in which case shear awesomeness just carries you through.

Ideally you have two commentators with two different predictions as to what shot is going to be played and when one of them is right and one is wrong several times in a row there is Billy right there to make a hilarious comment to twist the knife a bit.

Fred Agnir...Benhke boys..and of course Jay Helfert..is always a blast to hear them comment on the TAR matches. But here's a suggestion from left field..let's get Eric Crisp aka Sugartree cues on the mic for a while. I think he'd be great as a commentator.

Speaking on behalf of the devils advocate.
Without the commentating half the match isn't as entertaining. Although we hate to hear 8 hours of jokes all the time. Some play by play is necessary.

I know dealing with Earl was...well, difficult . And I know, and understand it was out of your hands. Frankly, it makes me sad what Earl has become, a joke. But trust me, these guys want to play on TAR, but I suggest, that YOU suggest to these guys the table setup.

As far as Billy, he is on ONEPOCKET.ORG almost everyday...I am too. Grady seems to be available too.

WE ALL KNOW YOU ARE DOING THE BEST YOU CAN, TAKE OUR SUGGESTIONS LIKE I SAID, SUGGESTIONS LIKE WE GIVE OUR KIDS. WE WANT YOU TO DO WELL.

I will pass this line that my mother says about my father; "ITS NOT THAT HE HAS BAD ADVICE, HE JUST HAS SO MUCH OF IT.....":D

Thanks,

Ken

Good thing I won't be there! 8 hours of how drunk we got the night before and chewing sounds is sure to piss em all off.

but I suggest, that YOU suggest to these guys the table setup.

The players want to play on their favorite set up. They are doing what they think gives them an edge to win. They arnt there to really put on a show so much as they are trying to get that money. So he can suggest all day but he may as well be giving them money management advice. They might hear him but they arnt listening.

I have to agree these guys are in a one on one tourney the action report was set up to bring big action to the masses not make big time players perform for the masses.

Now if tar or any other entity starts sreaming for ppv or free and they post a 10k or 20k or more winner take all bounty or prize then the promoter or masses can set the details and the players can decide to play or not

Let the action happen and let the world watch thanks tar i hope u get a big buy/audience for this awesome matchup
