Looking forward to trying out something new

Tip Review

I stopped by Roberts shop to get a new Kamui Black - Medium put on my cue and instead he lets me try one of his new Black King - Medium tips.

I have played 30 or so racks and so far I LOVE the tip. I have not been able to tell much difference between the Kamaui except the price.

The Black King may be a touch harder but not enough to make a noticeable difference.

The Black King will be my new playing tip... Thanks Robert!!!!

I never ask for freebies as I never want to feel indebted or that I owe someone something. I usually order a smaller amount of a product to try out and if I like it I then purchase larger amounts. I have been building cues for over 20 years and doing repairs for well over 40 years. I stock over 50 brands and hardness's of tips and install between 800 and 1500 tips a year. I sent in an application to buy some of these tips to stock and asked about the wholesale pricing. Apparently they deemed me not worth dealing with as I never have received a reply. Oh well, I get to save my money and not have to purchase and then discount some unknown brand to get people to try them out. I can keep on making great profits on the Kamui's that I presently push with no need to discount.

Hey Dick the guy offered free samples. you know how threads with Free in the title get clicked by everyone. i can't imagine how many people he's been trying to keep up with. maybe you should give him another chance

Hello Dick,

I set you up as a dealer on our website as soon as you registered since you have a website with your cues. I tried to send you email to let you know that you had been approved for dealer pricing but the email to dicky@dickiecues.com gets bounced back as an invalid email address??? I was hoping you would log on to the site and see your pricing was updated but I guess you didn't log in yet. I had you set up as a dealer the same day you first contacted me. Sorry for any confusion.

Robert

Sorry! I must admit that my mail server was down for a couple of hours last week. I guess it was just bad timing. Once again - sorry.

All the dust does settle-

Sounds like very good reviews- Is there freshness dating- LOL- or a identy theft code yet. just because anything great seems to get dupicatied (almost.) but the tips won't be as good! Tip replacement is great for players and installers.Affordable prices, but actually changes how the ball rolls. Hats off to ya I understand how the senior member-cuemakers-get passed up on some of the free stuff. I have sold tips exclusivly to cuemakers for there cues only- glad to see american company- JP has been a leader and expect the prices to go higher for Kamui mark

'Hard" still going good

Still has the feel, sound and zing it started out with...just had to reshape after more than 30 hours of play last night!very slight mushroom but not enough over to have to clean it up yet

Put the Med. on for a young man last week, was informed last night after atleast 15 hours of play he LOVES it and most likely has found his tip of choice as long as they are made

put the soft on yesterday and will relay his opinion in the next week or so

Got my tips in the mail today :)

Will be installing the hard on my personal cue tonight....

Let you know what I think in the next few days

I just thought I would give you guys a 2 month update. After playing 3 nights a week for 2 months the tips top layer needed to be removed due to chalk being overly packed in and it glazing over, once the layer(s) were removed the tip played like it did the first time I hit with it.
If my estimation of tip life is correct it will last 10 months playing 3 nites a week. Not bad for 12.00 .

Here i was thinking they were 18. where'd you get yours?

First of all I want to say thank you Robert for the chance of testing the new tips.

When I got the tips a few weeks ago I directly retipped my cue and put the hard one on, beacause I regularly prefer hard ones! After playing for one week, 2 reshapes and many kicks I wasn't really convinced of the tip and cutted it off. I found that the tip was so bad that I didn't want to test the other tips (m/s) and was really wondering what you guys like about them and write those extremely positive reviews.

On monday this week I thought to give them a chance again and put on the medium on. Suprise, suprise!!! the result was totally different from the hard one! The medium didn't mushroom as much as the hard one , hold chalk well and produces a good action to the cueball.

So summarising all up, I think I only got one bad BK/h, which gave me a bad impression first! But if the overall quality of the tips are like the tested BK/m I think the tips would be a very good choise!!!

Regards / Andreas

I'm still waiting for my guinea pigs to show up for the soft and medium tips.

I put the hard on one of my own shafts.

I used moori hard for around 6 years, recently switched (8 months or so) to kamui black hard.

I had to chop off the black king. It felt really dead to me. It trimmed up nice, like any other quality tip in this price range.
I like the look of the single tan layer, but I won't be using this tip myself.
If the people like the med and soft. I will certainly bring some in for them.

Before cutting the hard off my cue I tried to shape it down low, but it kept de laminating. I had no option but to chop it off.

I also didn't want to be the first negative review.

I'll post up my customers reviews after they do them, that was a condition of getting one :)

Got my order today Robert.
I will be putting one on my player and testing tonight.
I also got my 3 free ones for testing purpose.
I will be using the Med. I know one player who prefers a Soft and another who prefers a Hard so will be tracking them down at Mon BCA and asking them to evaluate.

Thanks,
Terry.

I put a soft on today and went down to the hall to try it out.

Without getting into too much detail, let me start by saying, "Absolutely
Phenomenal".

Does that sound like I am happy with it?

I haven't found a soft tip for some time, lets say never, that plays like this.

The feed back you get from it lets you know that you are using a soft tip.
No guessing here.
It grabs the ball like nothing I have experienced before.

I did a dime shape on it. I was fully expecting to have to do a reshape on it after a few break in games.
I was practicing by myself for a while before I started playing. Close to the end of my session, I started to
pound a few balls in to see what would happen. Nothing. It held its shape perfectly.
I played 10 games on a 7' later on and it still held up.
I won't have to reshape before league Tuesday night.

I was potting balls on a 9' with accuracy. Couldn't ask for any better spin
or cue ball control.

I let a couple of folks try it out and they all agreed. They were most impressed.

I am installing a Hard tip on another players cue and will find someone to evaluate the Medium. The person that is going to try the hard tip is
a very discerning player. He has good equipment and takes care of it.
I consider him to be qualified and will be a fair judge on this one.

If either of those play as well as the soft does, then I suspect that the reviews will be unanimous.

I need to order more as I can feel a possible rush on tips coming soon.

one absolutely hated it
one absolutely loved it
so, there ya go
like anything else, it's all subjective

Review on Black King tips

I rec'd a medium and hard 2 weeks ago ( here in Canada ), I put the medium on my playing cue and the hard one on a guini pig's cue to test out. Both tips went on with no problems, cut real nice, shaped up real nice as well ( Hightower tip shaper ) etc.
It's been 2 weeks now and 4 nites of pool at the hall for me ( plus one hr a day at home ) I am quite impressed with the medium tip as it has held its shape with no mushrooming, excellent draw ( using Kamui chalk by the way ) don;t think I'll be removing this one any time soon.
I spoke with the guini peg on Saturday, he plays every day ( 2 hrs on average ) and is like a teenager in love, can't stop saying nice things about the tip, claims he has no interest to change it up.
I can see carrying some of these in my portfolio of tips

Walter
