I have never been to this event. The event is 8 days long but i could only stay 2 days... In yall opinion what are the best days to go? First weekend or second?

1st weekend is bank pool, second weekend is 9 ball. It depends on what you like better. I play bank and 1 pocket, so don't stay around for the second weekend. tom

First weekend is better, because the event ends on Saturday.

Either way, you'll get enough pool. If my memory serves correctly, the onepocket challenge and straight pool side events were up the last weekend, so you could check those out as well as the 9 ball finals. Like I said, you'll have fun either way.

I've been to every Derby City and I don't think there is a bad time to go down, there is something going on all the time and you never get to see everything, plus you never know when something might go down, it happens so fast, sometimes it is planned but mostly just happens on the go, If you can only make two days, no matter what two it is, it will be two days you wont ever forget.

If you go the first weekend, you will hate leaving. If you go the second weekend, you'll hate that you missed a lot.

There is no winning if you only go for two days...

You right fool.

If I had to pick 2 days only it would be the second Friday and Saturday.

I prefer the first because the gambling money is easier. By the end of the event, only the guys who played over their heads still have money. Some of the winnings have also went to the casino. Will have to agree that the champion match ups are always later.

I sort of agree with Freddie, but depending on what you consider a weekend or 2 days. The first weekend is probably best if you can do a weekend. The tournament ends on a Saturday night and everyone who stays usually wait until Sunday morning to check out of the hotel and travel home. Meaning no matches on Sunday where there were Friday, Saturday and Sunday the previous weekend. Going to the first weekend might make it possible to stretch 3 days and 2 nights of pool action. It's kind of like playing position on the your usable time to play!

I have been for the beginning as well as the last few days, I like the last few days better for numerous reasons. The guys that are casual players (i.e. have jobs) typically come up on weekends and, in my experience, more of those relate to 9 ball. They are the ones I would be looking to match up with doing something.

The last weekend action has, more often then not, given us the best opportunity to see champions battling it out. The tournament is over for all but a very few on Saturday and the ones that have focused on the event can now possible match up. There is no guarantee of a blockbuster match but the chances are more likely. Shane/Alex, Shane/Efren, Shane/Busty.... all happened the last weekend.

It is strictly personal preference but I always go up for the last 4 or 5 days, I get to see the late rounds of the 1P and all of the 9 ball. I get a lot better sweat action on the 9 ball than I do on either of the other events.

Definitely the 2nd weekend if you are going to rubber neck... If you are looking to match up there will be someone who will acquiesce regardless of the weekend.....

Ktown you and DoubleA I assume are going up and will help out on the TAR stuff again? Had not heard if JCIN is doing the TAR room again or simply setting up in the action room......

I don't do much helping in the TAR room, unless you count "helping" to eliminate Makers Mark and provide occasional comedy relief......:D

I am planning on going up for the last few days to hang out and lose whatever I can on the worst bets I can possibly make, basically the same as every other year.

See you there?

Will be there for the entire duration running around like my hair is on fire and my arse is catching.... Will look for you guys towards the end of it all upstairs around the action room... Have a cpl of shots or Crown for a change so I can live vicariously......

two nights

Depends on what games you like played best. Sunday Monday are great for Banks, one pocket, one pocket HOF, Thurs, Friday, for one pocket, nine ball. Action? Take a roll of $100's and you will find plenty every day 24 hours a day. Lots of goodies to buy including some very good ice cream. Go anytime you can and then the next year you can plan your vacation around it.:D
