Mosconi Cup Updates

Any videos on YouTube yet? I have a feeling DP may be getting a piece of the action so I won't pay...... If anyone can confirm they are not. I will gladly pay to see the cup.

Joe, that's what I thought so why wasn't an illegal break called? From the overhead view the 8 ball seemed to stop short of crossing the line and only the 3 went over in addition to the one going down. It was a pretty soft break so maybe I'm wrong but I don't think a ball went across then came back out - but I guess this must have been what happened because Michaela certainly would have called it and if not her then Ralf surely would have.

Only has to touch the line to count, as far as I have understood the rules.

Cumulative game score (not that it matters:D):

He is a strong player, I still am not sure he is quite at Mika's or Thorsten's level yet, but lets be serious Mika and Thorsten are both monsters and VERY proven multi-time champions of world class events. My original postings were that Nick VDB was probably stepping in it a little calling anyone on the USA team a weak link, and if anything Chris has made it more clear that Nick is probably "that guy". The best team that Europe could field today given what I have seen is Ralph, Mika, Thorsten, Darren, and Chris. The 4 guys Chris is joining in that group are all proven world champions and are IMO 4 of the best players on the planet and give up nothing to anyone in the world.

Chris has been SOLID. I would even go so far as to say he's playing the best out of both teams. I'm not sure how well the cameras are capturing it, but Chris carries himself very confidently around the table, even when he's significantly behind in the set. In the SVB match he was down 3-0 at one point, but just kept coming and coming. Unlike a lot of the other players that seem a little out of sorts due to the pressure, Chris seems unaffected.

@celtic: this would be my dream team too! this crap rule with points sucks.

what i think of yesterday:

GREAT POOL
the "newbs" rock! Dechaine and Melling play so solid!
Ralph and johnny are not invincible ;)
putnam and morris as a team are funny, id like to go for a drink with them
appleton and van boening still not at their best

well lets see what day 3 has got for us, im looking forward to a great night

small edit:
first matches today:

Putnam/Dechaine VS Appleton/Feijen
Putnam VS Appleton

The double is gonna be great and regarding how the "favorites" have played till now in singles the single match might be very interesting too

Anyone else notice the difference between the fans in the US being respectful to both teams while at the table. Unlike the euro trash last year in york hall sharking, moving, dropping things and getting warned every other shot.

I find the atmosphere in York Hall better than Vegas, but it is improving in Vegas too.

Sport (supporting) culture is just different in Europe and USA.

that team would probably be the strongest team, as they are all proven champions, with chris a future monster champion.. nick and neils are both great players on there day, but not as consistent as the rest. There are few other players, who are close to being in the mosconi, but with Ralph, darren, Mika, Thorsten, they have to become as consistent as them, to stay at the top.

Daz is former boxer :D

Ah, but he would be out of his weight class....
..and Rodney knows some of that UFC stuff

regards
pt..<..who wonders if he watched the Mosconi on his cell phone....
..would there be a long distance charge for table length shots?

I think the U.S. has to win at least 3 of the 5 matches today to have a reasonable shot overall. The first couple of matches today will be very big.
