Wanted/For Sale Section to Change in New Year

I also want to add azb makes their money from the traffic and amount of hits they get. it's all about being seen. That's where azb makes their money. Now that the site is huge they no longer need the WFS section to push the site. It has been going down the tubes and will continue esp with these new rules.

Also with all the new smartphones ect using tapatalk I have never seen a banner once. So buying advertising on this site would be worthless.

a suggestion

I'm not much of a seller ,more of a buyer then I change my mind and buy something else and sell off what's left over .It may have already been suggested but is it possible to make people pay a fee per year based on how much they sell. 5 cues or less $25.00 6-10 $65 11-20 $100 and so on. I really hope this all works out cause to be honest my favorite part of AZb has been the for sale section and cue gallery .Also I plan on renewing my "club membership" to support AZb .

Something good will come from all this.....

here's how I see the situation. If we're unhappy witht he way AZ operates the Forum, or don't care for the changes being enacted, we can leave and not participate. Life goes on and Oh Blah Dee Oh Blah Daa for all concerned.

However, there's been so much disagreement and criticism of how this is being introduced and the reasons why, several individulas are developing their own websites. That's great because there's more to choose from....competiton is good becuase it inspires change and improvement. But even the critics of the pending change have had to notice the garbage listings starting to infiltrate the wanted to buy/sell listings.

I don;t want to continue reading about some person that has a used washer/dryer and wants to trade it for a cue but the poster hasn;t a clue what type of cue they want or even an inkling how much the washer/fryer is worth...if if it isn't an appliance, then there's guns & watches, & furniture....the other day some person posted a listing tyring to sell darts....not one mention of pool merchandise...just some darts he found in the back of his store....how does that relate to pool or billirads.

Let's allow the Forum owners/operators to do their own thing and since necessity is so often been called the mother of invention, those who disagree can start their own website as others are currently doing. Meanwhile, let's get the Forum cleaned up and operating correectly. I am confident the Forum will be better off from these changes.

Options are great. The problem is when we start splitting up the for sale section onto three four or five sites we loose coverage.
Meaning that people dont want to go to multiple sites and register again to see cues for sale that were once on one site, two sites is bad enough.
This was all discussed when they deleted the raffle section. Most people agreed that one site for the raffles was good enough.
As you can see, the raffles now are hanging on by a thread even on one site.

I wonder how many new forums will be made in the next few weeks, to try and capitalize on this? Obviously some people will do it to try and make a buck.
Lee already has one established. The move there to view cues is painless. He has been with the community for a while and has many believers here. Throwing a free site together is pointless at this time. Let's see how this pans out. Atleast use the time to develop a decent site. I already see spelling errors on one of these thrown together sites. We have until Jan to see what happens, use the time and the community will decide.

Sorry to see this happen but if someone out there is being a jerk and giving Mike and Jerry a hard time and dragging them into legal battles then that stinks. Anyone can take someone to court, it can be totally idiotic and if they have money to burn then they can burn some of yours too, you cannot just blow that off. I hope the matters get resolved or maybe someone who is a lawyer can step up and help us all out. Mike and Jerry are 2 of the best people I know in the industry and would not be doing this unless their backs were to the wall on this and I know the place is popular but they are not getting rich either so they need the advertisers to make things work.

I was hoping the changes I heard were going to happen were sub forums with price search to make it easier for buyers to purchase and seller to sell without clutter. Make it so you have to be a Club Member to sell anything on here and if you want to buy it cost you nothing. I can understand how cue dealers can conflict with new items that Seyberts might offer or some of the other advertisers on production cues but do not see how that is on custom cues that others cannot get. I liked seeing new cue makers and there offerings along with new products that pop up here from time to time.

I personally have sold a good number of DVDs through AZ Billiards but mainly through my newsletter and site where all DVDs are available. I try to give back by doing my free streams a couple times a month and free giveaways quite regularly or donating products sales to help out someone like Shane Palmer who was in need. I saw many people on this forum step up for him, especially in the Wanted/For Sale section and that was great to see, made me feel really good during the holiday season, thanks to all of those who helped out. It has been fun.

I think its a great idea!

But in fairness to cue-makers seems like they should start a section for Cue- Makers only (not retail store type sellers and re sellers) to sell their goods. I for one like being able to deal with such a great pool of talented cue makers in one place.

Possibly another section that the re sellers could pay to advertise in to have their wares seen? Not so much doing away with anyone or anything as just re configuring whats going on. I would have to say it is hard when you want to sell something and your items on the 4th page in a matter of a few hours because of the endless bumps from re sellers. Anyway hope it works out well for us all.
This is a GREAT idea...I have met a few Cuemakers on here and have ahd them make me cues...I would hate for them to not be able to participate in this site to advertise their new cues.

So the new Wanted/For Sale is limited to used cues, thats not the end of the world.....at least not for some, I dont think I have ever sold a new cue here or anywhere else. I still have not seen mention that the new Wanted/For Sale section will be for used cues only, meaning no other pool related items such as cases, balls, videos...etc, I might have missed it in all the clutter. After the first of the year when this section becomes just the For Sale forum there is no one saying things cant be traded, right, if its done in private? For example, I have a used cue for sale and someone contacts me via pm and says they have a case or cue they would like to trade, new or not as long as its not public there is no issue.

As most people have stated, most all other internet forums split their classifieds up into a For Sale section and a Wanted section. I am only a member on a couple but to my knowledge there has never been a problem, and the ones I am a member of are the equivalent to AZbilliards in the pool world.

If people knew exactly what the problem is then maybe it could be fixed before its to late. If its money then why not charge a membership fee and make the Wanted/For Sale section private. I have no legal knowledge of that so maybe it wouldnt work, just a thought. I gurantee there are at least a hundred people on here who would pay an annual $50 fee to use the Wanted/For Sale section, I would.....there's $5K towards your thousands of dollars in legal fees. Charging a % is also an idea but not a good one imo.

Do sellers who will not be able to sell their items here anymore, care about their itrader reputation?

My main concern was splitting it up into multiple sites.

I can't see how that will be good for the billiards community.

Just me I guess

Really hate to double dip BUT

Would it not be advantageous for AZb to start a NICER for sale section and
just charge a simple listing fee like Ebay that way everyone wins .Really hate to see this site lose support when everyone could benefit.

What we do not know is what will it take to satisfy those who see fit to force litigation as they have paid for advertising on AZ Billiards.
The prices with fees for some new items of certain individuals may be still under the prices of those who sponsor this site.

Change is never easy...

That little phrase I used in my post title is used often, but is always true. However, along with change comes adaptation.

The forums appear to be changing primarily to protect the legal and financial interests of AZB. That's perfectly understandable. We will not know the "actual" impact of the changes until they occur. We can all make some "educated" and "not-so-educated" assumptions, but until the changes happen, we simply can not be sure of how things will pan out.

I'm not saying all of us will like the outcomes, but we will adapt and things will keep changing. If AZB were to go away tomorrow, something else would come by to replace them. Those replacements won't be perfect, but they will sort themselves out in time.

If I have to go elsewhere to see what I enjoy most about the W/FS section (cue makers and the "real" cue dealers), I will. I won't like it, but I will find a way to keep a pulse on that community. Hopefully AZB can find a way to keep them here!

I have learned a lot from this community. This great site (not just the W/FS section), and most importantly the members of this site, helps fuel my interest in pool and desire to be a better player (with even better equipment). I've only recently started to purchase items from sellers and have had nothing but positive experiences. My items of choice weren't "used", but they aren't mainstream either. I'm not sure how I would have come across them without this site?

I'm going to wait and see how these changes will work out.

I will be waiting for the announcement to see who are excluded and included in the revision.

In my opinion, first and foremost, I believe you will be doing a serious disservice if it should be decided to exclude cue makers from selling their wares.

Many of the cue makers contribute heavily to the two cue maker forums.
Machinery and Ask the Cue Maker. If they should suddenly disappear, you can pretty much kiss those two forums goodbye.

How many AZ members would seek out other billiard forums if this happens?
LOTS!

Secondly. There are guys, I will use Kevin Brewer as an example. I don't think Kevin uses the forum to make a serious living. He sells used cues mostly for the fun of it, the love of cues being his prime motivator.
I love looking at the cues he sells.

Take the others that have web sites. Cornerstone for example. Again, I love looking at the cues he has up. I may never be able to afford most of the cues some of the more serious sellers have but again, Myself and many members included, love looking at them.

Its like when you were a kid and thumbing thru the Christmas Wish Book.

The above mentioned are providing a valuable service by making these hard to come by cues available to the public.

I don't know what the solution might be so will have to wait and see.
Maybe several sub forums so each seller might have their own category in which to sell.

All I do know is that you could destroy the For Sale forum in one fell swoop if it isn't taken care of properly.

Lets take a wait and see approach. We haven't found out what the end result will be yet. Maybe the Mod wants to see our reaction to this and will sort it out accordingly.

And I mean by wait and see approach to not mean sit by and be complacent. Keep on posting your opinions. That way, the owners
will see that the Sale forum is a very important part of the AZ community. Just to mean, don't get too worked up over the impending decisions, for I doubt that the owners will want to destroy a large part of the site.
