Video of Corey Deuel running 229 in Straight Pool

Those pockets were HUGE! He couldn't have done that on a diamond, no way. He is still a great player nevertheless.

He just made them look big. They are 4.5" or less, bet on it.

I'd be more than happy to bet 95% of the people on this forum can't run 100 on table with 5" pockets.

Look's like 5" pockets
I thank a Diamond table has 4.5 pockets.
But that is a nice run.

lol - I couldn't run 200+ balls on 8" pockets....

I wonder how many commenting on these pockets looking HUGE have never flat out dogged a ball on a barbox with BUCKETS....hell, I've done it with BIH!!! :p

Where in California is he playing?

Simi Valley at the home of Bill Maropulos.

I think a Diamond table has 4.5 pockets.

Listen from 10:00 and on. It's FASCINATING to hear the Golf Channel guys talk about the Ryder Cup. Sound familiar??!????

What's Corey doing in California?

Thought he lived in Florida. Does he have family out here he is visiting for the holidays?

Anyhow, does he plan on heading to the House of Billiards in Santa Monica to play some one pocket against Richard or Wayne? I'd like to see that

Awesome run Corey.

I've been out of the billiard loop for a decade but remember watching Corey when he was younger back in the 90's.

I was always amazed at the level of play he held with his head height being higher than normal for someone of that caliber. Not taking anything away from his game at all, just an observation.
Smooth player with eagle eyes.
Great to see him back on step with the near flat top hair doo just like the last time I saw him on TV, fit as a fiddle too as always.

During most of the run, when he is not in trouble, he has a very nice smooth rhythm in straight pool that reminds me of Thomas Engert.

He is experimenting a bit in this run and trying to manufacture behind the rack breaks whenever he can. He says he does not like the way the traditional side of the rack breaks send so many balls down to the bottom rail.

I noticed in some old videos, Hopkins was bumping side of the rack break shots down so he could create bottom of the rack break shots. I also remember hearing that sometimes when they were not breaking well, Sigel would play for bottom of the rack break shots.

Interesting.

He has a sick breakout shot where he runs I believe it was the 1 ball all the way down the rail and comes back into the stack. Very nice run indeed.

Indeeed. I noted that he was attacking from the bottom as well.

I prefer to crack the back of the rack too, though I am a complete 14.1 hack:o

Bill's table is NOT 5" at the corner pockets. More like 4.5". Secondly, even if they were 5.5", no one in this thread would run 229.

Did Corey get fortunate on a few shots? Of course. You gotta get fortunate some times when running 200+ balls. It's that "lucky roll here" and that "lucky roll there" that get you the bigger and bigger runs.

Dave

I knew that he was a fan of the bottom rack break shot when he passed up the 2easy shots on the bottom rail for a long barely there shot uptown.

Why did Corey skip the last Turning Stone tournament?

What are his plans pool wise for the upcoming year? Is he going to be fully committed?

He's looking for sponsorship. He can't be fully committed on his own dime.

That sucks that he lost his sponsorship. I don't blame him for not playing. It is too expensive- certainly not worth it.

He is one of the best players in the US and certainly deserves a good sponsor.
