You'd think an elite level player/pro would be able to adjust to the table conditions, regardless of what they are.

Does an excellent player/pro ever say I straight up lost when they lose? It seems that everytime I hear an interview, or a really good player comes on here, they always blame the table or some sort of playing condition.

That's ego talking. Many players can not take the hit to their ego when they get beat straight up, so they always come up with some reason why they lost, not that they shot bad, or their opponent shot better.

I have a local friend like that. He can never, and I mean never, ever admit that he just got outplayed, there is always some other reason, table, opponent pissed him off, etc... as to why he lost.

Just came back from reno, fantastic setup and hotel. But, have to agree on the rails, until you actually play on them you shouldn't say domineering is making excuses. It turns your game upside down when you hit a ball and the cue ball comes off the rail with more speed than it went in. And yes, everyone was talking about it.

I have to make a few comments.

Reno is fairly dry. A few weeks ago back in Vegas I played a couple of games. Had not played in awhile. I could NOT hardly keep the cue ball within 4' of my goal.

Got to Reno and was playing in the 10-ball. My short practice session was all about shooting soft and getting proper angle. Speed is KING on a bar box.

Bottom line is the tables will play fast because they are built out of higher product materials and construction. The affect of a smaller surface amplifies a speed error. The problem creates problems bigger than expected - but the length issue become less important.

It is a different size table and a player must adjust to it. It becomes more of a finesse game.

I notice the really good players would shorten up the bridge and all movement. The cue often became slightly elevated and the stroke altered to more of a punch (or poke).

Everyone is on the same table.

Just my thoughts.

Mark you do a great job and work hard for pool, to hard at times, and i hope your feeling better.

The tables are for finesse, but at times its impossible to play certain shots. Im not sure if the room made the difference but they play way to bouncy this time. simonis 860 also doesnt help as its so quick anyway. i didnt shoot bad the table beat me :(

Fair enough mark, yes most adjusted very well. Personally, I only have a power game on the box and struggled all week. I miss being able to beat the valley bbox into submission.

As I said previously, great tourney, and great hotel. I'll be back next year.

i seen that match on stream against busty.... he laid the boots to ya! your not at that level where you can challenge the bigger names at pool, but you know this already :)
