Last I heard, Danny was working. That was about a year ago, though, and it was secondhand information, albeit from someone who knows him personally.
Like everyone else here, I would love to see them play. That said, and assuming Danny is working, I could understand why he would turn down the offer... aside from the bad blood and stuff, I mean. I'm sure that he would want to get himself in dead punch before a match like this - who wouldn't. If he figures that would require taking a month or more off of work (after which, is the job even available anymore?) and relocating (not sure exactly why, but that's none of my business), then it's simple math to see that a potential minimum payday of only $1k just wouldn't cut it.
And yes, I fully understand why a $3500 (or whatever he asked for) appearance fee is out of the question. The fact that there is ANY guaranteed money in the deal is just evidence of TAR going above and beyond to try to make this epic match happen. With that said, however, we would essentially be asking Danny to come out of retirement (again, assuming he is working and not playing any pool) - to take the necessary time to get his game up to world class level again - and to put his job, family, and everything else on hold long enough to do it.
I'm not suggesting that the above is Danny's thought process, but if I had basically hung up my cues and decided to do something different, it would be my thought process, and I wouldn't come out of retirement for this match.
Now, on the other hand, if I had a backer and I knew we could get another $20k-$30k down in the middle or from the rail, I'd go for my flipping coin so fast I'd get carpet burn from my pants pocket.

all of your points would hold more merit if Danny hadnt been calling John out on other threads & pm's never once mentioning time to prepare or relocating...This is just Danny making enough of a fuss that nobody calls his bluff cuz it aint worth it to them with all his ridiculous request.
