TAR 25 Podcast Tonight at 9 PM Eastern. Any Questions for Dechaine or Hatch?

Question:

It seems pool is becomming more and more of an international sport for the elite professionals in the sport. Players like Souquet, Appleton, Orcullo, Corteza, Hohmann, Melling, and others play a circuit of international events much like tennis professionals or golfers, seeking out the top paying events in the world and making sure to play in each one.

Why is it that for the USA only SVB seems to have the means, or the will to compete on that international circuit?

What do you think is needed in the USA to allow your country to have a contingent of touring professionals who compete in the international events and how could it be funded?

For Mike and Dennis: What would you consider to be the single-most underlying factor that separates you from the pack of other professional players around the world?

Does 8-ball have potential as the professional billiards game "IF" played on one of the new 10-foot Diamond tables and the same size of pockets as the TAR table?

How hard do you feel 8-ball would be played on a table like that?

Ask Hatch does he like 9-ball or 10-ball better and with the break reduced on a tight table how does he think his safety play will get him the win?

For Dechaine ask him what's he going to do different to win this match since he will probably not be able to be as aggressive as normal on a table that tight?

They are both big breakers and super ball runners, gonna be interesting to sweat them having to play more conservative pool.

For both:

Do you think that pocket billiards deserves to be accepted as an olympic sport? If so, do you think it will ever happen?

can't even be considered until 2022...

Justin, can you ask what they think of the new bonus ball arena? will they be playing in the league? and if they plan on moving to Vegas... Thanks

I'm interested in the olmpics question also. I think if we bring it up often enough, it'll help bring it to players attentions.

On a sidenote: Why does one think he has an edge over the other and how their track record shows it.

I don't understand everybody's fascination with getting pool in the olympics. If you can be a smoker, a drinker, a drug addict or a fat ass, and still play great, it shouldn't be an olympic sport.

It only comes around every 4 years, and we would probably get our livers shot out and handed to us anyway.

Dennis....Why don't you play a full schedule of pool events...specifically..why did you miss the US Open in the past?

Weapons of Choice

I would like to hear both of them talk about their cues a little bit. What cuemakers are they using, have they tried low deflection shafts and if so what are their thoughts on them? Some details about ferrules, tips and tip diameters. Stuff like that. Basically, a general discussion about their preferences for playing equipment and why. It would give them a chance to plug their cuemakers too. Thanks in advance.

Lol. We would up the ante and bring out some champs to play. We have #1 here remember? #2 and 3 is probably wrestling gators or selling cars waiting for an oppurtunity worth destroying their life over.

I don't remember a fatass playing really great anyways. Most guys now days are in great shape. They have to be and they are in better condition than some atheletes of other sports.

You don't remember any fatasses that played great pool?
Mizerak?
Buddy Hall?
Tony Ellin?
Shannon Daulton aint skinny.
I wouldn't call Dechaine a fat ass, but he doesnt look like a triathlete either.
I realize that most of these names are from yesteryear, but how many of today's skinny players smoke cigarettes or weed, or meth?
How many drink?

It's not an olympic sport. That's my point.

The APA is great for beginners, the BCA is great for intermediate/advanced players ... do you think that there's room for a pro-level league?

(I know, most people cringe at the thought of 'league'. But, there's MBL, NFL, NHL, NBA.. all league play.)

What do you think about while sitting in the chair during a match when you get behind early or when you miss a shot?

In bowling its common for the pros to not watch their opponent at all. Considering most your matches have a ref, do you watch your opponent while they are shooting?
