Who makes the best cue?

Cue??

I WOULD SAY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A TASCARELLA OR A MOTTEY AND YOUR SEARCH WILL SOON BE OVER.........

I also like a 3mm tip. I find that the lower end mass of the shaft cuts the deflection WAY down.

OK....but that's just for me...... ;):D

Ernie Martinez cues are my favorite. Pete Tascarella cues are also my favorite. Joss cues are my favorite production cues, especially the gold letter ones. Non-living cue makers, George Balabushka is my favorite. Also, Szamboti's are pretty sporty.

Asking who makes the best cue, is like asking who makes the best bar-b-que.

Can't go wrong with a Timmy Scruggs. Played with em for years and still the best hitting cues I've used. Some hit better than others but they all hit good. Look for an older one if possible, one over 15 years old. I think you'll be happy. If you truly need a 3mm (?) shaft then you are not looking for a pool cue, you want a snooker shaft. I have no idea about those ;)

Who makes the best cue IYO? I need a new one and play a lot of one pocket with a 3 mm shaft.

I like the following cue makers cues and currently have at least one of their cues in my collection.

1: Mike Bender
2: Jim Buss
3: Greg Pierce from Missoula MT (no longer makes cues)
4: Ray Schuler (deceased)
5: Richard Black

I have other cues in my collection but wouldn't recommend them for various reasons. You may benefit from attending a cue show like SBE and try out several cues before you buy.

Bar-b-que is definitely another subjective but fun topic for sure! Awesome...It's lunch time! Thanks for the idea..haven't had that in a while!

Back to cues before I head to Ed's BBQ in Matawan!

Ernie Martinez is also my favorite from his showcase days to now and he keeps making cues that have that amazing soft but solid hit. I have a few other favorite cue makers that I want to mention that have made cues that I thought were supremely well made and hit sweetly.

Listed alphabetically below are makers I highly recommend and have experience with their wares. You get a lot of great cue for your money from each of these guys.

Custom Cue Makers

Rick Geschrey of Esoteric Cues- I recently got to briefly hit with one. It felt very much like the soft but solid hit I so love in Martinez cues with a similar forward balance and striking sound.

Lee Peppers of LP Custom cues- Great solid feeling old school hit, naturally weighted with new school balance and effortless ball movement but somehow in using great toned woods it does it all with a fairly quiet almost stealthy striking sound. Take the bumper out and these cues have that very desirable and often looked for ping. Quality cues through and through. I shot with one of Lee's cues to do a head to head comparison with a full spliced cue and found them to feel surprisingly similar.

Leon Sly of SLY Custom Cues-
Leon sure knows how to make a cue hit like you request(don't underestimate the importance of this as that's an art in itself), in my case that would be a similar feel to my Martinez and the cue designs just keep getting better. Exceptional hit and finish made to your request.

Chuck Starkey of Starkey Custom Cues-
Specifically speaking about his wood pin, wrap-less and ferrule-less cues as that's the build type I've experienced. They are accurate shooters, very well built players with a great sound and feel very close to a one piece cue. The feel reminds me a lot of the old full splice dufferin cues with the circular maple leaf inlay but this cue has them beat with very comfortable tapers across the whole cue, low deflection with a great normal shaft feel and a forward balance.

Tascarella Cues- What can you say....Sweet sweet sweet stuff and worth the price. This man knows how to make a cue that George Balabushka would be proud of.

As for a Quasi-production best hitter as I don't feel they are really production like Meucci or McDermott: IMHO, Schon has and still leads the pack.

For production: I like McDermott, Mezz and some of the Lucasi cues.

Have a good one!

Ginacue, without a doubt.

Wait, its TAD

whoops, I mean Barry Szam for sure

yikes, Dennis Searing, his cues are easily the best

OMG, Black Boar, totally.

OK, now that that's settled, what's the best girl?

Thanks

Kevin

Forget that best girl thing, i realize that maybe not everyone will completely agree. Lets do an easy one:
