the amateur event had 6 divisions with similar payouts, each more than the pros...
Nothing wrong with pic! Don't worry about Shane. He cashes many checks like this all year long. And bigger. The league player will most likely only cash that type of check a few times in his life. League pool floats the boat in the pool playing world. Love it or hate it, league pool is a big factor in the industry. Next would be the not so serious, non league player who purchases a table and all the fixins for his home. I imagine more equipment is purchased by the average not serious player than by pros and amateur league players. As far as the industry not supporting pro players issue, well that's too bad. Wish it were better but until we are all under the same umbrella, nothing will change. The world owes no one a living!!
I don't have a problem with the amateur payouts... My point was the pro payout for the US Open win
Just sad, that's all

The amateur doesn't have a sponsor. I think most pros do. I could be wrong.
That is funnyI would guess that there are many sports that pay out better than Pro pool.
Table Tennis
Bolwling
Lawn Darts
Rock Paper Scissors
Etc......
This approach will not benefit the game, it's like telling the young players "you are a fool if you get better". Why would anyone practice and leave money to the industry if he wins more in non-pro leagues?..
