This guy had the nerve to fix my bridge hand, now I am playing at least a ball better and enjoying the game more than ever! During the Bonus Ball filming Hunter spent about 5 minutes with me, yes just 5 minutes and my bridge hand was fixed. As those who know me or have seen me play can attest that my open hand bridge is unusual (ugly) and I never learned or used the closed hand bridge.

I have been offered lessons or whatever from people as I am sure many of you have but if they cant draw the rock then I find a hard time listening to someone who plays at a low level regardless if they can teach or not, not sure what that is all about. I find instruction from someone who is a good player, can show what they are teaching is very important as you watch their execution of the shot and respect their ability level also. I also know many good players out there cannot teach at all or explain how to do things so finding a good player who is a good teacher is not easy. Hunter can do both and is a cool guy also.

I still shoot with the same open hand bridge but have been playing much more with the closed hand bridge (roughly 7 out of 10 shots) and it helps a ton on certain shots, much more accurate and controlled. If you have the pleasure of meeting Hunter then get a lesson from him. Not sure where he is at now or his rates but the guy knows how to teach mechanics and fundamentals of the game. Thanks Hunter for taking a few minutes to help a banger out so I can enjoy the game more.

P.S. Sorry if you thought this was going to be a negative thread, but it did get your attention, haha. :grin-square:

Good Move

Good move on the subject line...definitely got my attention. Who said pool players aren't smart!!!

Lenny, you sucked me in. :grin-square:

Glad you found some help, but this means...

YOU GOTTA GIVE EVERYBODY WEIGHT!

Lenny,

great that someone helped you on this important *issue*. The factor *bridgehand* is very underestimated. You have to search a long long long time before you ll find a post in a forum about the bridgehand.
To have a stable and perfect positioned bridgehand helps a ton! A wrong positioned and placed bridgehand can ruin the complete stroke!

keep shooting Lenny and have a smooth stroke :-) (and of course a stable bridge, LOL)

lg from overseas,
Ingo

So would you care to explain, or anyone else for that matter how your closed bridge works or looks like maybe. I find myself sometimes feeling tension in my entire arm when securing a tight grip around the shaft when using a closed bridge.

Hunter has been undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts over the last few years. I have been noticing his continual rise to the top of our sport and now just recently, playing in the World 9 Ball Championship.

Along the way he has been taking scalps, without so much as a single boast. I like that about him.

Glad to see him giving lessons. I doubt that he is back already but if he is in Atlanta this weekend, I will be looking for some pool cues.

Lenny, with that thread title you are becoming a real marketeer. Just remember to throw in some bold blue fonts for good measure.

Yeah you got me too !!
Hunter is a true permanent student of the game. No matter how good he gets he will continue to work at getting better. And will go anywhere to do it. One of only 2 U.S. players at the 2012 Doha. Came one game short of beating Ronnie Alcano in a tough back and forth match. Hunter has come a long way.
Anyone lucky enough to get lessons ( free ) like you Lenny...take em..and if you have to pay..then spend a couple bucks

Is that you, dude? I can't work out how the CB ended up where it did after cutting the red in the middle with the rest.

And is that Cheryl Cole? I prefer the other one. Less Geordie, more classy.

My bridge hand is one of my weaknesses. I tend to move it to the side once I have it placed. It's hard not to do it! :o

Hunter is truly a nice guy, sincere and friendly at all times. He's worked HARD to get his game up to the level he's at now - World Class! I hope to see him continue his rise in professional pool.

....I am playing at least a ball better...

Lenny, I believe this now puts us at 9-6 from the last full ball improvement you had a month ago that put us at 9-7! I will come to your streaming table in Phoenix and play you there. Let me know when and how much money to bring. I will supply my own almonds.

The death of the unilateral thumb....

The thumb walks through the valley of evil...it fears no dead....because it's the biggest mfing thumb in the valley.

it's not me! I'm handsomer lol.
The guy thinks he can play but looks like his high break is probably around 8.

Yes she is CC.
I agree Keya is better but I like to change :)

This guy had the nerve to fix my bridge hand....

I spent a few hours with Hunter myself about two weeks ago. Never been more confident in my fundamentals (or lack of in his words :o). Now when something is out of line, I can find it, fix it and be on my way in minutes, not days like a traditional slump. And that is exactly what he said he wanted to teach me, just to be aware of my stroke... I lost a match against a guy I play pretty even with yesterday. Missed two "easy" shot and took a few minutes. Found the issue and beat him 3-0 and 3-1 in the next two sets, with me going 8 and out half the games. I would have never been able to find why I was off that quickly before Hunter's lesson.

+1 for Hunter's lessons.

Lenny,

You a funny man. Congrats on your new bridge. How about a video of you playing w/your new bridge for the rest of us?

Dave
