Nick, I appreciate you taking the time to make some points about what you saw. I do not think the rules on the site are the final ones but outdated and they should be removed from the site until the final ones are put up which I imagine will be soon according to the season starting in less than a month.
The rules are actually really simple, teams have 2 corners and the opposite side pocket to score in. You shoot balls in sequence, purple is 1 point, orange is 2 and the black bonus ball is 3. The first person to get to 30 points wins the game, other than that there are some simple small rules you will pick up as you watch but if you know these basics then you can enjoy watching the game.
The pocket coverings will be color coordinated so you can see better who has what pocket also, we made due at the moment using the stars but the covers will be painted and it will be mentioned which team has what pockets. If you are actually watching the match and listening to the commentary it is easy to figure out who has what pockets and what is going on, the only thing confusing is its new. It would be like showing someone snooker for the first time and them figuring out the sequence and ball point values.
I was one of the cameraman working on it and we framed it obviously without knowing what graphics would be where. Perhaps a solution would be to only show the graphics on the full table stationary shot and jib shot or frame lower when shooting keeping the graphics in mind, good point made. I did not notice it too much and you were the first to speak on it in this thread, everyone else loved the video quality and production. I am sure this will be kept in mind, I think the constructive criticism is good and we also understand we cannot please everyone but what makes sense will be done.
Personally I do not think any other pool production has been of better quality besides Matchroom when it comes to the angles, camera work, editing and setup. This is not even the high quality version you are watching, it is a low res version using older equipment. I think when people see what we are doing during the season they will be very impressed especially those who are impressed by this. I would not compare the stuff we shot to any live streams out there at all, especially the single camera stuff shot in poolrooms, haha.
Thanks Lenny. I just finished reading the whole thread, and your post, along with others from the people involved, did address many of my comments.
ps, since you have the inside scoop, you will have to lay 3:1 odds on all action room wagers...
