One Pocket capital on the USA???

Well, it's certainly not in my city, although I wish it were. I'm going with Phoenix, on this one.

:bow-down: chicago.

fyi: chicago is the billiard capital of the universe !

although, i might be slightly biased. not sure.

Phoenix is a good place, they are having a tourney this weekend at Bullshooters. Chicago really?? I thought that was more 14.1 but hey thats why I ask the question. Thanks for your input.

Wow, I have been to Chicago a number of times and never got an overwhelming feeling that 1 Pckt was a popular game there. I am not saying I disagree with you guys, just saying I totally must have missed it.

Hey bfdlad,
I think Atlanta, Georgia is hot on One Pocket also.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I'm going with Arizona ... not sure I can peg a city, but AZ has some of the toughest ongoing tournaments I've seen (going off ustream events, that is). Wasn't Grady in AZ? I know Scott Frost is there; plus a ton of A+ players in the monthly tournaments.

Southern Indiana every January.

It does have a 'decent' following here, but if they can't fill the big money tournament at Bullshooters this weekend that would probably end any doubt that this is surely NOT the USA capitol of one pocket. I think a lot of On the Rail netcasting makes it seem more popular here than it is, and due to that and Lenny's hard work with live streaming events it has a foothold here.

Not sure about Chicago, but CA seems to have a good following for the game. JMO..... I've played it one time seriously (but badly).

58 players at the Hard Times Markulis Memorial one pocket that started today and finishes tomorrow. Efren, Busty, Alcano and Sambujon are here along with Oscar & Ernesto Dominguez.

Nine ball starts Saturday.

I think there are a few states in the south like Alabama and Louisiana where its very popular. Out here in the west I would say Phoenix and of course all over California which seems to have a strong one pocket crowd. I know my streaming and the presence of Scott Frost has shown the strong one pocket players of Phoenix.

There are around a dozen shortstop speed or better one pocket players here, our own Bernie Pettipiece who is relatively unknown outside of Phoenix took 7th at this past DCC in the one pocket. I think the one pocket starting today in Phoenix is a great event, all the money from the entries stays in the pot with nothing taken out and $4,000 added.

I think it being held at the same time as the Chuck Markulis tournament is not good but what is done is done. I think an extra 10-15 players from California would have showed up for it if it were next weekend so instead of a full field I am thinking it will be around 30 give or take. The payouts will be very good though for the small field and some notables are Scott Frost, Gus Briseno and I heard Jose Parica will be playing also. I hope next year if the event is held again that communication is open between the two events so players can enjoy both.

Some of the Hard Times, Bellflower players are missing here, so maybe they will show up there. Rich Grenier and Wayne are missing up here, and hopefully will make your tournament along with any others that we did not get.

I am in the $$ here and play Santos this morning in the final eight on the winners side. All the monsters are still in and and every match from now on will be a tough one.

We are only racing to two, so if you win the lag for the break and lay down a good one, the chance for an upset increases.

Good luck in the tournament, wish I could be there.

Bring a trophy home for AZB.... (what was I thinking?)

OK, nevermind, just get the cash!

Shoot well! Congratulations.

Who won the One Pocket event at Hardtimes?

Nice shooting John, top 8 in One Pocket not bad.

We hope to see you tomorrow, Saturday, so if you are not in the 9 ball event you should come by to just hang out.
