Barry's Pepsi sponsor is a local bottler. If you want a national corporation to pony up money you have to guarantee them exposure, and that means TV. Pepsi is not interested on a national or international level in paying to have their name viewed by a couple of 100 people in a room and maybe 1000 (if they are lucky) people on PPV. Tell them 25 million people will have their logo in their faces and out comes the checkbook.

That's if you want to do business with them. If you are looking for a charitable contribution, that's another matter.

You are correct & I freely admit my mistake :) It was a Pepsi Bottling company & not Pepsi itself.

Yeah I was really excited when I heard that he landed Pepsi last year. I was excited because I knew that would have meant he had TV and it turned out that he didn't, and what I thought (we both thought) was a national big-money sponsorship deal was in fact a local company ponying up for a local businessman.

Go chase Justin Bieber and leave the pool to the pool peeps. Sheesh! What a forum name!

Lol, my forum name is a joke. Good job on picking up on that though.

I was just pointing out the simple fact that players overseas don't talk shit or whine as much as American players, if at all.

Sure, as a pool player, I do enjoy Earl's antics. However, it's a big turn off for sponsors and the general public. You know, the ones that pay the bills.

Your obvious bias shouldn't excuse your ignorance of this simple fact.

Fyi last year they signed deal to broadcast in Asia with more than 25 million viewers.

I can now see that in reality you're an unidentified troll. Useless, IOW!

See ya'; wouldn't want to be ya'.

By all means, please explain how I'm being a troll.

Nothing I've said was out of line.

I merely disagreed with your statement that pool needs the shit talkers to be successful. It shouldn't be too difficult to understand why a large company (let's say Coca-Cola) would rather sponsor a tournament full of "emotionless robots" instead of a tournament full of guys like Earl.

Ahh ... winning a pointless internet argument is such sweet bliss. ;)

Thank you. It does feel good!

BTW, do you hear a buzzing sound? It's almost like a gnat in my ear. I feel compelled to swat it.

Absolute proof you truly do live in a world of your own.

We all live in our own world. Some people think its heaven, some think its hell. Some people love life, some hate life. Regardless of how we choose to view it or what spin we put on it, its the same world.

I have been holding back on commenting, but has it ever occurred to any of you that in 36 years of running the US Open, the promoter may have burned too many bridges with potential industry sponsors both new and old.?

Brunswick left if memory serves me correctly! Others may be distancing themselves due to his previous legal problems.

Barry needs to distance himself and turn it over to his daughter. The open needs a clean slate and shed some baggage weighing down the event. Under new management industry sponsors may return.

But, that is assuming that sponsors are the problem and not something else??? A very large assumption i must say!!!

Absolutely Kid, but I'm also afraid that he's dragging Shannon's name equally through the mud at this stage.

Did you get your money?
