Boredom does NOT even enter into the real reason this thread is so popular. I'm hoping that OMGWTF does not read my post, as I'm about to reveal the real reason for the popularity of this thread.
ANY woman who is even halfway good looking, and has even a passing interest in pool will be looked upon with great favor (read "stalked relentlessly") by at least half of the forum. Any posting by or about such a player will have an excellent response - guaranteed.
Pool is not a game that is widely popular among females, but it is pursued to excess by a large number of the afficionado's on this forum. Because they spend so much time on pool, their chances of finding a fulfilling relationship with the opposite gender is severely compromised. Much of their quality fantasy time will be spent imagining the FABULOUS relationship that they could have with a woman who "really understands" what the pursuit of excellence in pool is all about.
It is much of the reason for the popularity of the WPBA, and much of the reason for the frequency of "borderline stalker guys" in the audience at their events (you know....like me....).
I am fascinated by OMGWTF's desire and dedication when it comes to pool; and love her blog. Once Jodie Foster replies to one of my 15,000 fan letters; perhaps I'll send OMGWTF an e-mail.....

You are right on target. But can we really blame them? It IS a biological imperative after all (to suck up to a highly attractive female that is). I think most of the women know this; I'm not so sure that most of the sycophants know that they know it.
The secrets of the universe are a little boring in comparison....just my opinion...Albert Einstein sure knew a good looking woman when he saw one....
If I saw a good looking female throw up all over her shirt, I would at least show some sympathy/concern, just in case she might think I was a nice and sensitive guy (no such thing really, but I don't think they know THAT yet...of course if they read this thread they MAY become suspicious).

I, too, are very familiar with this "phenomenon" of the male pack circling the female and doing the "mating dance". The funniest thing, is that online, some hairy dude could sign up with a username of Ilikeshafts and there would be a 23 page welcome thread for them.
Also, don't you know that nice and sensitive stuff, will relegate you to "friend" status for life? It's the guy that laughed at her and called her derogatory names, that she will be giving her number to.
