My new 9' Diamond Pro

A few months ago, I asked on the forum (can't remember if I started a thread or asked on an existing thread) if anyone would care to post the price they paid for a Diamond Pro because I was in the market for one.

Immediately a couple of know-it-alls jumped in and just reamed me for even asking. The price was the price was the price. Didn't matter who you asked or when, you were going to pay the same regardless according to these Einsteins.

These knuckleheads were dead wrong. And I'm not talking chump-change wrong, I mean WAY wrong. Perhaps they couldn't stand the thought of someone possibly paying less than they had, assuming they even had a Diamond which I doubt.

When I called Diamond, they wanted $6150 for an oak Pro (can't remember if that included Dymondwood rails, but I think it did) and $800 for delivery and set-up.

Several weeks ago I received my cherry-stained oak Pro with rosewood dymondwood rails (they stained the oak to match the rosewood - excellent match too, they look the same to me), a Diamond cue rack and Diamond cover, tournament-blue Simonis 860, delivered and set-up for a sh*tload less than retail. When my dealer delivered it, they gave me a matching Diamond ball rack free and I had never inquired about a ball rack. Didn't need it - have a Delta 13 Elite. My wife likes the Diamond better - doesn't clank like the aluminum Elite.

Don't bother PMing me and asking how much I paid or where I bought it, you will be ignored. I'm not about to throw my dealer under the bus for the great price and service just to be able to say on AZB I only paid X. I'm not giving other dealers the specific ammo to b*tch to Diamond about what my dealer sold me one for.

Unless the Einsteins want to jump in and bet me a few hundred I didn't pay less than Y for the above. That would be tempting. Run your mouths now if you are prepared to escrow the cash with a mutually agreed upon referee.

Do yourself a favor and visit a dealer if you're in the market. If they are like most businesses, you won't get the best price by calling.

Well played sir. You will enjoy your purchase, I know I do. Found my diamond used on eBay. Had to be patient since not too many used diamonds in the market. Just could not afford new. Anyway, check out the leather rack inserts. I got some custom ones that look pretty cool. They make the delta rack sound like a plastic one. Your wife will thank you for sure. And btw, you bought the best, IMO.

Cheers,

JL

I don't know if I should start out by calling you a meathead, but nonetheless. In the pool cue and cases business, and other pool accessories, the manufacturers always sell at full retail. They don't want to undercut their dealers.

Congrats on the table, I will follow your lead when I buy mine.

And I echo the comment about the leather inserts on the Delta 13. It will sound just like a wood rack. I was amazed at the difference it made.

Why so angry?

I always love seeing nice tables in a nice room. Do share some pics of possible.

Here's one of the comments to him from the previous thread (which is not hard to find):
hey. stupid noob. i called a diamond rep for my 9 ft pro am. where's yours?

Justtapitin, It's kind of funny. You follow these threads and alot are on the future of pool. Then you ask a question and if you have a low post count (like me) it's the stupid noob answer.

But the real pros with their money (business) and love invested in the game like Bob Jewett, or Randy G. and Scott Lee always have a helpful hint, advise or at least kind words.

I would like to say, Thank you Bob for all the helpful hints you have given over on the instructors side. I have a note book filled with your advise and hope some day to get out to SF.

Justta, as an old geezer with senior eyes I went with a mint used GC IV. Good luck with that Diamond and those tight pockets. They are pretty and play well.

These are my favorite parts

There's an angry a-hole on this thread. Won't point fingers, but he will ignore you if you ask about his new Diamond.
