A few months ago, I asked on the forum (can't remember if I started a thread or asked on an existing thread) if anyone would care to post the price they paid for a Diamond Pro because I was in the market for one.
Immediately a couple of know-it-alls jumped in and just reamed me for even asking. The price was the price was the price. Didn't matter who you asked or when, you were going to pay the same regardless according to these Einsteins.
These knuckleheads were dead wrong. And I'm not talking chump-change wrong, I mean WAY wrong. Perhaps they couldn't stand the thought of someone possibly paying less than they had, assuming they even had a Diamond which I doubt.
When I called Diamond, they wanted $6150 for an oak Pro (can't remember if that included Dymondwood rails, but I think it did) and $800 for delivery and set-up.
Several weeks ago I received my cherry-stained oak Pro with rosewood dymondwood rails (they stained the oak to match the rosewood - excellent match too, they look the same to me), a Diamond cue rack and Diamond cover, tournament-blue Simonis 860, delivered and set-up for a sh*tload less than retail. When my dealer delivered it, they gave me a matching Diamond ball rack free and I had never inquired about a ball rack. Didn't need it - have a Delta 13 Elite. My wife likes the Diamond better - doesn't clank like the aluminum Elite.
Don't bother PMing me and asking how much I paid or where I bought it, you will be ignored. I'm not about to throw my dealer under the bus for the great price and service just to be able to say on AZB I only paid X. I'm not giving other dealers the specific ammo to b*tch to Diamond about what my dealer sold me one for.
Unless the Einsteins want to jump in and bet me a few hundred I didn't pay less than Y for the above. That would be tempting. Run your mouths now if you are prepared to escrow the cash with a mutually agreed upon referee.
Do yourself a favor and visit a dealer if you're in the market. If they are like most businesses, you won't get the best price by calling.
