Damn hard to win in that environment unless you front run IMO.
British Hooligans are tough to fade. Down right rude IMO.
I'm glad we broke from England when we did.
Americans are too friendly IMO.
Most pathetic Mosconi team of all time. One player (Archer)
I think some of you are forgetting alot !
As of 2011, USA has won the tournament 11 times against 6 victories for Europe and one tie.
Euro's are having alot of momentum now. They HAVE learned the game we used to own.
All we have to do is defend our turf until the momentum comes back to the USA.
It's kind of a joke to have Europe's best players against our best 3 and some others that "qualified" anyway. The problem here is that there is no governing body and major US tour. If there was a way for the top 150 guys to make a living playing this game, we wouldn't have this problem.

I think Europe could put a 2nd team in and still win, there are some great players not playing also for them.
The total wins are pointless to cling to, America was dominant back in the day, but that was the days of Buddy Hall, Sigel, Varner, and other actual full time pro players that the USA no longer has. Furthermore the teams America beat were a bunch of snooker players and up and pool players just starting to learn 9-ball.
America today is way weaker then the teams they once could field in the Mosconi Cup. Americas best team of 1990 would torture 2012's offering.
Just made up a new 9-ball rule (variant):
- alternate break
- the potter of the 9-ball may shoot the first shot after the break
- you may break anyway you like (no 3 balls over headstring rule)
With these rules it can happen that a player has to break, but in such a way that his opponent has no shot.
They could probably build a better team with players not playing. Ralph, Hohmann, Mika, Boyes, and whoever....
And a lot of people didn't think Archer should play this year...maybe Earl should have played as well.
