Mosconi Cup 2012 Day (3) Discussion

Damn hard to win in that environment unless you front run IMO.

British Hooligans are tough to fade. Down right rude IMO.

I'm glad we broke from England when we did.

Americans are too friendly IMO.

Remember why we broke from them.

Team Europe simply played flawless. Maybe they will be ready for some big money action matches here in the US now???

give usa the.....

PHILLIPINOS.....they are our only hope as we dont have the caliber of players to compete on world stage....

the europeans travel here and beat most of us in out own ground

Shane came up really small in a crucial match. We will probably not win this Mosconi Cup, and we probably shouldn't. If not for Big John Archer, we would have been completely embarrassed. That being said, I hope, if we do in fact lose, that Dennis Hatch goes up in the stands and punches a few hooligans in the lip! That crowd was a disgrace...

Did SVB get 2 or 3 shots? Appleton didn't miss. I'm for the USA but that was good pool from Appleton!

I heard that Team USA was paid off by a huge Russian bookie to dump the Cup. Man are they making it look good!!

I think some of you are forgetting alot !

As of 2011, USA has won the tournament 11 times against 6 victories for Europe and one tie.

Euro's are having alot of momentum now. They HAVE learned the game we used to own.

All we have to do is defend our turf until the momentum comes back to the USA.

we know, we just want to cry a little

It's kind of a joke to have Europe's best players against our best 3 and some others that "qualified" anyway. The problem here is that there is no governing body and major US tour. If there was a way for the top 150 guys to make a living playing this game, we wouldn't have this problem.

I think Europe could put a 2nd team in and still win, there are some great players not playing also for them.

The total wins are pointless to cling to, America was dominant back in the day, but that was the days of Buddy Hall, Sigel, Varner, and other actual full time pro players that the USA no longer has. Furthermore the teams America beat were a bunch of snooker players and up and pool players just starting to learn 9-ball.

America today is way weaker then the teams they once could field in the Mosconi Cup. Americas best team of 1990 would torture 2012's offering.

They could probably build a better team with players not playing. Ralph, Hohmann, Mika, Boyes, and whoever....

I agree totally. AND it's no wonder I could never make the team with those guys. But I usta knock heads with them on the Florida tour back when Hatch and Archer needed an adult to buy the beer.
Just trying to ease the pain, that's all !

Just made up a new 9-ball rule (variant):

- alternate break
- the potter of the 9-ball may shoot the first shot after the break
- you may break anyway you like (no 3 balls over headstring rule)

With these rules it can happen that a player has to break, but in such a way that his opponent has no shot.

You are trying to snookerfy Pool
Alternate break
Break defensive

Now add a bigger table, tighter pockets, a points scoring system. and 12 more balls and you may have something. :D

SVB is a class act, so is Archer. Hatch when asked to deliver the cue under pressure, cannot do so. The Europeans must look at that, and the fact he has earned the right to be on that team and realise how weak USA are.

Even with the teams being reduced to 5 players to reduce Europes huge advantage in terms of strength in depth, this USA team is overmatched and it will require something incredible for them to win.

Something as unlikely as the Ryder cup in fact.
