Thats what iam talking about, almost every fight i ever had thats what happen after the fight, had drinks with the person and respect also, and it was all over, none of this garbage!

The first thing the Attorney would consider is who to sue and how much is available. While the guilt of the "puncher" may be unquestionable, his net worth may be negligible. When you move onto the business itself, it starts to get rather cloudy as to the responsibility or guilt of the pool hall. Given the number of pool halls going out of business in the past decade, it may be safe to assume the assets of the pool hall may not be that great. Low assets often equal little or no insurance coverage, this is one of the areas cut out first when a business is struggling with cash flow.

Perhaps you have different real life personal/professional experience with law suits than I've had. I've seen it from both sides, up front and personal/professional. I've never seen it as cut and dried as you would describe it in your post, not even close. Most Attorneys won't consider taking on a civil case on contingency unless there is a reasonably large settlement available and it is a virtual lock.

I guess I'm pretty soured on lawyers after seeing so much destruction at their hands.

The principle is deep pockets. My sister was taught that at Stanford law school. To paraphrase the professors at one our greatest law schools: It does not matter who is right or wrong, justice does not matter, the only thing that matters is deep pockets.

In other words, if they have the money, sue them. Which is what you said and what I said, I was just longer winded about it and more crass.

Video evidence, facial injury, brain injury...yeah. If anybody has any money that can be sued in this case they are screwed.

But just as you said, no money, no law suit. Precisely.

Things are tough all over. Just the other day, I saw a lawyer walking down the street and he had his hands in his own pockets.

Thats to bad stuff like this has to happen. Its a sad thing when that many people stand around and watch this instead of stopping this.

Anybody know where this happened?

WARNING: NSFW language and a little blood

EDIT: Breakers in Mobile, AL (see post #26)

Real classy place...no matter how out of line the punchee may or may not have been, this just shows the overall class of the place. The people filming it, not for evidence, but for fun...getting a good laugh out of it. The funny part is, alot of times when these morons tape there bad behavior it tunrs out to get used against them in court.

The guy that got decked seemed to be very drunk and the other guy isn't some young guy, he looks older as well.

The guy took two good punches and got up on his own feet .Would have been nice to see him come back in and scatter the crowd of antagonists with some shrapnel.

I just meant by "great guy" that he really had to be pushed to do this. All we see are the punches, who knows what happened or was said to cause this. The man that got punched is from mobile and must know that the puncher was a golden gloves champion back in his prime. Just answered the question of where this happened, wasnt defending anyone.

Is he the same one that Scotty Townsend got into it with at a tourny in Moblie awhile back? I think someone told me he was a ex-professonal boxer?

Been to Moblie playing three different times and saw a fight all three times I was there and only went to two poolrooms. If this is the same guy Scotty got into it with once, I also had a problem with him when I was playing mophead a ahead set. He was drunk and came over and moved the balls two different times.

The puncher is not a drinker at all and is a very quiet soft spoken local, but obviously can turn into a monster very quickly. He and scotty have been known to have words merely because scotty is always tryin to test him because of his boxing backround. But its "testing" in a friendly way. Believe me, he had to have been seriously provoked or taken advantage of in order to do this. I used to play pool and spent a lot of time in mobile and this man used to ride with us just because he enjoys the pool seen. I have seen this man poked at and joked with because of his backround and never put his hands on anyone. Like i said he is a friend but i dont agree with what happened but believe me, something serious caused this to happen. He is not that type of person, and the backround in that place definately did not help things. Fridays and saturdays can get a little out of hand down there, security should have stepped in as soon as the crowd gathered. I do hope the man who did get punched is ok and im sure my friend does as well.

Yeah the security guard should have come over with all that commotion. Of course those guys are probably constantly getting loud so he's probably used to it.

It really looks like the puncher tried to avoid this.... the other guy keep getting in his "personal" zone....

Plue, the fact the punchee knows this guy is an ex-boxer makes me feel sorry for him less....

It looks like another case of watch me stand up to the "bad ass", and get in his face, and chirp at him in front of the entire pool room......

I would NOT have hit him because he did not touched me, but again, you put your fingers in the tigers cage, do not be surprised when he bites them off :) You provoke anyone enough, all bets are off, regardless if it is justified or not....

It just speaks to the class of the room itself that they let this kind of thing happen, time and time again. You act like that in a nice place, you dont get allowed back. Its clear they have dont care about there rep if this old drunk boxer is able to pick fights over and over.

With that kind of crowd, and all the heckling they were doing, you couldn't pay me large to go in that place, no matter where it is. Talk about low class/no class, those hecklers take the cake.
