Shane Van Boening: What about him....

I also want people to remember Shane ran a seven pack unfinished on the same table against Alex to close out the day.

Personally it doesnt matter to me what they play on. It is a bit annoying when you give people what they ask for repeatedly and then they decide they dont want it anymore.....and you know damn well as soon as you go back to the old set up the first thing people will say is "This is way too easy for these guys".

To fix it I think I will do what politicians do. Just have a poll and whichever side wins gets what they want. Then when anyone complains we just tell them "They did it."

Its the American way.

Surely, by now, you are more than aware that it is impossible to please a pool player?

Btw, when SVB ran the 7 pack did the table have new cloth? I'm guessing it did since there has been no packages even close since that match. I think it appears to be a great table. Would people wanna see Tiger play on a par 3 golf course? Keep up the good work...hope you are well JCIN.

I personally don't have a problem with the table. I was just stating what I heard Shane say. I don't know him personally so I have no insight on his real thoughts. Justin I love the TAR matches and support whatever table they play on.

I thought this table was just redone right before this match was played. JCIN should be able to say for sure, but I thought I read that some where.

Do you need "more precise cue ball control?"....not at all, as a matter of fact if you get straight in on the end rail you can easily get back down table.

That's the whole complaint, you DO NOT need as good cue ball control. There's no punishment for getting "out of line."

I think I get it now. I mentioned getting a little too much angle as being an easy situation on slow cloth. But I guess the flip side is ...a little too straight will be brutal, you have to really muscle a ball to make it travel over 10 feet.

Still, as you said earlier... just as shane doesn't like johnny's table and vice versa... it's all a matter of preference. I don't think one is better than the other. Slow cloth doesn't separate the men from the boys, it just separates the older guys who grew up on it from the younger guys who aren't used to it.

The table was recovered with 860 the week before the match. Both guys played on it for a couple of days before the match started.

Buddy didn't travel outside the USA. Sigel quit. Earl on the other hand with three or four world Championships did dominate pool globally.

QUOTE]

Earl won 6 World Pool Champioships and 5 US Opens. In time SVB may do that but with payouts and the life style would he want to ?

I think I have decided that I like the 4 1/8" pockets on the TAR table. It's fun to see the best in the world get tested, and every inning is full of suspense because there are no gimme outs.

.....One thing is certain. If we do put the 4.5" back on the Shane haters will squeal. I honestly believe the only thing that has slowed him down enough to get beat in a few of the matches is tight pockets getting in his head. I know it has happened. I talked to him after beating Daz and he told me the pockets were messing with him. I asked him if he though we needed to go back to 4.5" and he said "No. The table is perfect. I have to work harder."

JCIN, no complaints here, I enjoyed the stream.

I am not sure how you play, but what's it like for a mere mortal to play on that table?

I am a C player and I can probably beat the 10 ball ghost on my 9' Diamond about 1 out of 5 times, I wouldn't take 20 to 1 on that table.

Justin plays better than I do though.

No offense but... C players beat the 10 ball ghost like... never. :p

In any case, I know you know your pool John, and saying you wouldn't take 20:1 says a lot @ that beast of a table. I bet even the ghost would just look at that table and RUN away!

Everyone knows that Shane is America's best pool player.

Yesterday, he beat Europe's best player, Darren Appleton 25-17. Today they play again on TAR.

This year Shane has had some EPIC matches against WORLD CHAMPION Johnny Archer and WON.

Has Shane learned how to tough it out against the world's best on a regular basis, regardless of whether he is on the one-loss side or not?

Is it possible in this day and time for someone like Shane to truly dominate like Earl did in the past or like Buddy or Sigel did? Some people claim that time has passed and that there are too many great players for there to be a dominate player ever again. They say that one player is on top today and another tomorrow.

Just wondering if we are witnessing another dynasty in the making?

i hope shane stands up to the test of time. he has his foot in the door-can he keep in the door? dont know lets see in 10,15,20 years. most likely he will. unless he gets the "yips" and cant pull the trigger.

pray for him

let's all just hope that shane doesn't catch the Corey syndrome, after being bored of beating on the rest of the US for a few years.

now if we can just master cloning maybe we will win another mosconi

That's not what happened to Corey.

What happened to Corey is $$, he no longer had to win to get paid, the tribe was paying him very well, he did not have to fight and claw anymore. And he seems like he has never found the hunger again, sad as he is as talented at this game as anyone ever.

did not know that

thanks for pointing that out.

but, isn't that a long way of saying "lose interest", lol. I'm sure he needs money now, don't think the tribe is still paying him like that if at all, or his cue selling that well.

anyone know what Alex is up too, or even Ralf
