Hello,

Lots of times I see some mistakes naming woods...
Let's see what you guys can come up with...

Ambroyna should read "Amboyna"
Cocobola should read "Cocobolo"
Babinga should read "Bubinga"

Any other good examples out there?
 
This thread was just inteneded to be a fun moment in this forum. Thanks Kim, Rick, Gary and Bill for your suggestions.
I do feel that are are more ways that people spell a lot of the woods we use when making a cue.

LOL! Makes me think of all the times I have heard people call a JOSS cue a JOSH cue.....where's the H people? There is NO H! :D

My least favorite is to call wood "rosewood." Is it Brazilian, East Indian, Cocobolo, Madagascan, Palisander, Burmese, Kingwood, Honduran, Guatemalan, Amazon, etc? I mean, it could be Tulip, Bois de Rose or African Blackwood and still qualify as "rosewood." Don't even get me started on the "fake" rosewoods like African Rosewood (Bubinga), Borneo, Santos/Bolivian Rosewood (Morado) and Jacaranda (a catch-all for anything in S. America that resembles rosewood).

How about that "Sonoma" cloth? (Simonis)
I have a customer I love that likes to shoot with a medium "Murphey." (Moori)
Another prefers the "radial 3/8-10" pin.

My friend calls one "Purple Hard" , Now that leaves the door wide open....lol especially if you want a shaft made from it and you'd like it to be stiff or whippy....lol
