SVB vs Bowman on the bar table for $5000

For anyone wondering why Jesse would butt heads with SVB, just note 1) Jesse doesn't duck a BB match and 2) Jesse & SVB have been battling all over the midwest for a looong time. This isn't the first & it won't be the last.

Jesse tortured Shane forever...but Shane would pump back up & come back for more. IMO, it's a significant part of what made Shane the player he is today. Now Shane is "He can't beat me" SVB yet they continue to match up whenever they cross paths.

I have a feeling this rivalry will continue on until they are crotchety old men.

FWIW, the last I heard (and it is likely to change before the $$$ goes on the light) Jess gets 3 games going to 20 on the barbox with alternating breaks.

--When was the last time that SVB and Jesse played? You make it sound like that play each other every 6 months.

--The reason why Jesse will play and doesn't care, as JAM wanted to believe, that this wiill hurt his future action is because what action does Jesse get or has he been in on a bar table?

I'm glad we are back to talking about a bar table match and not the SVB - Frost one pocket match.

I would be shocked to see this go down. PM what the match is and I might bet some on Jesse to get the ball rolling. He used to post here and is on many of the stream chats.

I am certainly not going to match Jesse up or help him match up. You know the action in St Louis or at least I think I know you should. If you think that your bet would get the ball rolling, then I'd get in touch with the source of the action. Not to offend, but I don't think your bet would make a difference in a game such as that happening or not.

Oh, come on, I'm entitled to make a boo-boo every now and then! :grin-square:

SVB travels the world, so they don't cross paths as much as they did 5-10 years ago. That said, they've played several matches over the last 4-5 years, some clandestine, some public. You might find some info about the public ones in a search. The others are more difficult to research.

Jess doesn't play much because people aren't jumping out from behind every rock to play him. I've seen Jess offer fair games to some pretty stiff competition & not get played. Jess doesn't woof, he just offers a fair game point blank. Very business like. So this is pretty much the reason you don't hear of him playing anyone but SVB...and why he rarely picks up a cue. Shane's just about the only one that is willing to mix it up.

The last time SVB came to town, Jess jumped up & played him cold. How many have the heart to do that?

Upstate Al posted on facebook saying this is first stream and it will be free. It looks like it's set, whatever format it may be.

Assuming you are referring to them playing at Big Dogs in the back room in that 9 ball match I was there and remember it all very well. There were some fantastic shots made and man was SVB tough that match.

I'm talking about a spur of the moment match in the Quad Cities. The Big Dogs match was a prearranged match with paid spectators seats, right?

Yeah, that was a prearranged match with paid seats. You are talking about a different one.

Its close!

Jessie can beat anybody in the world on a BB if its his night, break working, been playing, rested. SVB we all know will do his thing, but on a BB is close, I'd like to see them play on a 8'' table?

I think SVBs' break would be a non-factor on an 8 inch table. Those use the spring loaded cues, right?

I saw what you did there you silly goose.

The latest from John Stich is that they will be playing 9 ball, alternate breaks. Races to 20, best 2 out of 3 sets, with Jesse getting spotted 3 games per set.

Didn't Shane play Jesse on a bar box in Des Moines, maybe 5 years ago and won handily.

Sure did, but SVB doesn't always win. That's how these matches go...someone gets a strangle hold on the other & it's over. With their firepower, these guys don't trade innings like us mere mortals do...

If Jesse is playing well, he can string racks together with the best of them. This match will be fast action. I'm not sure that the 3 games on the wire in winners break is that significant. In alternate breaks, 3 games will be a factor.
