Shorething Billiards in Myrtle Beach held a 1000$
added handicap tournament this weekend .
They put my 73 year old half blind father in law in the
tournament as a 3. Well he was in the losers bracket after a day and nights play but was still in as of this morning. He shows up and the girl Megan that runs the tournament informs him that she was moving him up to a 5 and he has to replay his last match from last night against the guy she dates Gatlin. Gatlin was OUT of the tournament. Megan told the old man he could replay the match or forfeit. Fugin really? Well the old man lost to no surprise.
He was cheated. Never heard of someone out of a tournament getting put back in like this. How about the other people he played. The old man was already in the losers bracket.
Feel free to post this on Facebook if you choose

EDIT TO ADD
There are some inaccuracies in this post
Megan and Gatlin are NOT a couple
Some scores are incorrect
Any thoughts on this

Sounds like he got screwed to me. Sorry to hear it, not real surprised though because somebody's always getting screwed in a poolhall. I woulda raised a big stink over it.

That's chickenshit. A real class act knock a old man out so your boyfriend gets another shot. I'd never play there again.

It does seem pretty shady. If there was any reason to replay the match it should have been addressed during that match or directly after. Sounds the TD got sick of her man whining about the loss all night.

Unless he purposely represented himself as a weaker player, only to be found out to be a stronger player......a tournament handicap should remain until the next tournament.

Even if they want to move someone up during the tournament between matches, you can't bring someone who's already lost back to play.

I wouldn't waste my time in this tournament again, and I'd probably have a talk with the room owner and/or manager to let them know what happened. This will look bad on them and they may have no idea she did it.

The old man is a local that didn't stand a chance as a 5
Even like you said if they were going to move him up in between matches would have been fine, but to make him replay a match against someone who lost out the day before because he was drunk is just stupid to me.
The other people that lost out didn't get another shot at it
Bad judgement IMO

Sounds like a great tournament director. She should be finding another job if this situation is accurately represented by the OP.

I wonder what the TD and the room owner would think if you threatened
them with a small claims court suit.

Sounds to me like they couldn't run a hotdog stand.

Funny story about Gatlin and the old mans first match
The old man breaks on the hill(loser break) and makes the7 on the break which is one of his hot balls. Fast forward ... The old man is getting ready to shoot the 8 in and Gatlin informs him that the 7 he made on the break had to be spotted back up lol The old man fell for it but when he shot at the spotted 7 ball (that didn't have a pocket) he caroms in the 9
Talk about Carma

I really thought I had heard everything when it comes to pool. Gotta say though making a guy replay a match he already won at a new higher handicap the next day is a new one.

What a joke.

I agree on all fronts! They sure sound like a classy couple.

Just add this thread to the long list of what's wrong with the pool industry in America. Just when you think it cannot get any worse along comes the story of a pool hall screwing around with a 73 year old gentleman. How low can people go??? If I were him I'd probably say the hell with it...

This exact thing happened to me. Almost. Only it was a monopoly tournament.

The librarian made me start the final table game over that I had in the bag (hotels on boardwalk PP and all the greens) cause I knocked her daughter out of the tourney and her daughter said our money had been close together and may have got mixed up.
