Main Forum = CJ Wiley Forum now?

Does anyone else think this has gone a little too far. There are 4-5 threads on the first page of the main forum regarding CJ and TOI consistently. Why isn't all of this in the ask an instructor section or somewhere else. Hey, I am not trying to bash him or his work, heck- give him his own section for all I care but I don't see any other instructor having their videos posted on the main category like this. Bad precedent IMHO.

Go ahead, flame away......

Oh wait, SH%T. I just added to the problem. :grin-square:

I think its a fad that will pass. We have seen it before. At one point it was Dippy threads then CTE threads now its CJ. In a couple months it will be something else. I agree that it can be a little overwhelming at times seeing multiple threads on the same video or multiple question threads.

I think it would make sense to give him his own forum that way all his stuff is easy to find for those who want it.

IMO there are too many sub-forums as it is. CJ's stuff could go into the aiming forum, but all in all it doesn't bother me. I just don't read them if I'm not interested.

justin <- believe it or not, the voice of reason. well said.

It doesn't bother me, I'd rather see CJs threads than Pangit having 3 or 4 non sense threads running at 1 time. There are several posters that have multiple threads on any given day
It's all good with me, also it's not always CJ starting CJ related threads

Ah, yes. GCW, the Great CTE War. It went on for many months and cost thousands of lives. I myself was seriously wounded by an exploding cue ball. Many here have never quite been the same since.
I say leave him be. Like yesterday's shit, this to will also pass.

Its like Justin mentioned. Certain topics go in phases.

Altho, it seems that CJ has used the Main Forum as a venue for his personal sales.

Truthfully, I have no interest in his sales pitches nor anything he is hawking, now or in the future so if I see his name pop up on a new thread, I just don't click on it.

Probably the easiest thing to do for anyone that feels that same.

Just post on the topics that you find interesting and you will quickly bump his threads to the bottom or the next page.

I like Robert Cotton, Alfie and Geno and have never thought anything about them advertising their books or lessons.
All three of them also relate interesting stories
Must be something about CJ's pitches that turned me off from the start. Too bad because there may be something great in what he is teaching. Guess I'll never find out.

Oh, I know what it is. When John Brumback or Lee Brett advertised their DVDs, they actually gave you a thorough video presentation
of what you will be learning if you purchase their videos.

I clicked on CJ's threads stating the word "FREE" something this or the other and there was nothing FREE in there so automatically, I associated CJ's threads with a bunch of Hokum. It was just a big Suck In to get you to open the thread.

All I ever saw was him holding a cue ball up in front of the camera and giving a K Tel or Popeil Pocket Fisherman spiel about how great his techniques are.

Without a demo, I decided that his techniques must be so easy that if he were to give a simple demo, that we would instantly see how easy it is or full of whooey, either way and not buy a DVD.

So, in the end, I felt it was all in the presentation of what he is selling. Altho, I do miss the old K Tel and Popiel commercials.

you don't have to be a "road player" anymore to get this information???

You're right, it's probably "just a fad," I mean Wade Crane told me Luther Lassiter used the same type of system, just never told anyone about it, so that makes it......hmmm, 50-60 years old? Yeah, it's definately a "fad" and shouldn't be around more than a few more decades before it fizzles out.

Wait a minute, it's now in the "mainstream" pool world, so you don't have to be a "road player" anymore to get this information???

uht oh....that means that the old way of playing "hit one ball into another ball and make it hit a contact point and use different spins, speeds, ghost balls and calculate it every time you shoot" system is going out of style?

That would certainly be a shame, it's so much better to keep the whole world down so they are playing a game that's RIDICULOUSLY TOUGH as opposed to a way that makes it very simple and very easy. Yes indeed. ;)

I can see why you would "hold it against me" for doing everyone such an "injustice".....God Forbid pool get popular again so it's enjoyable for everyone that plays it and professionals can make a decent living playing back on TV again....that would be "tragic" now wouldn't it. ;)

I agree completely. Don't read them if you're not interested.

Anybody that runs out that easy playing 15 ball rotation, i want to hear what he is doing and saying!

I see it like CJ is trying to teaching those that want to play better, to do just that play better, now what could be wrong with that?

The man is one of a few most feared money player that ever lived!

Keep up the good work CJ, i would have to believe much more of us like it then dislike it!

Now wait a minute CJ. Did I say that your technique is a passing fad?

NO, I agreed with Justin, that certain topics and threads tend to be a fad in the main forum.

I also mentioned that its too bad that I will never get to find out as to whether I might be missing out on something great because your technique
is 100%.

I said that I didn't care for the presentation of what you are selling.

That alone is what kept me from Pay Paling you.

Pretty simple.

I agree I get on AZ every day like a lot of people. And if there is a post on here from ANY member that doesn't interest me I do not open the thread that member posted on here.

Just because any/all members post on here regardless who/what their name is doesn't mean you have to open them. A lot of threads on here I could care less about that's why you skip it and go to the next one. Or put them on block and you don't even see them, this is much easier to do than complain about it.

I like the CJ threads. So it's not a problem for everyone. There are much more annoying subjects on AZB than TOI. But I agree with you that he could have his own subforum in the 'ask the pro' section.

I agree.

There are very many on AZB that hardly ever post.

They are called the silent majority.

Most of the threads in the main forum are peripheral to actually playing pool any way.

Guys this is a pool site. We have one of the top American players to ever hold a cue posting here on a regular basis. Who cares if he is selling stuff. You think Lee Trevino gets treated this way on a golf forum? Of course not, cause in other sports you couldn't get a legend to spend his free time with us regular folk.

Besides, what would you rather read? discussions about $50 cubes of chalk and how often I change my cue tips?

....................Exactly...................

Who wants to hear from a world champion and legendary road player when we could be discussing religion or looking at funny pics?
