Main Forum = CJ Wiley Forum now?

Why are people riled up about what is in what forum? Seriously there are more important things to worry about in life so grow up!

We need a "WTF" sub forum perhaps more so than any other. Many threads would probably get moved there.

Who wants to hear from a world champion and legendary road player when we could be discussing religion or looking at funny pics?

We HAVE a bingo!

I think some people would complain if they got hung with a new rope.

IMO, Touch of Inside = Ton of Insight, and I don't give a rodent's butt where it should or shouldn't be discussed.

I don't think you need too very much tenure with AZBF, there is more incite than insight.

MAYBE there should be a subforum for non pool related stuff,

wait,
wait for it,

There already is one! Huh... Politics and religion... go figr.

Hey now...some of us need a good laugh from the funny pics thread just to lighten up from the work day!

I'm of the opinion that you can just ignore them. I click on some of them when I'm interested. Some people are just too busy policing others to live their own lives. I have learned long ago to stop monitoring others and to live my own life. Also, I do enjoy hearing from the pros; I respect their opinions and usually give them a lil more weight than others.

Yep, and yer pretty good at that lately so keep em coming. I find that I click on the Funny thread the first thing after I log on.

The rest of the threads can be read later. I always need my morning chuckle.

I dont really mind CJ threads in the main forum... He doesnt have his own forum yet and I still wouldnt mind a few in the main forum if he did.

I cant stand all the TOI stuff in the main forum though. There was a Aiming forum designed just for that type of conversation.

You haven't noticed, that CJ has found a way to circumvent the "Aiming System Forum"...He has done it by posting, looooong posts, about 22 hrs a day...His 'Media Blitz" is incomparable...He has become a "Justin Beiber like" Idol, for all the 'Tweeners, and Bangers on the site...Which sadly seem to comprise, about 95% of the membership here at AZJC Billiard's.

He has even captivated a few adult members, right John B. ?...To all the people who think Mr Wiley may be OVERDOING it just a tad..I say, it may be over soon..Yes, Mr. Wiley is feeling his oats, and has begun issuing challenge's, to ALL the top level player's...He is starting to brag a little bit like Bill Stroud, when he first came out of retirement..Bill soon found out, that hey..some of these youngster's play pretty f-ing good !!!

CJ appears headed down that same road, if not moreso !...He MAY find out there are guy's half his age, that may very well, destroy him..Even with him having the unfair advantage of using "TOI"..Stay tuned ! :boring2:

I'll be curious to see how it all comes out...(But I think its safe to say It won't be streamed on TAR !!!

I am sending him a good book...
I don't think he's read it !!..;).

What do you suggest he do, get a UPS job? Why do you begrudge him trying to get a game. If you think he has no chance, just go ahead and bet against him, don't you like a sure thing?

Who's goose?

lol, yeah, that reference might have been a tad obscure. I was thinking of the opening speech from "Patton" where he's standing in front of the giant flag and at the end he says, "We're going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we're going to go through him like crap through a goose."

We run a lot of that through the goose here :-)

Prewarhero posted a simple question/opinion as to whether it was appropriate for CJ Wiley to be using the main forum to sell his products. He clearly stated that he was not bashing CJ or his work. While there was no shortage of opinions, many of them well reasoned, there were some that tried to turn this into something that it was not.

Mr. Wiley himself illustrated that the original point being made by Prewarhero had merit when he turned a personal attack on someone named “Lou” showing a picture of Lou Ferrigno and then providing the link to his website so that we could “discover our best game and start winning”. (I must admit that I found some humour in it when he started using this thread to pitch his wares.)

Mr. Wiley, no one was advocating that you not benefit from the sale of DVD’s etc. no one was asking that you give it away and I think that your statement “that people are coming out of the woodwork to try to destroy TOI before it can spread the “good news” is another example that you cannot refrain from the temptation to use this main forum as a vehicle to sell your wares. Prewarhero is right in thinking that you might have went beyond the boundaries of good taste in this respect and should reign it in (my words) and, as others have indicated, put your commercial ventures into a more appropriate forum. I noticed that by the end of the thread JB cases had started his advertising again (great looking case by the way).

There are many skilled players, pro’s and road players, that are generous in their sharing of knowledge with those lesser players such as I and I have been fortunate to know a few. In addition, I have bought instructional DVD’s and found them to be helpful. I am sure that CJ Wiley is as generous in freely sharing his knowledge with his friends/acquaintances and for the rest of us his DVD’s, are available to be purchased and would help expand our knowledge and add to our game.

The issue was simple, Prewarhero felt that the use of the main forum as a personal advertising site was becoming too frequent and I believe that any reasonable person can see that this is the case (sorry for the pun JB) in some instances.

Though I disagree with some of this, I do agree with some of it, too. This rebuttal to CJ's large volume of certain types of posting on this forum was very well presented. If most posters would sincerely take the time to put down their opinions as well as you have, sir/ma'am, without the snide comments, this forum would be much easier to navigate. Tap, Tap, Tap!

Best,
Mike

Perfectly written, my opinion exactly..cheers..

Love him or hate him the one thing that shouldn't be disputed is his ability as a player and the methods he's teaching. Personally I feel that what we are getting from Cj is certainly worth the price we're paying, what ever it is. I look at forums the same way I look at an inning of one pocket. I go to the table ..we log on into the forum...I then look at my options....as we look,at the available topics (threads)...I then decide what shot is best for me considering how I feel and then I focus and execute....Isn't that exactly the method you used in deciding to read this post? I really don't have the answers to the question of...how much is too much...only you can answer that question. However, I can honestly say that I am grateful to CJ for posting his teachings, he has got me back to playing more confident by putting more emphasis on ...respecting the hit with the cue ball....My accuracy has improved and I now have more consistency with my game. I also like when he says that he tries to use the same speed with every shot. Using the same speed or close to it lends to consistency, which in turn raises your percentage of succeeding. The last time I looked this was a pool forum...am I missing something?

The issue is not one of love or hate, and no one can dispute his past accomplishments, or the value of whatever he is teaching. The only point that was originally brought up, and stated as an opinion/question in a respectful way was whether others also felt that CJ was going too far in continually jumping into threads, often with a comment that had a tenuous, or no, connection to the subject matter and clearly was only using this as a vehicle to promote his products.

This was not an attack on him, his system or his abilities as a player (although some tried to make it that, including CJ). It was simply a gentle reminder that the main forum should not become an infomercial for him or anyone else. Several have pointed out that a suitable venue(s) exist to get his message across within the AZ forums that were set up for just that.

CJ had stated that when he first started posting here, that making and selling his DVDs were not his intention.

I had wondered that when the milk cow had dried up, would he still be here.

And that was based on one player that showed up a couple of times looking for Mosconi Cup votes and not ever participating in
any further AZ threads. And another that shows up once in a while asking for donations to a tournament and to sell his books and dvds. Then poof, he is gone also.

If his statement is true, then he will still be here for the long run after his sales have slowed up and thats a good thing.

I have never complained about a player making a few bucks from his knowledge gained. It probably took many players a considerable amount of money and many times money lost to gain that knowledge of the game.

If a person wants to share that and make a few dollars doing it, then fair game and better for us. Its not like they are going to make a million on dvd sales so its just a way of recouping their expenses.

My issue with CJ wasn't anything more than his presentation that rubbed me the wrong way and in hind sight, I should have just kept my mouth shut because it clearly bothered him and it shouldn't have been a problem for me that I would hurt someones feelings over it.

And for that, I apologize to you CJ.

Does Life, Forums, Games, change, or do they stay the same?

This is 100% accurate!

Our pool game, minds, and bodies are never the same. Life is always changing, and once we accept this reality, and are willing to understand how to make the adjustments we can turn this into an advantage.

I see players start out really well in a match, however, they are not hitting the center of the pocket on their shots. They may be over cutting or under cutting slightly, and it's usually predictable after a few games. If they don't know how to adjust for those "near misses" they soon turn into total misses.

This will tend to shake someone up, it's like "I was playing so well, then suddenly I couldn't make a ball," however the truth of the matter is it wasn't "suddenly" they had the "tell tail signs" earlier and didn't pay attention or wasn't watching the object ball go into the pocket.

When I contact the cue ball, I immediately watch the object ball go into the pocket to see what part of the pocket it's contacting. The cue ball is the primary target, so you have to aim carefully at the cue ball. The pocket reflects how you hit the cue ball so you must get the feedback from the pocket or you're "playing in the dark," and sooner or later it will have an impact......and never a good one.

I make "micro adjustments" with my cue ball "Tip Target" until it aligns perfectly with my "Pocket Target". This calibration is something that must consistently be done to keep from having "ups and downs" in my performance AND my confidence. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Bill Stroud no C.J.

SJD,
Bill Stroud no matter what he says never played C.J.'s speed. Also
when he started playing again he was over 70, C.J. under 50. Billy
quit for over 50 years, big difference.

Since reading this post I started being more aware of the topics on the main forum, and you are exactly right, many don't have much at all to do with pool.

Listen, anyone that says the TOUCH OF INSIDE (TOI) is an aiming system hasn't even looked into it. Saying TOI is an aiming system is like saying that a pool cue is an aiming system, or a pendulum stroke is an aiming system.

We teach people how to make every shot on the table seem the same. I do this by getting them to understand how to use the same speed, create the same angle relative to a consistent set up and also hit the cue ball slightly on the same side of center - TOI (low/high/medium).

This is how to play a highly advance style of pool, one that can produce effective results and without practicing 6-8 hours a day. There's no reason to have to practice that much if you have good fundamentals. It's like eating 6 hours a day, it's just a waste of time, you can do what you need in one hour. Now that may just be the quote of the day, THNX CJ!
