Morgan Freeman

Hey Joey,
I was just going to add my name to the petition when I read this. Sorry Morgan didn't work out.....it would've been nice. As far as another guest commentator I'd recommend Mike "Fingers" Badsteubner out of NY. I've heard him speak on other pool streams and was impressed with his knowledge of the game and the way in which he explained it.

You know I was thinking about that petition. Go ahead and sign it anyway. While Mr. Freeman is off making yet another movie, he will occasionally have some down-time and I have the feeling (or I want to have the feeling) that he might still do this one day.

If Mike "Fingers" Badsteubner is going to be at this event, please have him get in touch with me. I've always enjoyed meeting new people and doing commentary with people I have never met, especially with people who come high recommended.

Thanks,
JoeyA

BTW, how do you feel about having "instructors" doing commentary in the booth? Any particular ones?

Thanks,
JoeyA

I'd like to see Stan Shuffett and RandyG do commentary on pool tournaments.

Heck I'd even like to do commentary at a pool tournament. :)

Joey, you got me so jazzed up that I'm coming early to see the last few days of the Ultimate Ten Ball. Save me a seat and I'll join you for a match or two. You're famous enough for me! Who cares about Morgan Freeman when you can sit right next to JOEY A!!!!

Ok Joey,
Signed the petition and pm'ed "Fingers". I don't know him personally but I'm sure others here do. I just read that he is doing some commentary at the SBE this weekend. If I see him, I'll let him know.

Joey, I think you still have a chance to get Morgan to sit in with you at some point. It is something that he has no doubt ever done before and at the very least, I bet that you peaked his interest.

People like him that are interested in what other people do like to do things like this. Just because he can afford to fly to Nepal and climb Mount Kilimanjaro if he wanted to, doesn't mean that he wouldn't be interested in learning how to commentate a pool match.

Its just a little thing that he can put on his resume of life. Keep trying, it will happen.

You are the best Jay! :)

Seat saved.

THANKS!

Thanks Blue Hog ridr!

I agree with you. Some day.....

Teaching Morgan Freeman do pool commentary will be like telling your best friend how to breathe.

Oh, ok. Thanks javi2.

Joey thanx for make such a great effort to do something to pump up our sport. Pool is going to be making a turn for the better and efforts such as yours are going to be a part of it.

Haha, I know Joey will keep trying. Think of where we would be if people that had ideas stopped because of a small detour in the road.

We wouldn't have electricity, phones, autos etc.

Ok,
Jay Helfert has volunteered to help out a pal and sit in the booth. Filling in Mr. Freeman's shoes is a tall order. I mean Jay is known practically as well as Morgan Freeman and like Morgan, Jay has been there and done that but a little extra shine wouldn't be bad for pool: So where is that guy who knows Johnny Depp?

Do you think Johnny would show up for ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSIONAL POOL TOURNAMENTS IN THE WORLD as Captain Jack Sparrow, "pro bono"? I can make a single promise to any star (except for Jane Fonda) and that is I promise to do everything in my power to make sure they have a great time doing pool commentary with JoeyA.

JoeyA,
Give them the Orange crush if they show up! Then they will have a wonderful time. I know you will feed and drink them plenty. They will have all a person can hold under their belt.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Why, yer not Fonda Jane? I mean Hanoi Jane.

No one here knows Johnny Depp much beyond seeing one of his movies.

I have a tattoo and apparently so does Johnny. We be tight don't cha know.

Had to laugh

I had to laugh seeing Joey's post.

Still have a handful of friends that served in 'nam, getting fewer every day it seems like sometimes. None of them have forgotten that bltch, neither me!

Hu

I saw Morgan Freeman at one of the Delta Sky Clubs at the Atlanta airport once. Funny thing was on the same day I ran SVB over while going to my gate, apparently he was flying to Europe for a tourny and had a quick connection and was running through the airport. He bumped into me and almost fell down and I looked up and saw who it was and said SVB! and he looked a bit puzzled and said "whats up" and took off lol

Someone said they knew JohnnyD personally.

He would be a blast in the commentary booth.

JoeyA - I really like the out of the box thinking here.

I like having the tradional setup where you have one commenator and then the color guy. Too often, you find two commentator types in the both at the same time. That's what I don't like. To me, it's seems like the best color guys are the great story tellers.

With that in mind, how about some authors from outside the pool world? Or even a local sports reporter type. Someone that doesn't take themselves too seriously, but yet has some contacts within the more popular sports circles.

Just throwing stuff out there...

Edit...

Still thinking out loud here.

The local sports reporter guy could be the local news guy. Often times I think they like the attention and it could be a good way to get them to actually do a story on pool for a change. Especially if it's right in their back yard.
