AZ Ten Year Anniversary??

It seems to me that this nutty website started back in 2003. I'll probably be wrong about that but if I am right then it must be coming up on it's ten year anniversary. What was the first day it was online??
 
I registered the domain name on June 16th, 1998. Of course, it was originally meant to just be Arizona pool. That didn't last long.

This version of the forums was launched in 2003 though.

We have been working on a new AzBilliards and I think (home) that everyone will be happy with the new site. We have been working on it for quite a while now and are very close to it being ready for prime time.

Great accomplishment, Mike. You have provided an incalculable level of emotional experience for an unbelievable # of folks. Some peopl ride life and others are drivers. You are a Chauffer!

I often wonder about the business end of the olde AZB, thanks for sharing and congrats on your 15th year of industry ass kicking!

Hi Mike, I look forward to seeing the newer version as well. After posting my question yesterday I went to you stats and saw that you are listed as joining on 3/21/2003 so I guess that would have been the online beginning so to speak. It's hard to believe how fast ten years has gone and how much this website has meant to the pool players all over the world. The impact it has on the members lives runs the gamut of emotions some good, some as they say not so much! Thanks for all the hard work in keeping it around for the first decade!!!
 
10 years is around a 100 years in internet time. Amazing. This is a great site that I've only recently been able to become familiar with. Keep up the great work.
 
I may be wrong but my recollection is there were forums before 2003 and then they were changed for some reason and everyone's join date was reset to 2003.

Hey Nostroke, I don't think anyone was reset to 2003. I do remember when the site was redone and lots of posts and threads were lost, including my first thread titled Buzz In Da Butt. Anyway if you hover your cuser over Mike's username it shows him as the first member and his join date was 3/21/2003. I did look through some of the oldest posters like Smorgass Bored and the dates and join dates seem to all be accurate as far as I can tell. My hats off to Mike for keeping it altogether for ten wild and crazy years. Been lots of fun and I have met lots of really nice folks that I would never have because of this website.
