Cliff Joyner looking for sponsors

Maybe his first post ever on az should not be to ask for a sponsor.
But I do think az should be a good place for guys to get some kind of a sponsor.
If 10 to 20 guys on here who have some gamble and there are plenty on here that do put up 100 or so each they could have a good horse.

I disagree Chris, It is fair enough that Cliff put it out that he is looking for a sponsor here. There are a lot of fans and critics alike on this forum.
The fans and potential sponsors should not be influenced by the haters on this forum. A bump for considering sponsoring your favorite local champ or some of the hard working Pro's also. My first post was not so great either but I would do it again.
Since then, thanks to all the help from these couch computer pro's, I have learned better grammer.

No one is hating on anyone or anything. If someone wants to talk about how tough it is out the road, then I think it is legitimate to point out an alternate perspective on that and comment on how any given individual got "on the road" in the first place. That is not hating -- it is having a different opinion and a point of view that many here can identify with.

Lugnutz,

You misspelled grammar. ;)

Thanks for all the lessons you gave me over the years. Hope you get back to the game soon. I was always rooting for you when you were out there grinding the last few years.

At 1 time you had to disagree that I could not spot you the 8 playing 10 ball
I was right

The lot of professional pool players must be improving somehow. Previously, the forum Drama Queen described professional pool players as "Dancing Monkeys." Now she jokingly calls them "pariahs and no-good bums."

When one considers the sordid history of pool, in which professionals and road players gamble, drink, lie, cheat, shark and hustle their way into making a living, it's no wonder that our sport remains in the gutter.

To refresh your fading memories, here's a colorful excerpt from Billy Incardona about Bernie Rogoff:
"One of the guys said that he was going to take all the money because we hustled them (and he was pretty big and angry) Bunny then said in his drunken voice... you can't do that this kid won the money fair and square... The big guy started to walk over to the light to grab the money...thats when Bunny ran to the table and jumped up and grabbed the money off the light and took off running out the door. The other guy pulled a gun and fired it as bunny was running out the door, fortunately missing Bunny. Everyone ran outside and Bunny ran into a field in back of the club as this guy was shooting at him. My car was in the parking lot so I figured this was a good time to jump into my car and boogie..which I did ..in a hurry while they were occupied chasing Bunny."

If you look at books like "Pool Wars", you can find many more colorful descriptions about the pool players, hustlers and scum bags that make up a large part of our pool folklore. If professional pool players want more respect from the common public, as well as other pool players and fans, they need to earn it. (It's definitely not helping their cause for the forum Drama Queen to be calling professionals Dancing Monkeys, pariahs and no-good bums.)

Mr. Real,
Are you giving up the 8 playing 10 ball? How are you my friend?

I like Cliff and the way he plays pool. He is down here now, in New Orleans/Metairie, Louisiana. He has been playing Richie Richeson in the worlds pool hall, Buffalo Billiards, a lot as of late. If I had the funds I would sponsor him in a heart beat!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I completely agree. If Schmidt got on here and asked for a sponsor, I'm sure he'd find one. If Harriman got on and insulted people into sponsoring, I'm sure somebody would bite. Even a part-time strong player like yourself can find people easily to back em. Before it's over, I'm sure somebody will back Cliff. Had he been posting even once in a while, there's no doubt in my mind that he'd have the funds by now. People are suckers for those they can at least feel that they know.

Who knows, maybe he could be AZB's dancing monkey in the future. People could pitch in regularly, put him up in events and split the winnings with him until he no longer needs a leg up.

Calling people names like drama queen does not promote harmony. And as you well know such name calling is against the rules.

You also know that you are twisting Jenny's meaning by taking her words out of context and this is a form of harassment which is also against the rules.

Please report yourself.

Maybe he is not computer literate. I got my first laptop a couple of years ago. Really working on my spelling and grammar. I am thinking this is Cliffs situation.

Creating an alias is also against the rules. (Doesn't promote harmony either.)

I do see a HUGE shift in the way the forum operates these past few months

So, until then, I'll just accept the fact that pro pool players are regarded as pariahs and no-good bums, worthy of ridicule and insults on this pool forum, and you, C.J., can accept the fact that pro pool players are welcome and treated with respect on this pool forum. :)
We have a right to our own perspective, and opinion, I've just never seen John, Chris, Danny or even Mike treated as "no good bums". I think there is some jealousy and even animosity towards a few of them, however, I don't know their personal history on this Forum. The only ones on here that never get ridiculed are those that write checks.

I do see a HUGE shift in the way the forum operates these past few months, the AZ Staff must be doing some great things behind the scenes. Even Lou seems to be in a good mood - We're certain he will be in Tunica displaying his "Touch" at One Pocket.

I guess I should make up my mind if I'm going to Tunica or not, maybe I should start a "Sponsorship Thread," raise a few hundred thousand and retire. :groucho: 'The Game is the Teacher'.com

I think that grouping "All" pro pool players in the same group is the issue here. Not all pro pool players are pariahs and no good bums, but some are.

I also think it's unfair to say that people just bash "All" pro pool players. I personally have made fun of Tony Chohan because he sold and got caught with bails of marijuana and/or a ton of cocaine, and Howard Vickery because he likes to bang little kids. Both of which are true and I'd expect the same ridicule if the shoe was on my foot.

I caught all kinds of hell for my DUI and as well I should.

In the case of Cliff, I've seen and/or heard of a ton of shady stuff he's done (but didn't divulge any of that) only that he owes me money personally as well as a lot of people that I've witnessed in person. That doesn't make him a bad person necessarily, only that he's asked for money from a lot of folks before and not made it right with them. He may have made it right with a lot of others for all I know, but personally speaking, no.

Chris, John Schmidt, and I think Dennis Hatch have all come on here asking for a stake and received it. No hassle, no drama. I think the same would occur if it were Corey, Shane, Darren Appleton, Stevie, and a lot of other players that have conducted themselves (for the most part) with nothing but class over the years.

That being said, to come on here asking for money from the pool community with a less than stellar (mildly putting it) reputation with that community and expecting anything other that some people stating facts is just plain silly.

Lou hasn't changed one iota. He has just switched targets for now. You have become too dangerous for him to assail you. When he was attacking you, he was threatened with the muzzle so he backed off.

Lou is still making ad hominem attacks on John Barton, even resorting to quoting himself. :p

Lou finds sport in vilifying people like Cliff Joyner and is just more proof of his sordid sense of humor.

And I will just have to resign myself to the fact that some players/teachers that just want a chance to be welcome and teach the members of AZ a little for free get chased away
with lies and unproven accusations.

Hey guys, I want to hang around and teach you people a few things. I have over 6 hours of free videos for you to watch.

Hey guys, I want to hang around long enuff to put the bite on you for 3500 plus, and then
I'll be outa here. You know how tough it is out on the road. That's why I will need enuff
to stay at Harahs instead of the Super 8 down the road.

See, that was the killer for me otherwise I may have helped out.

Hey guys, vote for me for the wild card in the Mosconi Cup. Thanks, see ya.

Big difference eh, except the guy who wanted to be here and teach gets FKed off down the road before he got a chance to help out.

It's just a Night Mare, isn't it?

Funny that as of late, if anyone posts what they believe is an honest opinion or even fact, they are branded as Haters and Keyboard Cowboys.

Tell ya what just to be fair. If Cliff hangs around for two years and helps out some AZ members, and I don't mean 2 posts a year. It has to be an effort, I am good for $500 at the end of two years for the next tourney that Cliff would like to enter.

And after 3 years, that offer will be good and I will buy 5 AZ silver members a Gold status.

I think my money is pretty safe. But I will be more than happy to oblige at the end of that
Time.

Terry - Key Board Cowboy.

BTW Ray, the best way to support a family is to get a job.

Banging kids and marijuana, Shoot them both. 2 different offensives I think. LMAO !

Gary - sorry to hear about the shoulder and you are out of the game. You should come on over for a bar b q and we can watch the golfers roll by and talk about those great tournaments at Star Lite. My favorite was when Rusty made em all look like they couldn't play. I've never been a player but I spent a lot of money in businesses like yours supporting local pool. Like some here, I sometimes wonder why. People do things to give you doubts about them.

Anyways, I'll even let you bring the food -- bar b q'd swordfish is my favorite. I'll warn you though, it's about $11.99 a pound so I can't afford to get it often but if you bring it I'll show you my skills on the bar b q pit.

I never said they were the same offenses, but both of them made for great discussion and some great MS Paints.

This is a pool forum so why in the hell would people talk about pool players when they get in trouble or do something shady? Go figure. The rest of the professional athletes get their troubles talked about all over the world on a ton of forums and on Sportscenter but I guess that's different than people voicing their opinions and talking about pool players on a damn pool forum of all places, lollerskates

I love bbq.
