Let me tell you something buddy, a tax ID number is just that...where to send the taxes to, as it WON'T keep you employed, that is something you have to work on...on your own. I've see to many business open, then close. Just because you own a business don't mean you're going to be making it just fine the rest of your life. You have to work it, as I have done, or it won't last, and my "business" will last until the day I call it quits, I guarantee you that...so, are you done trying to explain the finer points of owning a "business" to me, or is there something else I should know more about?

Glen
Yeah 101...you got it right but then refuse to acknowledge it. "Its takes a lifetime to build a reputation but only a minute to lose it".

But its obvious you think you're indestructible.

Others have suggested a little humility but you respond by lashing out. How many of these kinds of situations need to happen before it matters?

I know you think highly of yourself but you're not the only one who does what you do. I think you're talented but like anyone else with a talent there will always be others.

I think you did a great job creating a market where one didn't prior exist. There's a reason others don't duplicate, its a big sacrifice. Also most local markets don't demand it. At least not the precision installations you provide. There's no shortage of recovering and installation work but most bars and consumers aren't looking for your kind of installation.

I don't remember the exact statistic but somewhere around 65% of the pool tables in the home are used for things other than playing pool. Table used to fold laundry was #1 on the list.

My guess is once your done the work will be absorbed by a few good guys working regionally as suggested rather than one superstar living out of his car.

What is it with you Bishop...you think you know me or something?...YOU don't know shit about me, not one damn thing, and your numbers are so out of whack you're crazy to think you know this business I'm in. I gave UP a service business taking care of all the pool tables in 328 bars a year, that's over 1,000 table recoveries a year at $150.00 labor per table...I WALKED away from it and gave it to my younger brother who already had his service business going. YOU....don't KNOW me buddy, I designed my own line of coin-operated pool tables, built and sold 128 of my KING COBRA coin-operated pool tables, the ones I didn't sell were the 9ft's in the casino's in Washington state, I vended them!!!

I WALKED away from that business to get involved with Diamond, helping them design their line of coin operated smart tables...YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME, you have no clue buddy, so why don't you stop trying to preach to me what YOU think you know about the line of work I'm in, or at least....be a LITTLE bit smarter than what you've shown me already....please!!!

Don't make yourself out to look as if you know what's going on with me, when you really have no clue....OK? I don't care about the statistics of other business, or the home table industry or anything else you MIGHT feel compelled to offer, I've been in this line of work for a very long time, as I've already stated, including having owned 3 different pool rooms in my time, the largest with 37 pool tables....so...quit, you don't know me, and since I'm not ASKING for your advice...to continue to offer it....is rude, don't you think?

What do you do for a living?

Never mind, I'm done with this dumb conversation.

Its called a conversation. I'm not belittling you, not using profanity, not hurling insults but discussing the nature of this thread, your dealings and the business in general. Last time I checked I was free to post comments here.

Why are you so insistent that the whole world is clueless except you. Are you really this incapable of stepping outside your comfort zone and discussing the finer points of actually running a business. There's lots to discuss here. Its a message board, we aren't going to stop posting because you're mad about it.

I run a business as well. Doing hard surface cleaning and restoration like, natural stone, concrete, tile and grout. We also do carpet cleaning, janitorial, hoarding cleaning and construction clean up.

But hey never mind the thousands of customers I've had. Surely there's nothing you could learn from another guy in business for himself.

You think you got tough customers. Try hoarders or millionaires who want their concrete floors to look like water. We've had tough ones, you're not the only one.

This is all I know about RKC:
Years ago I had problems with my GC IV, and he pm'd me with answers to some of my problems. No one else took the time to do this. He also stated that he would be happy to schedule a visit, and correct any problem I had. From posts I've read on here, over the years praising his work, I have no doubt that he is the best at what he does, and I would have no problem with him working on any table I own!!

My question for all those with these ideas and suggestions for me to do, or what I should do....is what business is it of yours if I return the rails and money to Tony and no body gets hurt in the process because I have to back out of a job I said I would do, which turned out to be a job I couldn't do?
None of you have a right in this matter to demand a tracking number to see if I return the rails, or proof of receipt to see if I sent Tony his money back...NOT ONE OF YOU!!!

Glen

I was done in this thread, but since you posted this question, I'll play "keyboard warrior" one more time. Tony is hurt because he is left without a table. 5 months total time isn't "nobody get's hurt" and your callous attitude about leaving this guy without a table is what had me posting here in the first place. I can tell you being without my table for that period of time would hurt a lot.

I don't understand what your point is, Tony's rails are factory built, with factory cushions, that are in good condition, so what's the "work that bad" meaning?

How long would the job take? Were the guys at the diamond factory such slave drivers you couldn't knock them out? Like I said, you were trying to do the guy a favor. Favors buy good will and reputation. Somehow that turned into this. You try to do something nice and the whole thing goes to shit because of how you handled adversity. Yet when you post here you have no sense of culpability no remorse for leaving a guy without his table for an indefinite period. Those of us who own tables read this and sympathize with the OP because none of us would like to be without our table.

Nobody is questioning his work.......please read the entire thread.....

OK, so it is not 5 months (about 20 weeks), but is 16-17 weeks (4 months) sounds right to you?

Make it right RKC, and stop beating around the bush!

How many weeks is it from the END of Feb until last week?...you're still wrong, get your facts straight that way you don't look so....peanut gallery like:rolleyes:

Obviously, you do not comprehend that your reputation is going down the drain......I really feel sorry for you.

Really?...I don't recall asking you to feel sorry for me....do you?...or is that just another way for you to feel good about sticking your nose into someone else's business;)

Gee...I wonder who's really beating the bush....could it be you, because you have nothing to do with this thread....yet, here you are...beating the bush:rolleyes:

Glenn, please learn how to read. Poster indicates it was the first week of February, so it was 16-17 weeks ago....

I'm quoting the first post of this thread:

Back in the first week of February 2013, Glenn was in my area and was able to pick the rails up at my home along with the payment for the work. We made a deal that he would have them completed and returned by mid March 2013. Well now it’s late May 2013 and after many phone conversations, and Glen telling me he would have the rails done and returned to me time and time again, I have given up all hope to ever seeing Glenn, my money or my rails again. :

im gonna beat the bush and i aint got no biz being here, sue me lol

this is true, glen did walk away from all that, he has also designed and revolutionized some things on tables. he has invented many things, it aint BS, i checked out what he claimed and sure enough it was all true, Glen is a one of a kind person. heavy handed, not always his best friend , but he lives on his own terms and i admire that. he is nobodies trick. He is independent too independent sometimes.

I like him, he is a good man, no i dont always agree with him, we argue sometimes. but always with respect for each other, im sure he pissed me off a time or 2 and i probably pissed him off too. but were better than that. this thread really isnt a accurate picture of Glen, the internet isnt always accurate in that way.
