Video of Earl Strickland Jeremy Jones Drama

Things like this are the key to the entertainment value however it's obviously not about violence, it's about personality.....and developing characters in a professional way.

No Pro Sport or TV/Movie thrives on the people acting "like themselves," they all are directed and groomed to become a character that is entertaining. Pool is exceptional because they don't do this, they just leave the players out to "fend for themselves" and criticize them for acting up......we have the solution, someday someone will utilize what's been there since the "Fat Man" was the center of the "pool stage".

Mega Dittos!

"Fat Man" was the center of the "pool stage".

Absolutely. And the combination of the Fat Man and Mosconi made it a killer combo.

You may have already read/seen this, http://www.billiardsdigest.com/untold_stories/fats.php but it is about the coming together plans of the matches between Mosconi/Fats (it's a couple pages). It was not the game of pool that sold Cosell or the network to want to air it so badly, it was these two characters and pool. I think you have to have both to make it on tv.
I watch pool (like many others) because I love it, but with trying to draw a general audience into loving this game, you have to have more than just professionals playing pool. Now, once you have people hooked and enjoying the sport, it becomes easier to sell all facets of the game.

Wow. That video blows mine away. Nice. The real truth lies in the earlier dialogue when JJ first suggested going outside after Earl complained that they were talking too much.

Earl considers that threatening him if you mention going outside which technically is not a threat but a huge shark move.

And the entertainment value is through the roof. Who in their right mind is NOT going to watch next week. I'm in for good now :)

I mean, we "brag" tall tales about hustlers, con artists, dumping and pro shark moves to take down the cheese, but everyone is offended by Earl :) Too funny.

If I was Jeremy, I would tell BB that Earl gets suspended or I will not be doing anymore commentary. They have no option beyond Jeremy because he gives all the other announcers the 6 and the break in that category.

i'll wager on Texas in this one too.

I agree Bonus Ball needs a pre-game show consisting of a modern day Fats telling it like is. Chef Anton or someone like him would be a great pool related vegas style act. He does great impressions of all the players.

yeah, that makes sense. Let another competitor make the rules when and how someone gets suspended.... and of course, good pool commentators are so hard to come by ;)

Someone has to teach Earl that he has to respect his competitor and can't swing every arguement like an upset wife.

Wow!

Here's another view of the drama someone posted on facebook. You can hear what they say much clearer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrFwJEurC0Q&feature=youtu.be

Now you see the real story. There are few who are die heart Earl fans and some are not, but there is absolutely no reason for a man to curse and disrespect another player or players. This is just no justifyable reason for this to happen. I cant speak on Earl, I spoke to him one time in Vegas and the conversation turned disrespectful to us on a topic he was discussing by himself. I personally know Jeremy and have for 15 years. I know he is one of the more passive people in pool. He is not a disrespectful person. He has character. I think if any man just flat out disrespect another he should expect a reaction. I will never agree that violence is the answer, but sometime you have to give a man a spanking for this level of disrespect. Just my humble opinion.

That's not even half of what took place.

That is fine, but the decision cannot be made by the guy who called him to step outside and a competitor in the league.....

Personally, I consider this whole episode to be a huge negative to the advancement of Bonus Ball. If pocket billiards is to reap any positive from BB it will need to be packaged such that non pool enthusiasts start to join the ranks of the die hards. Hell, even die hard pool players can't agree on if BB is good or bad but I know this ... if a casual observor took a look to maybe decide on giving pool another chance he would probably think, "Yeah, that's what I thought these pool players were like" and move on to another activity instead of getting interested/hyped up about pool. I know I'll probably get blasted by the Strickland/Jones fans but really ... it doesn't matter who started it etc, etc. What is this 6th grade? Be professional and if you have a gripe address it to the referee. Rant over! :D

I think they just go all the way with it.

See Double J in front of the mic:

"Last week you got me all worked up Earl the Squirrel....but next weekend in the luxurious Bonus Ball Headquarters in world famous Las Vegas Nevada you will pay the piper son. WOOOO.....Thats right Earl. A reckoning is coming. Its not a threat its a promise baby. WOOOOOOO!!!!"

Drops mic, punches host, walks off stage.
