Bonus Ball Players Can get Staked at The Southern Classic

Ten??

I can still pick 10 and you can have Ms. Beretta. Do you like your end. I can name 10 names, Don't you agree. We can dust them off. Lol !

Gary I am curious who the 10 are. I am guessing you are including just across the rivers as well.

Gary wants to stretch a BB Pro to any player that can draw their ball. I'm sorry but it should be for players that have put a dent in a professional national tournament somewhere.

In St Louis that would qualify Mark Wilson, Larry Hubbard, Terry Bell, and Gabe Owen. Only Gabe has played in a pro event the past decade.

I don't know and have never seen Larry or Terry didn't know they are here and or play. ( yes I am new the scene last 5 yrs) I just can't come up with 5 that play better than Jeanette and if Beretta plays better than Jeanette than I am just curious who the 10 are. I would include just across the rivers to be St.Louis so I am guessing Mark, Jimmy E, Gary, and Justin are included. Andy then you prob have to go farther out???

Income does make a difference in attitude, advantages, behavior and choices

The disrespect/name calling to the pros on this site make me sick.

Especially when in reality they are playing an incredibly challenging game that requires ALL the most difficult shots in pool.

Course if you don't play pool it would be hard to understand that.

That's a fantastic point, and pool's current situation goes even deeper into human behavioral psychology. Freud and Jung would have had a field day.

The fact of the matter is professional pool players are just as smart, talented and creative as any other professional athletes. The main difference is only in the economic department - pool hasn't been used as a marketing vehicle like other major sports. This, in effect has created an economy that leans towards poverty and lots of in fighting because "there's too many dishes and not enough soup".

This isn't the professional pool players fault in any way, shape or form. It wasn't the players in any other sport that created the vast economy, it was the sport itself (because of being out outdoor, or school friendly game) combined with a lot of brilliant business, marketing and advertising minds. It takes vast synergy to create an empire.

These sports still needed time to evolve and took many years for the players to reap the benefits. Arnold Palmer was an exception that he was a great player, promoter, and businessman, and there's only been a handful of others throughout history.

Sam Snead was one of the winningest golfers of all time for 6 decades and won less than $800k. Now golfers win in a single tournament, what other men took 60 year so to do, and the same can be said of tennis, football, basketball, etc.

Income does make a difference in attitude, advantages, behavior and choices that people can, and will make, that's just the way it is....and pool is not the "exception to this rule."

That doesn't count food or walking through the casino without doing something.

You gotta pay for food wherever you are so that is not an "extra" expense. Expecting the a pool tournament should cover casino losses a pool player may have while at the tournament is going full retard in expectations, don't go full retard man.

CJ,

I know at one time you was interested in getting on a Bonus Ball team, but for whatever reason, it did not pan out. Now I'm sure you don't need the money, so what was it that made you take an interest in the game?

I will play any of these guys except Gabe even. The first top player I ever beat in the 1980's was Larry Hubbart. And if you think Terry Bell could have beat me in the 1980's, You were smoking something.

You have always been the St Louis area pool detective, I was starting to think you had changed a little. But after reading a lot of your posts, I guess I was wrong. What have Larry and Terry done for pool ? They came up with the 2nd best league behind the BCA. What have they done for any Pro Player in the World. They have got fat like a good businessman should.

You have been to the best tournaments in the Midwest, and I have added more cash and put on more successful tournaments than any promoter in the history of St. Louis.
Mark is not from here and moved here years ago. How much have any of the names you mentioned promoted events like I have. I know Gabe, a long time St. Louis area native has impacted the pool industry.

Name one of these guys born within 200 miles from St. Louis. My comment was I can name 10 or more players in this area that she Can't beat. You should stick to Golden Tee because I have known of you 30 years as a railbird- pool detective that would trap their brother. I know you have hung around poolrooms a lot, so your non pool educated azz should stick to taking sides in the BB threads. Some people never change. I love my Salmon grilled.

Theres 11 and im half asleep Watchez, These guys all are capable to win matches in any tournament, Would you fly Jennifer in to play any of these guys?

My point to watches is there is no money and never will be with the mentality that change can't happen. You are barking up the wrong tree with me. I am for a Pro Tour where a player can make a living. Sorry Brenden, A little fired up now. That list is a fair one, And I think I know a little more about Pro Pool than Watchez.

Have a Great Day all, Gary

I'm not sure what your beef is with Watchez, but I saw Jeanette not so long ago at Turning Stone, and she defeated some heavy hitters. She can play. It's not like she's a shortstop or a lobster.

By my own admission, I am not familiar with the St. Louis pool scene. Those names you mentioned, I've never heard of any of them. I actually had never heard of you until you started posting recently, and then I found a YouTube clip of you that I shared.

Isn't Danny Harriman from St. Louis? He's a strong player.

First Watchez and I go way back, I don't have a real problem with him. Danny is from Springfield Mo. Jeanette and I have gambled high, And yes she can play. I don't think I mentioned Jeanette though. All of the names are longtime local guys that play real good, I wouldn't say any of them have to beat Jeanette. Jam, There are a lot of players that don't support tournaments because the chance of breaking even are slim.

I am for anything new that could attract corporate sponsorship, How can anyone that loves Pro Pool not wish this for the players. My opinion is that all promoters should work together, And as I have mentioned I have and will continue to support Greg or Marks events in the future.

I thought you were talking about Jeannette. Are you talking about Jennifer? I am not as familiar with her game, but I think she can play well. She holds her own against the lady pros. I have seen her at Turning Stone Casino a few times, but she did not fare well. Everybody, though, is entitled to an off day at a tournament. The short races, as I'm sure you know, don't showcase a person's real skills like a long set does. Endurance is good to have, but it's those second gears which kick in that matter.

I realize you are not familiar with me, but believe me, I've done the tournament trail, living out of a suitcase, doing two, three, and four tournaments every single month. I definitely felt the financial squeeze, loss of my business, and missing the best years of my dog's life. I know all about having to win, place, or show just to break even. And even if you do win, you're so stuck from the other tournaments that you didn't cash, it's like you still can't get ahead.

Of course, I want professional pool to flourish. I agree with you on this point 100 percent. :)

I kind of feel like I was consoling my friend who was getting a divorce because her husband was cruel, agreeing with her how rotten he was, so I told her in no uncertain terms that he was a no-good, dirty SOB. Then she goes back with her husband, and I'm feeling like -- well, like I do about this topic now. I wanted to state how unfair I thought the situation was, and in doing so, I'm now the bad guy.

Well, one thing about it, old dogs can learn new tricks. :grin-square:

Yea, the subject was J. Beretta. I don't want to get in the politics of this. I would most likely be in Tunica if it wasn't for a shoulder injury sustained 1 year ago. It sucks. I didn't play for 17 years except when a player came through and beat me. I never played at all. I started playing again in 2007. It has been a tough road, A lot of years off makes it tough, But not impossible. I have come along well enough that if someone gives me a fair game, i might play. Im sure Keith knows, Im a lot like Keith in a lot of ways. I hope the very best for Tunica, and i hope i can make it to the Derby. I have been 5 of the last 6 years, And i stay in action, Not cheap action, Kinda like Keith.

Maybe Keith can come too and we will partner up and take some these youngsters off, Of course let me match it up. I know what we need, We will play 1 pocket or banks, These young kids love trying to beat me. Which of course they can. Like Keith said i know what spot means LoL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keith said you always had 3- to $4,000 on you at all times, but you were a hard customer to get in the pit. He said you picked your games very carefully. :grin-square:

Keith said I'd probably like you, that you were a nice guy and a lot of fun to be around. It would be cool to meet up sometime down the road and have you and Keith knock some balls around. Maybe a partners game. Keith definitely shines in one-hole and banks, but he can play all games and adapt to any equipment.

What about the U.S. Open in Norfolk? Is that too far for you? I love that tournament. It's in October, I think. We're going to really try hard to make that one this year.

Agreed. It's time for the forum drama queen to stop associating pool players with being dancing monkeys, no-good bums, pariahs and whatever else.

The economic lot of professional pool players has been a hard one but even they deserve to be treated with more respect than some people are giving them.

Is that all you got? Surely, you can do better than that. I'm well known for not having any respect for pro players? Sure, that's the ticket. I'm the pro player hater on AzBilliards. :D

I have no idea how Jennifer plays - never seen her hit a ball. But 80% of your list can play Jeannette with no hesitation. The line should form behind her but I doubt she moves to Vega$ to play for $900 a week. And honestly, many of those on the list are people I call friends but without some type of qualifying system, don't belong on anything that is labeled as a pro pool player.

Change can happen Gary - but it has to happen the right way. And with realistic aspirations.

Glad to hear that you have no 'real problem' with me.
