Can we have the truth - are the Bonus Ball players being paid or not?

This is a simple Yes or No question. But it has always seems difficult for the Bonus Ball spokespeople to answer anything simply.

Can one of the players like Daz speak up and let the public know if he has been paid?

Surely the ABP that is in place protected the players so this would not occur as this has been everyone's biggest concern from the start.

Cleary says he would bet tons of Apples they are not. I am hearing the same and have been hearing it since June 15 when I made this post.

Was yesterday payday for the Bonus Ball players? Do they get paid every Friday?

However, it has been told to me that I don't know a thing about the pool world.

Or better yet, why not focus on the positives? The game looks great, plays great, and has a lot of players feeling a renewed interest in playing again. Plus we got some networks contracts already (well, one for sure, and a second pending). I'll never understand why people always focus on the negatives in everything, when life often bring so many positives.

So if there is a network contract and more coming - where is the money?

Plus I thought that the Canada investors and Larry had DEEP pockets.

The players enjoy the game and are making more money then they were last year so its good for the players which to me I feel is very important. If the league makes money and does well then the players make more money too and perhaps more teams are put together with more players. If this fails then pool goes back to where it was plain and simple and that will just be sad because we know its a rough life for most pro players.

:

It sounds like the definition of 'making more money' needs to be defined.

2. The most important thing in business - get the money in the register.

Here I thought the re-scheduling of Bonus Ball might have interferred with the players coming to the Southern Classic. However, since they had not gotten paid, no wonder some of them canceled at the last minute. They couldn't afford to go. :(

I don't think you'll get an answer from any players that would be to the negative.

1. You don't want to bite the hand that feeds (or promises to feed you).
2. You don't want the negative publicity that would accompany an admission. You would hear too many "I told you so" comments and be told what an idiot you were to believe them in the first place.

If BB fails, you may hear some of the behind the scenes issues from the players, but not while it's still going on.

The first player that comes on here publicly in this thread and announces the truth to either confirm or deny, I will buy him dinner at SW Steakhouse at The Wynn while I am in Vega$ from July 17 - 28. This has to be done before any press release by BB.

p.s. JAM - I think you are on to something.

Watchez is going to stake with a steak! I love it!

Bonus Ball hasn't paid me.

Do I win the steak dinner? (however, I'll order fish since I've been off red meat for a couple of years now)

I've got the hint that some players have not gotten paid. not going to mention any names.

Watchez check your REP man, you never REP me anymore where is the love?:wink:

Ok - so Fatboy wants to go to dinner too. You didn't need to say that in a rep comment. You know I love you man. t.

Any player that steps up as previously described gets dinner at SW with me and Fatboy. Two guys that know nothing about the pool world but think we do.

p.s. I hear that a couple of players were down at the Las Vega$ Uhaul renting a truck so they could cart out two brand new GC IVs from the BB Arena.

Here are a few links for the Bonus Ball pros

I'd make contact and file ASAP - they will most likely take any action on a first come, first serve basis.

Nevada's workers are critical to the economy and quality of life in our State.

Please note that there are no restrictions on covered individuals: the Commission uses the term,WORKERS and not employees.

There is very little wiggle room in determining who is protected, based on that language.

If they're taking taxes out, the players might have some rights.

I don't think that matters, as withholdings are the employer's responsibility.

I think the choice 'workers' means anyone who performs work for an entity.

BB is funding the operation/ payroll, owns the building and is directing the activities of the players. I don't think BB can shirk employer liability.

But I am sure they thought that part through:rolleyes:.

Depends of they get 1099s or W-2s. Also, BB players use their own equipment, i.e., cues, et cetera. BB doesn't buy their equipment. Also, according to BB minions, the players are free to compete in other events. There is no exclusivity clause. There is no non-compete contract, either.

I know a little about labor law, not much, but just enough to understand the employee vs. the independent contractor.

I'm not sure why every one is so concerned with whether the players are getting paid or not. If you asked me if/what my employees were getting paid, I'd have a fairly blunt answer for you. If the players are getting paid, that's their problem. I can tell you right now, I don't work for free.

I'm not defending Bonus Ball, but for all the talk about how this will hurt pro pool, we all know it won't really change anything. It will still be the same story, if you can do something other than play pool for a living, you're more than likely better off doing that...

I hope they are getting paid, but truth be told I really don't care. I tried watching some BB two or three times now, and just don't care for it. It's odd, confusing, and I still don't like the game even now that I understand it a bit.

P.S. I have no vested interest in failure or success of BB.

If the BB bank account is running on empty, you can't pay either employees or contractors with money that you don't have.

According to the Small Business Chronicle: "If an employer falls behind in making payroll, then files bankruptcy, employees become creditors and take priority in receiving remuneration from the outcome of the bankruptcy. However, even when the bankruptcy ends in full reimbursement of payroll liabilities, employees may not receive compensation until after the bankruptcy."
