A must read. TERRIFIC
Didn't read the whole thread. Where and when can I order this. thanks.
Fred
I have bought all the recent pool books by several other player/authors, while they are an OK read, they do not compare with this book. Your writing style is very easy to read and tells story after story in a manner that keeps me reading. How did you remember all the details to all the stories over a lifetime. You must have been keepin notes.
I grew up in the Stardust Bowling Alley in Hamond, Ind. in the late sixties and I enjoyed reading about you and several other players being there, even tho it was prior to my arrival. I did get to see some players tho, Chicago Paul, Billy Williams, Crying Eddie, all nite action when I was 16-17 yrs old. Affected my whole life.
I also watched you play at Cafe Billiards in '88 and '89 when I lived in Chicago and played at Chris's mostly. I wish I had had the nerve to play some with you then.
Pls do me a favor, I have book #78 and you signed it to my wife cause it was on her credit card. When you send out the hardcover would you sign it to to Darrell?
Thanks
Do you remember Stardust Tony?

Need more info. But I do know Beaver and Weaver.

I think Vinniebabarooch was asking me about Stardust Tony. Seems Vinniebabarooch is someone that hung around Stardust too, but I don't know his real name yet. Beaver was a guy I played pool and golf with alot, and course Weaver was a pretty good pool player from Stardust also.
Did you know Billy Williams and Crying Eddie well? Those two guys got me addicted to one pocket and banks and showed me a few things back then. I loved Crying Eddie's purple Superfly outfits. Man..what a time that was for a 17 year old kid hooked on pool.
Freddie- a couple of questions about the excellent book. Only 2 is serious.
1. How am I supposed to read it? Do I start at the fromt and work to the back, or do I seek out those I am familiar with and bounce around?:sorry::grin:
2. I don't understand how the players would, as you say: go into a room and try to win all the money. Obviously handicaps would heave to be doled out to stay in action, therefore wouldn't people down the line be aware of the whuppins being handed out and start asking for far more weight than actually necessary? I guess you usually refer to that player's action in a seemingly negative manner, so meybe those folks rarely won 'all the money'?
And there sure are some great one-liners in there. He was so treacherous, he'd steal a hot stove, with no gloves...
I am diggin the book. Thanks for getting it done.
The book went out on the 18th. Left Jacksonville on the 27th. The comment is, "In transit."
You should get it any day.
